"Normally we don't get this much snow in an entire winter..." I disagree. We get plenty of snow during the whole winter, it's just that it maintained more easily when it don't come down all at once hahaha :)
Gavle is a very snowy city compared to towns its latitude like Helsinki. Helsinkis record snow depth is 64cm. In orebro (which i was born in) the record was 86cm nearly beaten in 2009/2010 winter where ther was 85cm. Gavles record is 151cm. Which was in this one. But now Gavle and Orebro only see around 40-50cm which is quite small.

@aldorias Sweden you have my heart!!!! I am saving my money now and packing my stuff getting it all to ready for departure..Snow or not, Sweden to your land I will go!!!
I remember this :D I used to live on the third floor in an apartment building and I could actually jump out from my balcony and land safetly because the snow reached almost up to my balcony! It was great!
I remember this. Was only 6 years old. Many of the snowdrifts ware about 3-4 times my height. That is how a true winter should be. Not like the recent years with rain, and just grayish weather all winter.
@Muckfanskapshelvete Last winter was pretty good if you like snow. Looks like this one might be as well. The winter 1998, as far as I can remember, wasn't all that good.
@bonecrime the thing wasn't about 1.5 meter snow. The thing was that all came down in one snow fall during two days.
I remeber when I got home from SF, US that weekend. Slept ower in Stockhom, because no trains to Gävle. Got a ride with friends to Gävle, but still had to walk 10 km with all luggage I had to get to city center where I lived, and this was monday or tuesday, one-two days after the snow.
(could miss some thing, it was a long time ago) :)
yeah your right :)! and youre seems to be a good guy, most people i argue with on youtube are pretty angry people. I love australia and your people seems to be really cool, sometimes i maby will have a summer christmas :)!
i wonder whether the people who live in cold countries really like all that snow, or whether they just tell themselves they like, only because that´s something they cannot change. i´m affraid i´m not man enough to deal with ice lol!
@stanleyanick What no? i live in sweden and we love snow, we really do, when the first snow comes in november its about time for some cosy christmas and hot chocolate. Maby those who live in sibiria thinks its to cold but snow makes you appreciate summer, i dont think i could live in a country were there is summer all around...
@zhred thanks! it´s always interesting to see how people are so different all around the world... i love to live on the beaches and have summer all year long, and you love the snow and see it as a way to notice the importance of the summer. the world would be so boring if everyone would think the same way, isn´t? :)
btw, i know it must sound weird for the ones who like a white christmas, but i´d recommend to try our summer christmas once! changes can be really good sometimes!
@stanleyanick yeah your right :)! and youre seems to be a good guy, most people i argue with on youtube are pretty angry people. I love australia and your people seems to be really cool, sometimes i maby will have a summer christmas :)!
@zhred thanks again! I couldn´t identify if you´re a boy or a girl ´cause your name is really different for me, but you seem to be a good person too! don´t care about those people who always want to fight, maybe they´ve an empty life and need to be "angry" to prove something, or simple cannot argue in a friendly way.
if you decide to come to australia, be welcome, it´s indeed a wonderful country! and i´d like to visit sweden in july 2011 (in the summer of course!), let´s see!
@stanleyanick Thats awesome, when you come to sweden you should visit Dalarna and the lake Siljan, this is were i live and its in the middle of sweden :) im a boy, Zhred stands for Shred, iam a mountainbike freerider so we say so when we are gonna ride, shred the woods with our bikes down the mountain :)
@zhred good tips man, I´ve seen some pics of dalarna, indeed a great place! so you´re freerider, that´s cool!
I come from the region of darwin, in the north of Australia. but I´ve spent many years in south america! all the countries where I´ve been are fascinating. and now I´m very interested in sweden, althought it´s a bit too cold. for sure an amazing country!
@stanleyanick thats cool :)! In winter we can have up to minus 30 degrees celcius but most summers we have 25-30 degreese celcius heat, so summers would be a good idea :)!
@zhred wow, minus 30, man! i´d freeze in two seconds, i don´t have your resistance! :) where I was born is a warm place, we can have 30 celcius also during the winter. during the summer we have normally between 28-36 celcius. so the summer in sweden would be ok for us, but not hotter than some winter days in my city. that´s pretty funny! :)
i´d like to see the middnight sun and to swim in the lakes, that´s be perfect!
@stanleyanick Haha let me tell you, i really dont have that much resistance to dropping temperature eather. Yeah we got a lot of lakes, i think finland got more but we got a couple of tousands to haha :) Stockholm is also a visit you should make, its the capital of sweden but i guess you allready know that :)
@zhred you don´t have resistance? so como to live in australia, man! or at least in the countries where I´ve been (spain, greece, brazil, peru...), haha! unfortunatelly I´ve never been in sweden (actually is my wife who knows scandinavian), but I really would like to visit your country! not only sweden but also norway. have you ever been in norway or finland?
@stanleyanick ok i got resistance but when it drops down to 30 your nose kind of freezes hehe. Yeah i have been in norway, its beautiful to, they got big mountains and lakes down on the sides. I havnt been to finland i dont know how it looks over there :) What do australians think about americans? im just qurieous :)
