I would have to disagree with how you order food in Germany. "Ich will" is more a no go here. Something a child might say when wanting candy. It literally means "I want", yes, but it is not the norm and is taken as impolite. As you know, not everything in German can have a 1 to 1 translation.
Zum Beispiel, I am cold isn't "ich bin kalt" as that is translated as cold-hearted. You would say "mir ist kalt"
Ich möchte gerne (I would like), Ich hätte gern(I'll have) or Ich nehme(I'll take)
I didn't except the breakfasts to be that small... Good thing I don't eat very early, otherwise I would be sad. I heard coffee in europe is very strong, which I like!
