@PartAwesome I am fortunate enough to have met Ted Watson many years ago who so generously gave me Gracie, Corkie and Avis. Otherwise I wouldn't have them as I couldn't afford to buy them. I paid Frostie's babysitting fee to buy him. (A lady had Ted babysit him for two years.) Thanks for your comment.
Frostie is so beautiful in this video! He looks like a wise philosopher! Amazing to know that he has 21 years, and is so active. I hope he lives till 100! I love that Frostie sweety! You deserve to have a friendship so blessed like this, you give so much love one another, God made a fine choice putting you guys together! OH Yea!! :-)
Congratulations Karla, for the beautiful selection of music for your videos. Wonderful music!
@gmastraub It's skin. If you go to Frostie The Dancing Cockatoo on Facebook there is a very large photo of Frostie's "face" and you can see his eyes really good.
I am certainly a Frostie Fan! I watch the dancing videos all the time, play them for friends...lol. Such a gorgeous and talented bird. You rock, Frostie!!
@whatanightmare1 Thank you for taking the time to comment. Frostie looked so gorgeous this day! )I put him in the bathtub where I gave him a good bath, put him on his dancing perch for a good blow dry then let him sit out in the fresh air.) I love t his video! I'm surprised it doesn't have more views, quite frankly.
@OnePickieChickie Karla, I know! I love the Philharmonic playing, and Frostie just enjoying the sun and air...I was suprised more people haven't watched this one, too.
I would just love to reach out and touch him, he looks so cuddly and soft! You have done a great job with him :~)
He's happy & content when his feathers are poofy. Esp when the little feathers near his beak go toward the end of his beak. Extra happy then. I know i have a bare eyed too. Awwww too cute.
@birdlover811 I don't know. They call Frostie a Little Corella in Australia. In the USA we call him a Bare Eyed Cockatoo. That may be there in other cockatoo species but just covered up by feathers. I wish I had a way of finding out quickly but don't.
@GinnyisaPrincess Frostie looks much different when fluffed up than he does while he's dancing! He makes you want to hug him! If you watch "Hold On! I'm Coming!", there's a spot where he ruffles up and shakes his feathers and looks so cute!
@GriffinPets Canon PowerShot S5 IS in movie mode. The song was a YouTube AudioSwap and the details are available under the video if you click on the right button. I can't tell you while in the answer mode.
@vide00210 It's a digital camera with a video mode: Canon S5 IS. (Not L but I as in i) Paste that into an images dot Google search and it will come right up.
@hummingbirdlover Isn't he? I love this video! I had just given him a thorough bath in the tub, dried him with a hair drier than took him outside where he kept his feathers fluffed out to allow more air in to thoroughly dry them. He looked so pretty!
@organiqueherbs Isn't that song lovely! It takes awhile using YouTube audio swap to pick out a song .......... but I knew right away this was the one. I like it too.
He'd just had a bath in the bath tub and I'd dried him with the hair drier. If you like puffy and fluffy, watch "Frostie The Dancing Cockatoo: Acting Fierce" which is a excerpt from "Frostie The Dancing Cockatoo's Outdoor Adventure".
I'm with him all day long most every day. His cage door is rarely closed and he likes to come sit on my shoulder or lap. But because Avis does too, and they don't get along very well, I have to alternate turns.
I have to bathe my dogs in the yard by tying their leashes to a tree. They don't like it that much, but they know they'll get a treat afterward. Fortunately, they both have short hair, so they don't get too dirty and never have tangles or mats. How long have you had birds?
I'm back. Saber might bat at the screen if he saw a bird moving on it! I am impressed that you were able to bathe Frostie. Do you belong to the Seedcracker's Society, or is that only a local group? (I think they do bird rescue, shows, events like that).
No, I don't. Frostie doesn't really like a bath very much. But, it's necessary. I wait until I see him trying to take a bath in his water dish. This time I put him in the tub with about three inches of water and thoroughly soaked him because he was started to pluck on a feather that was bothering him. If you can get the skin area thoroughly soaked, it relieves the itching and helps the problem area heal.
Well, this is it. I don't know why my mom keeps watching videos of a white bird while I, a handsome white cat, am sitting on her lap, trying to groom her. She has to sign off now, or I will bite her some more! Saber (unofficial mascot of the erstwhile San Jose SaberCats)
I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH YOUR BIRD!!! You may want to insure him...;-) Any word on when we may be seeing a "new" dancing video? I still think "Ring My Bell" or something by Rick James would be hilarious! I must commend you on how happy and healthy he looks. Sooo many birds pluck as a result of neglect and lack of stimulus. Cetainly Frostie is NOT suffering. If he were mine he would be smothered in kisses 24/7. I would cuddle with him ALL the time!!!!!! <3 u Frostie!
I'm happy to hear you are enjoying Frostie's videos so much. I have no idea when I will upload a new dance video. I own four parrots and one of them is a plucker: Avis. He was that way when he was given to me and no matter what I do, he plucks the moment he can't see me. He chews all the green off his body feathers so they are gray. If I go outside, any new green gets chewed off! He can usually always see me and I play with him constantly! All 4 of my parrots are free to wander around.
I cannot explain my fascination and adoration for this bird. He is incredibly docile and his demeanor displays obvious signs of considerable intelligence.