@zhred you´ve got more resistance than I have, for sure. I´d die with -30 celsius. I suffer a lot already with zero degrees! I´ve once met the snow and I didn´t like the experience (beautiful, but a white hell!). that´s why I admire people who can live in cold places! :)
well, in fact I don´t know very much of the americans, but I always try to see the best side of every people in the world. what about you in sweden? what do you think about americans in general?
@stanleyanick Hehe yeah, when you get use to it i think its more easy to enjoy :) I think the Americans are awesome sometimes and sometimes theyre not, its intressting to see what people all over the world thinks becouse its so big country. Have you ever been to ayers rock?
@zhred unfortunatelly not! that´s funny, I´ve spent so many years travelling that I´ve never been in many cool places in my own country, haha! but I´m doing it one day, for sure! I´d like to bring my kids to this trip. and you, what countries in the world have you already visited?
@stanleyanick yeah you should :) im 19 so i havnt been to so many places, ive been in greece, thats the farest away ive been, greece is awesome, so nice water and warm weather. have you been there? :)
@zhred you´ll have plenty of time to travel, you´re quite young, still a boy! yeah, greece is amazing! I´ve been to athen and also to kreta, and you? ah, so you like hot temperatures too! :) I could recommend some places in south america, if you´re interested in. they´re just like us in australia: whenever it´s winter in north hemisphere, it´s summer there! alway the opposite. that means: they have spring at this moment (we too); meanwhile, it´s autumn in sweden!
@stanleyanick Yeah im a boy, nice i was to a island named kefalonia it was very dry and lot of fire in some places and it was a earthquake on one morning ! :O how old are you?
@zhred wow man, what an adventure you´ve been throught! :) but that was nothing for a boy who´s man enough to face -30 celcius every year, right! I´m 32, you were still a kid when I was about your age. Nowadays I´m a father and a man in love with his wife! :)
@stanleyanick Hahaha yeah iguess so, my mom were more scared, but i think that was becouse i was sleeping and i thought it was massage, when i wokeit was a real earthquake, but it stoped some seconds after i woke up. Yeah but 32 is not that old, i think you could call youreself old when youre going over 50 maby :) Thats awesome! i also want a wife when im around 30 :)!
@zhred thanks, but maybe 50 is also not that old! :) yeah, having a wife and being a daddy is pretty cool! I really admire my partner for being able to give birth to our children, that´s a real adventure. if you find a nice woman who´ll always be your friend, so you´re right, you should have a wife! nowadays it´s easier to get married, women and men do everything together (watch the children, earn money, housework) and there´re no more traditional roles as by the time of our grandpas hahaha!
@stanleyanick i haven´t been in norway or finland but ive been in Åland who belongs to finland i got there with the eckerö line if u go out on deck its blowing cold like its winter and i got there on the summer
@stanleyanick Haha to tell you the truth, if you're into winter sports snow is amazing. If not - you curse and moan for four months annually. Something in the lines of "How could my ancestors be so goddamn stupid they moved up here?" Just some snow and sub zero temps are not a problem. But when you get waist deep snow or more, and -30 celsius (-22F) It's not fun anymore. You should try it though ^^
You are an idiot, you are talking to a country that are famous for the deep snow
That snowstorm, all the snow you can see on the picture, all came pouring down in just a couple of days, no time for the machines to go out and plow..and therefor they got stuck aswell
This year we have alot more snow, but it have came down regularly
lol Tennessee44444, I think the Swedes handle the snow pretty well. You guys over there could learn something, if you'd put out your head from where the sun doesn't shine.
You swedes think you know everything. All I was saying was that you(Swedes) dont know how to deal with Snow storm. This video clip proves it. Follow the examples of how U.S deals with winter storms. Thaz all folks.
I don't think this was anything like your regular winter storm. The point is there was so much snow, coming so fast, nobody would be able to handle it. There just wasn't enough machinery nor people to handle it right away. How would you handle it in USA, strap a plow to your SUV/truck and make the snow magically dissapear?
How exactly does the U.S deal with winter storms when 5 feet of snow comes down in a couple of hours? What did we do wrong? I want to know everything!
@Tennessee44444 hahaha. Learn to point out Europe on a map then come back and we can talk about snowstorms. You are talking about people that has learned to live with deep snow since they where born. You dont have to worry, we know what we are doing.
@Tennessee44444 Wow... We live in a country that has like the top 10 snowiest winters in the world and u tell us that we cant handle snow on the streets? This was happening so damn fast, don't forget that Sweden is a low populated country so we hadn't enough people to work with it. What you want us to do, go out with flamethrowers?
@Tennessee44444 Did you notice that approximately 2 metres of snowdepth. Where do you put that amount when it comes down on you over night - in your tennesseeian backyard?
@Tennessee44444 You see all that snow in the video that came in one night it was almost no snow outside before the night. Everyone was asleep and the snow just came The army and the local snow removal were chocked and were trying all day to get people's houses and cars out from the snow so that should answer your question =)
And you think you're the one who can teatch us anything? What do you do when you get 6.6 fett of snow in two days? Why don't you contact your own people in Washington DC and teatch them how to cope? *lol*
Looks like Michigan in winter, but a little bit more tame (We've gotten around 100 inches of snow in a few weeks).

