rabbi shmuley says in this interview that mj would recoil from his (shmuely's) criticism and didn't know how to take that criticism. perhaps he is accurate, and perhaps also that's only a part of the picture. perhaps the rabbi just didn't know how to couch what he wanted michael to hear, in a way that michael could hear it?

My thoughts are that this information is very insightful but it is also off-putting that these confidential tapes, which sound a lot like private therapy sessions, would be released. I would NEVER trust a therapist or emotional adviser who would do that with my personal thoughts.

It is not hard to tell whether someone truly wants to be your friend or if they are just getting information about you to critique. Michael had way too much criticism in his life. He needed someone with knowledge AND compassion for what he's been through as a celebrity and as a human being. If all the negative comments were out of the book, it really would be a good book. I just skimmed this book at Barnes and Noble today, and this is what I thought. First of all, these conversations were had 9-10 years ago. Everyone changes TONS in a decade. So, I thought it was very unfair for Schmuley to publish this book without Michael's input when so much time has passed since they even had any contact with one another.

I think what Rabbi Boteach meant was that if Michael truly cared about his children, which he undoubtedly did in his heart of hearts, he wouldn't have let prescription drugs destroy and ultimately kill him. rabbi shmuley says in this interview that mj would recoil from his (shmuely's) criticism and didn't know how to take that criticism. perhaps he is accurate, and perhaps also that's only a part of the picture. perhaps the rabbi just didn't know how to couch what he wanted michael to hear, in a way that michael could hear it?

My thoughts are that this information is very insightful but it is also off-putting that these confidential tapes, which sound a lot like private therapy sessions, would be released. I would NEVER trust a therapist or emotional adviser who would do that with my personal thoughts.

It is not hard to tell whether someone truly wants to be your friend or if they are just getting information about you to critique. Michael had way too much criticism in his life. He needed someone with knowledge AND compassion for what he's been through as a celebrity and as a human being. If all the negative comments were out of the book, it really would be a good book. I enjoyed reading what Michael had to say. He was truly special.

I just skimmed this book at Barnes and Noble today, and this is what I thought. First of all, these conversations were had 9-10 years ago. Everyone changes TONS in a decade. So, I thought it was very unfair for Schmuley to publish this book without Michael's input when so much time has passed since they even had any contact with one another.

Thank you for that advice janet 060948- I would suggest that you post it on as many of these tape's airings that you can find on You Tube and elsewhere-But I think people can see the dollar signs as the motivation- I mean it is not really going to anything good for anyone- but the Rabbi's bank account. And you know, a lot of people are criticizing all these people who are coming out with these stories, saying they are just trying to capitalize on his death,.......hey listen. These people were apart of his life at some point, we weren't. They saw stuff, we didn't. Shit, his own family wasn't even there to witness some of the things these people saw. NOTICE how on the tape Michael ONLY says " I don't want to say her name...Madonna" but on screen they added "ON TAPE"... DON'T BUY THE BOOK, it'll end up on internet...or borrow it from your library. Michael said that MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. All of these blood-sucking leeches that keep popping up after MJ's death are surely proof of that. Even certain members of his family are taking advantage of him now that he has passed away. I am sure that they were doing the same while he was alive also. I heard that this Rabbi stole a lot of the money raised for the "Heal the Kids" foundation. This rabbi claims that Michael wanted the info on these tapes released to the public. Why does he wait 8 years and after MJ dies to publish a book? MJ is not even here to defend himself. In my opinion, he is just another "leech" that sucked the life out of Michael. I think what Rabbi Boteach meant was that if Michael truly cared about his children, which he undoubtedly did in his heart of hearts, he wouldn't have let prescription drugs destroy and ultimately kill him. I think he was saying that from the POV of MJ as a father meant everything to those children and he let his prescription drug addiction kill him, leaving him orphaned. As wonderful as MJ undoubtedly was, he ultimately did not listen to people who tried to help him & let himself be destroyed.

I don't really see the big deal about these books or the tapes. I think he is revealing Michael in a positive way and a way that few people have understood fully. I would rather they be released and people understand who he was and what he was dealing with. At least these words are out of his own mouth. Instead there are all these stories going round and round about him at least we get to hear his private thoughts from him.

So why does he need the 22nd book? Because he feels that this book will be his windfall. As to Joe's abuse; LaToya said on 20/20 that Mike has forgiven his father & made amends. cont...In my opinion, Boteach's real intentions were to observe Mike as a Lab specimen. Then he would write the conclusion of his experiment. I think that Mike likes to see the good in everyone, but he didn't understand that he was surrounded by venomous vipers. He just couldn't win. I too think MJ had some self-insecurity issues that made it difficult for him with intimacy, just like anybody else but the public scrutiny made it worst for him just because he didnt brag about his sexual conquests.