I'm surprised he hasn't taught himself how to use a telephone and doesn't call you at work to find out how your day is going.
Also, the music is really nice; I listen to classical music when I study or am trying to learn a new skill.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I don't work and he calls me all the time when I disappear from his sight! "Kaya! Kaya! Kaya! Huh! Kaya! Kaya!" (My name is Karla.) Frostie is not a talker, although 20 years old, but suddenly started saying, "Pretty Bird!", when he and I started getting to know each other, a phrase he picked up from one of the other parrots.
Thank you very much! Chosing a YouTube AudioSwap soundtrack isn't the easiest as most of the music is pretty strange! Probably 30 of the views were from me struggling to find one that I liked. So, your comment means a lot. Thanks.
Me too! Lol! Those bags are really interesting, to say the least. If you go to MySpace and search for PickieChickie, I have some really close up photos of Frostie where you can see the veins in the bags. Thank you
Hey Frosties mom, went to your myspace but it is undergoing routine maitenance so i will check it out later. Barry, my Bare eye, has his own Myspace. Check it out by typing in "hellobarry". Keep the vodeos coming.
LOL Oh Karla! Don't be silly, we know how much you love him! His dancing perch is just a tiny part of your lives you share with us! We love Frostie, and YOU! :) Hugs dear one!! And this video is spectacular, Frostie looks absolutely REGAL all puffed up, and your accompainement musical selections have been Spot-on! You TWO make quite a team! Keep on keeping on!
Yes, he sure does! He hasn't heard Pavarotti and his ballet dancing can be described as awkward at best. About the closest he gets to that is in the "Frostie Dancing To The Butterfly Song"!
He was interacting with Avis, not dancing. I've seen parakeets (budgies) do the same thing with the neck stuck out like he did. He was trying to be friends with Avis but Avis wasn't going for it!
No, I just bought him on March 9, 2009. A couple had him for 18 years then the wife developed a life-threatening allergy to his dander so he was being baby-sat at a friends for two years. I fell in love with Frostie and spent a lot of time playing with him where he was being babysat. During that play time, I made the videos!
Every time I put him on the ground, he would climb up that chicken wire fence even thought there were plenty of other options. It's not an issue anymore because I bought him and he no longer lives where that fence is!
Although the sun was out and there was not a breeze, this video was shot on March 7 and it was a bit cool out. Plus, I'd just given him a thorough bath and blow dry so he was airing out his feathers I think! Lol! Watch "Frostie's Outdoor Adventure" and you'll see him really puff up! It's a very cute video!
WE GOT a misty mate mister. pump up the bottle, it sprays a very fine quiet mist. our cockatiel tweety LOVED it, fluffed up every feather until she looked like a giant dandelioin puffball!
There's only been one time that I've seen Frostie try to take a bath in his water dish. I got him out and put him on his now famous perch and he spread his wings and just ate it up.
I've tried to give him baths before, especially when he was plucking, and he wouldn't go for that!
Try to get a baby that is totally weaned from handfeeding and is eating totally on it's own without suplimental handfeedings. Your best bet is to contact your local chamber of commerce to find the number of the bird club president or secretary in your county. If you buy directly from a reputable breeder, you will not only get a better price, you will be able to learn what you need to know from them. Because they have spent so much time with the bird, they will love it and will help you.
Absolutely! I scan the sky every time I am outside with any of the parrots. Thank you and please be assured I am very careful and am not out there drunk or high, but very alert to the situation!
Frostie just had a very thorough soaking of his body down and was looking his very best! It's funny to see him just sitting there after all that gyrating he does on that stand! Lol!
frostie thinks to himself 'i am so perplexed by this classical music with no beat whatsoever and why arent there any other birds as great as me.. hmm.. what a shame that there is no one else as refined and as classy as my gifted self'
I get a online site called Avian Enrichment and Frosty was mentioned. It was about birds dancing and how do they do it. It has a link to Frosty's youtube video. Snowball was also mentioned.
He's adorable! I have two parakeets, and they loved your video of Frostie dancing! I showed it to them, and they chirped the whole time xD

Great video and Frostie looks like he is enjoying it - but - that wire has got to hurt his feet. Can't you put a perch there for future.
pami59 2 years ago
Every time I put him on the ground, he would climb up that chicken wire fence even thought there were plenty of other options. It's not an issue anymore because I bought him and he no longer lives where that fence is!

Oh that's great you were able to purchase Frostie. He seems to be a great "TOO" and you a great "parront".

You know, I never saw a BE, that big and fluffy.

Birds are so cute when they puff up, unless they are sick (of course)!
OnePickieChickie 2 years ago
That was sweet, but what about the tubbath? Is Frosty shy?????
mangolefty 2 years ago

Because they have spent so much time with the bird, they will love it and will help you.

frostie thinks to himself 'i am so perplexed by this classical music with no beat whatsoever and why arent there any other birds as great as me.. hmm.. what a shame that there is no one else as refined and as classy as my gifted self'

I get a online site called Avian Enrichment and Frosty was mentioned. It was about birds dancing and how do they do it. It has a link to Frosty's youtube video. Snowball was also mentioned.