I remember this. Was only 6 years old. Many of the snowdrifts ware about 3-4 times my height. That is how a true winter should be. Not like the recent years with rain, and just grayish weather all winter.
Muckfanskapshelvete 1 year ago 10
@Muckfanskapshelvete Last winter was pretty good if you like snow. Looks like this one might be as well. The winter 1998, as far as I can remember, wasn't all that good.
bonecrime 1 year ago 2
@bonecrime the thing wasn't about 1.5 meter snow. The thing was that all came down in one snow fall during two days.
I remeber when I got home from SF, US that weekend. Slept ower in Stockhom, because no trains to Gävle. Got a ride with friends to Gävle, but still had to walk 10 km with all luggage I had to get to city center where I lived, and this was monday or tuesday, one-two days after the snow.
(could miss some thing, it was a long time ago) :)

omg... the winter is really sad! :(
i wonder whether the people who live in cold countries really like all that snow, or whether they just tell themselves they like, only because that´s something they cannot change. i´m affraid i´m not man enough to deal with ice lol!
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick What no? i live in sweden and we love snow, we really do, when the first snow comes in november its about time for some cosy christmas and hot chocolate. Maby those who live in sibiria thinks its to cold but snow makes you appreciate summer, i dont think i could live in a country were there is summer all around...
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred thanks! it´s always interesting to see how people are so different all around the world... i love to live on the beaches and have summer all year long, and you love the snow and see it as a way to notice the importance of the summer. the world would be so boring if everyone would think the same way, isn´t? :)
btw, i know it must sound weird for the ones who like a white christmas, but i´d recommend to try our summer christmas once! changes can be really good sometimes!

if you decide to come to australia, be welcome, it´s indeed a wonderful country! and i´d like to visit sweden in july 2011 (in the summer of course!), let´s see!

@stanleyanick Thats awesome, when you come to sweden you should visit Dalarna and the lake Siljan, this is were i live and its in the middle of sweden :) im a boy, Zhred stands for Shred, iam a mountainbike freerider so we say so when we are gonna ride, shred the woods with our bikes down the mountain :)
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred good tips man, I´ve seen some pics of dalarna, indeed a great place! so you´re freerider, that´s cool!
I come from the region of darwin, in the north of Australia. but I´ve spent many years in south america! all the countries where I´ve been are fascinating. and now I´m very interested in sweden, althought it´s a bit too cold. for sure an amazing country!
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick thats cool :)! In winter we can have up to minus 30 degrees celcius but most summers we have 25-30 degreese celcius heat, so summers would be a good idea :)!
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred wow, minus 30, man! i´d freeze in two seconds, i don´t have your resistance! :) where I was born is a warm place, we can have 30 celcius also during the winter. during the summer we have normally between 28-36 celcius. so the summer in sweden would be ok for us, but not hotter than some winter days in my city. that´s pretty funny! :)
i´d like to see the middnight sun and to swim in the lakes, that´s be perfect!

