  • Also, using the heat pad after the shot has actually reduced my bruising. I have noted that the bruising is far more dependent on where I give the shot and not so much the manner of injection ( slow vs fast/pinching skin vs not pinching). We all figure it out eventually; what works best for each of us.

  • @hellraysinangel I have had a DVT and PE after my first ankle surgery to repair a split tendon. 15 months later I devastated the ankle by rupturing the Brevis tendon completely in half and ripping out all the previous repair work. (a rare injury btw). Now the same ankle is in a cast for an injured Achilles tendon. For the rest of my life I'll need anti-coagulation therapy after any surgery at all ( even the D&C I had last March) and during an period where I am bedridden or a limb is immobilized

  • Injection pain is of no consequence really, but injecting slower reduces the deep gut ache I get for hours after the shot. Feels like one of my horses kicked me in the gut. My Fibromyalgia is likely to blame for amplifying the pain to this absurd level and then continuing to loop the pain signal for hours.

  • Nice and slow? I think not! I can read a novel while I do mine. Hehe. A minute or more is sloooooow. Found a heat pad helps keep the awful gut ache I get afterwards in check. Good luck with your baby!

  • @AvieMare It hurts pardon me like a SOB... I don't care who you are it always feels as though a bee is stinging me. Finally I came to a point that there was no point to do it slow and just to inject as fast as possible and deal with the consequences after. Are you going through a pregnancy right now?

  • @AvieMare The nerve endings for pain are at the top layer of the epidermis. So, once you poke through, there is no more pain, other than the burning from the medication. Maybe you can try this, count. Bounce the needle on the skin, one bounce to prick the skin, second to puncture, third to follow through. One, two, three.

  • Where your miscarriages due to placental collapse or blood clots in the cord? If no one has suggested it, you may want to be tested for Factor V-Leiden. It is a mutation of the proteins, and usually inherited. It is the # 1 cause of miscarriages and still births to white women in America. It is manageable, but requires testing and family history. It causes the blood to clot too much.

  • @sandrajeanification It was due to Lupus Anticoagulant and protien s def.. I was tested after I had my beautiful baby girl 5 months back after having a stroke. I took the lovenox injections thru the pregnancy but, wasnt prescribed them afterwards.

  • @sandrajeanification Sorry I just got this. They tested me for everything under the sun. 2 Hematologists, A Cardiologist, and A FP. They recently I have been horrible at calling back because I am having insurance issues they tested me for Protein C. We will see. It was Protein S Deficiency and Lupus Anticoagulant.

  • Thanks for the tips!! We haven't tried using the ice, we will try it tonight and see how it goes. Thanks and all the best!

  • @coffeefei519 Read the information that came in your package. It is not recommended that you ice the area, because it slows the absorption. Cold causes the blood vessels to constrict. Massaging the area or heating the area afterwards, causes the blood vessels to dilate quickly, causing worse bruising. There's no easy way.

  • Thanks Hellraysinangel~~ my pray goes with you! Hope everything will go smoothly...the Lovenox is quite painful. I have my husband taking the shot every night for me, which makes me feel much better...I almost treat it as the way how we together connect to our baby :)

  • @coffeefei519 I had my husband doing mine for quite some time too. It did give us a way to connect! Then I started doing them on my own for a while until my belly got big and tight and I could no longer seem to jab myself. Just remember to have him inject super slow. No rubbing the area after and ice at first was the best thing ever!

  • @hellraysinangel I know the ice might feel good, but it slows the absorption. It is suggested that you do not massage the area afterwards either.

  • All the best to you and your baby! I just started with the Lovenox injection and I am 14 weeks along...

  • @coffeefei519 Congrats! I will be getting induced the 31st of this month. Scary! Finally made it this far. The injections will seem horrible at first but, you really do get over them in time. Keep me posted on how everything is going. Good luck and God bless!

  • So far 32 weeks and my baby girl is measuring big. Thank god for the lovenox injections and baby asprin!
