First off, anyone who truly knows smartphones would know that the text size isn't due to a SUPER-AMOLED vs Retina Display. As you can clearly see when both phones are on the same site they are in different formats. You see more of the website on Epic 4G, and less of the website on iPhone 4, thus making the text appear a bit smaller Epic than it is on iPhone. Won't look to this place for anymore reviews. FAIL

I got epic 4g. 3 keyboards. Slide out. Dual orientations keyboards wth swype and speech to text buttons. Pretty cool. Swype is what beats iphone (have not seen it on one yet). In school, everytime (almost) someone gets a new phone its iphone. Put em both flat on the table circled by kids, everyone can see (provided I don't have a [stupid] privacy screen protector) the epic from all angles. IPhone 4 ppi = 326. Epic 4g = 300. iPhone clearly has a higher pixel density than the epic 4g. However, I still believe (after comparing the two side by side) that the epic 4g has slightly darker black tones than the iPhone 4. Both are fantastic displays, but I do have to agree with this fanboy's video. The iPhone's display is slightly better.

This reviewer is so biased, it is really funny;-) The colors on the i-phone 4 don't look sharper;-) The colors on the amoled display blow the i-phone away.
I think for this review, you should have loaded the same pictures and videos on the devices and played them from there. I've compared the two and I haven't found any pictures that look "sharper in color" than the super amoled screen compared to the iPhone 4's display. It might be crispier, but the color on the super amoled just blows all phones away. I haven't tried video, but I would think it would perform just as well. It was a nice effort for the video, but I think there are some flaws.

Also, Retina is the most advanced display technology in existance. You could, in theory, have a 20" Retitan display with a resolution of 5760x3240. That's 3240p. I want to see super amoled does that. And that's just 20" lol. Don't even get me started on a 40" or more displays...
Not making a comment either way as to which display is better, but the first text reading comparison was somewhat pointless since the text on the iphone was clearly larger than on the epic.... Of course it will be easier to read if it's bigger... a better comparison for that would include zooming in on the epic until the font sizes are as close to the same as possible.

Tell you the truth, I can read the text on my 2nd gen iPod touch quite well. While zoomed out. I don't get the big deal over the "high-res" display. Sure it's cool to have, but give me Super AMOLED. It's far more impressive, and not only that, unique.
FYI, The Epic only starts videos in high quality (automatically) when you have a wifi/4g connection -obviously to increase speed-. BTW, I notice your comparison is very bias. It's very obvious how you automatically criticize the Epic but fail to say anything negative about the Iphone… This video is not very thorough or reliable. You should get to know both phones equally before you do any kind of comparison.

i think sunlight test was rigged. look at the first test, now look at the third test, which is after the sunlight test, and back at the first. notice iphone is brighter than the epic in the third test but a little dimmer at the first test

I've got an epic and I know for DAMN sure that the screen brightness wasn't automatic. The other day, around noon, 72 degrees, NO clouds and I know for damn sure I wouldn't have been able to see anything on any other phone!

No point at all. doesn't matter what website your on. ive compared my captivate with 6 of my friends with the iphones and the results are very clear. Galaxy S has way better colors, brighter, and much better on sunlight than the Iphones display.

IPhone 4 ppi = 326. Epic 4g = 300. iPhone clearly has a higher pixel density than the epic 4g. However, I still believe (after comparing the two side by side) that the epic 4g has slightly darker black tones than the iPhone 4. Both are fantastic displays, but I do have to agree with this fanboy's video. The iPhone's display is slightly better.

Slightly higher pixel resolution is meaningless to user experience.
YOU ARE NOT going to even notice the slight pixel difference, unless someone pointed it out to you.
The Epic blows iPhone away in every other visual aspect you could mention.
blacklevel, contrast, color saturation, even responsiveness Epic is better.
He kept the IPhone plugged in so the max brightness wont drop.
The font size in iPhone browser was larger.

Everyone who compares the RETINA vs. Super AMOLED. you can't compare the two. Cause the SAMOLED is 800x480 and the Retina is 960x640. So obvisouly the iPhone is more clear. U can't even compare those two for clearness. You can compare them for color density, but not clearness. Ok.

Epic its a winning bargin. i get two phones for $300, then i also get to pay $70 less month(unlimited too) over at&t, i can actually receive calls without a condom, and use video chat without wifi, hmm i wonder which is better. I love Apple i have a macBPro and imac, and the iphone is nice but the retina display is made to be "way better" but unless side by side i cant see the difference, in which i would pick epic over iphone. plus what about the keyboard, meaning i can see my whole display!!

I'vs seen both screens in real life and even though the epics screen has superior black levels and saturation,Everything u look at no matter what it is,has a blue cast to it.whites are blue and every image looks crappy to me cause of it.And i think the 4s looks alot cleaner lookin.

I think for this review, you should have loaded the same pictures and videos on the devices and played them from there. I've compared the two and I haven't found any pictures that look "sharper in color" than the super amoled screen compared to the iPhone 4's display. It might be crispier, but the color on the super amoled just blows all phones away. I haven't tried video, but I would think it would perform just as well. It was a nice effort for the video, but I think there are some flaws.

Also, Retina is the most advanced display technology in existance. You could, in theory, have a 20" Retitan display with a resolution of 5760x3240. That's 3240p. I want to see super amoled does that. And that's just 20" lol. Don't even get me started on a 40" or more displays...

Not making a comment either way as to which display is better, but the first text reading comparison was somewhat pointless since the text on the iphone was clearly larger than on the epic.... Of course it will be easier to read if it's bigger... a better comparison for that would include zooming in on the epic until the font sizes are as close to the same as possible.

Tell you the truth, I can read the text on my 2nd gen iPod touch quite well. While zoomed out. I don't get the big deal over the "high-res" display. Sure it's cool to have, but give me Super AMOLED. It's far more impressive, and not only that, unique.

FYI, The Epic only starts videos in high quality (automatically) when you have a wifi/4g connection -obviously to increase speed-. BTW, I notice your comparison is very bias. It's very obvious how you automatically criticize the Epic but fail to say anything negative about the Iphone… This video is not very thorough or reliable. You should get to know both phones equally before you do any kind of comparison.