@stanleyanick Haha let me tell you, i really dont have that much resistance to dropping temperature eather. Yeah we got a lot of lakes, i think finland got more but we got a couple of tousands to haha :) Stockholm is also a visit you should make, its the capital of sweden but i guess you allready know that :)
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred you don´t have resistance? so como to live in australia, man! or at least in the countries where I´ve been (spain, greece, brazil, peru...), haha! unfortunatelly I´ve never been in sweden (actually is my wife who knows scandinavian), but I really would like to visit your country! not only sweden but also norway. have you ever been in norway or finland?
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick ok i got resistance but when it drops down to 30 your nose kind of freezes hehe. Yeah i have been in norway, its beautiful to, they got big mountains and lakes down on the sides. I havnt been to finland i dont know how it looks over there :) What do australians think about americans? im just qurieous :)
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred you´ve got more resistance than I have, for sure. I´d die with -30 celsius. I suffer a lot already with zero degrees! I´ve once met the snow and I didn´t like the experience (beautiful, but a white hell!). that´s why I admire people who can live in cold places! :)
well, in fact I don´t know very much of the americans, but I always try to see the best side of every people in the world. what about you in sweden? what do you think about americans in general?
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick Hehe yeah, when you get use to it i think its more easy to enjoy :) I think the Americans are awesome sometimes and sometimes theyre not, its intressting to see what people all over the world thinks becouse its so big country. Have you ever been to ayers rock?
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred unfortunatelly not! that´s funny, I´ve spent so many years travelling that I´ve never been in many cool places in my own country, haha! but I´m doing it one day, for sure! I´d like to bring my kids to this trip. and you, what countries in the world have you already visited?
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick yeah you should :) im 19 so i havnt been to so many places, ive been in greece, thats the farest away ive been, greece is awesome, so nice water and warm weather. have you been there? :)
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred you´ll have plenty of time to travel, you´re quite young, still a boy! yeah, greece is amazing! I´ve been to athen and also to kreta, and you? ah, so you like hot temperatures too! :) I could recommend some places in south america, if you´re interested in. they´re just like us in australia: whenever it´s winter in north hemisphere, it´s summer there! alway the opposite. that means: they have spring at this moment (we too); meanwhile, it´s autumn in sweden!
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick Yeah im a boy, nice i was to a island named kefalonia it was very dry and lot of fire in some places and it was a earthquake on one morning ! :O how old are you?
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred wow man, what an adventure you´ve been throught! :) but that was nothing for a boy who´s man enough to face -30 celcius every year, right! I´m 32, you were still a kid when I was about your age. Nowadays I´m a father and a man in love with his wife! :)
stanleyanick 1 year ago
@stanleyanick Hahaha yeah iguess so, my mom were more scared, but i think that was becouse i was sleeping and i thought it was massage, when i wokeit was a real earthquake, but it stoped some seconds after i woke up. Yeah but 32 is not that old, i think you could call youreself old when youre going over 50 maby :) Thats awesome! i also want a wife when im around 30 :)!
zhred 1 year ago
@zhred thanks, but maybe 50 is also not that old! :) yeah, having a wife and being a daddy is pretty cool! I really admire my partner for being able to give birth to our children, that´s a real adventure. if you find a nice woman who´ll always be your friend, so you´re right, you should have a wife! nowadays it´s easier to get married, women and men do everything together (watch the children, earn money, housework) and there´re no more traditional roles as by the time of our grandpas hahaha!

aldorias 7 months ago

You swedes think you know everything. All I was saying was that you(Swedes) dont know how to deal with Snow storm. This video clip proves it. Follow the examples of how U.S deals with winter storms. Thaz all folks.
Tennessee44444 1 year ago
I don't think this was anything like your regular winter storm. The point is there was so much snow, coming so fast, nobody would be able to handle it. There just wasn't enough machinery nor people to handle it right away. How would you handle it in USA, strap a plow to your SUV/truck and make the snow magically dissapear?

@Tennessee44444 Did you notice that approximately 2 metres of snowdepth. Where do you put that amount when it comes down on you over night - in your tennesseeian backyard?

@Tennessee44444 You see all that snow in the video that came in one night it was almost no snow outside before the night. Everyone was asleep and the snow just came The army and the local snow removal were chocked and were trying all day to get people's houses and cars out from the snow so that should answer your question =)
