It's a pity that their potential was suffocated so much by Niyazov, and apparently still is under the new president, as the recent stories regarding the treatment of students wanting to study in Kyrgyzstan appears to prove.

Considering how many years the intellectuals have been repressed and treated as enemies of the state, one might have imagined ignorance being commonplace among the Turkmenistan natives, so it's interesting to see how clever some of these people are when asked tough questions about Turkmenbashi.
