I'm a scientist and appreciate the video of your testing facilities and test procedures...I would expect that from a company that has been around as long as K&N. I have a 2008 corvette and researched the Callaway Honker and the Vararam CAI products. What I don't like about those systems is that you have to cut a template for installation. I like the fact that there is no cutting of my vette for the K&N installation. Congratulations on a good product.
@RobeeBarrera It is against federal law in the United States for a manufacturer to require the use of a specific brand of air or oil filter unless it provides a replacement air or oil filter, free of charge, under the terms of the vehicle warranty. For a more thorough discussion of this law known as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, see our Vehicle Warranty Section of our Air Filter Facts page, and our Letter Regarding Vehicle Warranty and K&N Replacement Filters on our site.
What's the difference between a filter and an intake??? does the intake replace the whole stock air box? whereas the filter is a replacement for the stock filter that's in the air box? O_O_O_O. HELP GUYS =S
@28monkeyking28 The intake system will replace the stock tube and air box with a new system and the stock replacement is a direct swap with the stock filter.
Yokohama1, I'm having Ford Fiesta 1.6 Sedan and its brand new so I just wanna know that, are K &N filters are good for performance in compare of HKS filters ?
Air flow should be last. Then the effectives then capacity. The whole point of an airfilter is to protect the engine. I'm a huge fan of K&N and have used them on all my machines. (actually I just bought a new air lid for my C3 Vette just need to get it to measure and see what K&N will work for it)
@mr010tommy010 For the 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.8L, we offer an OE replacement filter that will give a 1-4 HP increase (part 33-2251), and a full intake system that showed a 14.24 HP and an 11.91 lbft of torque increase on the dyno (part 57-3042).
@KNfilters HOW MUCH FOR A DUAL RAM AIR INTAKE 2008 G35 WITH PANEL FILTERS ?? From the factory Infiniti states their DRAI addes 3 horsepower at 60 mph, SAE rates it at 306 hp. Infiniti's number is 309 including the intake's added 3 horsepower. How much should you have then ? 312 ? 3 hp over normal OEM filters in a Dual Ram Air Intake ?
@650Gus Unfortunately, at that time we only had the GEN 1 kits. When we started producing the GEN 2 kits in the later 90’s we incorporated the heat shields and new tubes.
I got a 57 intake on my 06 Grand Prix, its awesome, how often to i have to recharge it? I usually clean it and recharge it after my car hits its schedule milieage for a oil change and inspection.
@The1FastGP The filters on our intake kits need to be cleaned every 50,000-100,000 miles, or when dirt meets or exceeds the wire mesh. As the filter taps dirt, the efficiency will become greater without the flow rate dropping at all. Over cleaning the filter has no benefit to air flow, but can damage the filter.
@KNfilters Thank you, one last question. My filter is a cone, i can clean the outer cleats, but is it necessary to clean/spray the inside? It is very difficult. to clean/spray the inner cleats.
@The1FastGP You only need to spray the cleaner on the outside of the filter, rinse from the inside to the outside, and then apply oil to the outside when dry.
whats up with k&n making only a cai for a 00 crown victoria but not for a 00 grand marquis when they fit the same in every way ???? tones of people are putting this intake on the grand marquis with no problems but you dont sell it for this car ??
@CREAMFILLEDANISH85 The reason we list the kit only for the Crown Victoria and not the Grand Marquis is because we never got a Grand Marquis in to test fit the kit to. We will not list product for an application unless we test fit it first to be 100% sure it works.
@KNfilters ooooo,,ok,,,,i am 100% sure it fits just like the crown vic,,,,,if you were in orlando i would be glad to give you my car to test fit,,,,not sure but im thinking the same years on the town car are the same to but on most web pages that sale your intake for the 2000 crown vic have it listed on as it fits the grand marquis also just not on your k&n page ?? even the drop in filter fits the same oem box,,,,thanx
if anyone know im considering putting a k@n filter on my 02 impalla not a cold air custum just factory will this what benfits would i see by going k@n and is it possible that the 3.8 engine i have would not like the extra airflow
@USFCARTWRIGHT na like their going to be honest about a stock car i did talk to someone at advanced auto where they had a comparison test between fram and k@n yes the k@n had way more flow but the guy told me that it could cause probs cause the engine might not know how to deal with the extra airflow ill stick with purolater
@asus3571 iv never herd anything about a car pulling more air then it can take,,,,its pulling air not having it feed to it ,,,this is what your map and ecu is for ,, to change fuel rate and so on,,,i think this is crap started by crappy filter companys,,,,,,,
So why do K&N NEVER state what size particles their element can filter out? I wouldn't use a K&N again as the oil broke the MAF sensor and caused £200 worth of damage. Allowing large particles through causes pitting of the turbo. I stick to a paper filter, it passes more filtered air than the engine can use at full RPM. A K&N has a much smaller surface so has big holes in it. I don't rate them now as they never give any more BHP, they decreased it in my car compared to a paper filter.
@urbex2007 The reason we state which size particles are being used and what gets through is because to offer correct and accurate test data, we must. There is no such thing as a 100% efficient filter; in this case not even air could get through. Our filters start anywhere from a 96%-99% efficiency and become more efficient while collecting dirt without losing air flow, where a paper filter starts at a high efficiency (98%-99%) and clogs much quicker restricting air flow which decreases HP.
We have performed much research proving our oil does not pull from the filter or fowl a MAF sensor. In the case that an engine is harmed from the use of our products, we have a Consumer Protection Pledge. Please follow the provided links to see the MAF tests and CPP.
@cyclist14 Wrong, you have this idea that the air filter restricts flow, if that was the case, your engine would never go above a low speed. THINK about it, learn about gasflow, filtration and engines and more importantly how an engine works. That will make you understand why a K&N will not have any performance increase. I prefer not to use a K&N as it doesn't filter to the standard of a cheap paper element. FILTRATION does not mean restriction. It's a mistake all boy racers seem to make.
depends on how restrictive an air cleaner/filter performs. I once bought a cheap cold air setup and tried to use the filter that came with it on my small block 400 gmc and I was thoroughly disgusted on my way to work. My acceleration @ all rpm was so bad I turned my truck around and drove home, swapped back to my stock setup and drove to work late.
Try folding a towel in half twice, try to breath through it, then unfold it and breath through only 1 ply and then you get some idea of what I mean.
@RTJaKaL Original intakes, housings and filters are NOT restrictive. i wish all the boy racers would get a life, learn about engines and stop being taken in by wild claims from companies selling you a product. You know nothing about filtration, gasflow or engines or you wouldn't be talking so much rubbish. You are a victim of advertising and marketing. The ideal "type" this product is aimed at. That's why they make so much money, there are plenty of boy racer idiots who fall for it.
@neuspeed79 There is an agreement between companies not to do this. They would damage their own market. The best thing for the car is the original intake, housing and paper FILTER. Why put a K&N on when it is NOT providing filtration to anywhere near the standard of a paper element? Why risk damage? A paper element passes more air than the engine uses at full RPM, it's deisgned to. Standard equipment is NOT restrictive, it's a marketing lie to get you to buy. Learn how companies sell!!!!
