I didn't test the transulcent material very well, but it gave me the impression that it didn't depend on how much deep the light goes trough the object (But so does on your models!) So I thought it was useful for thin objects like paper or drapes. I don't know if i simply didn't set up it well..
The only parameter is colour.. Is there some normals issues or in general polygonal geometry property that i should tweak? like double sided normals or give thickness to the model?
