  • Of course there are people who are naturally a Size 4 but these are usually very petite women. Aiming to be a Size 4 when naturally you're a Size 12 is what leads to many women becoming overweight, like the doctor said. You should eat what your body requires; over or under eating for periods of time leads to yoyo dieting. I myself am a Medium (UK Size 10 to 14) and would never dream of being smaller because THIS is my natural shape. I could never naturally be a 4 because at 5''5, I'm not petite.

  • You know there are naturally thin people who can be a size zero without any effort. Those people need to be a size zero. This show and others make it seem that size zero is evil.. ONLY for people who are not genetically designed to be there. If you have to starve and take pills to get there, guess what? It is not in your best interest to be size zero.

    BTW, she has been hungry for almost a month so I didn't think the hunger pains would still be so severe..

  • I really dislike how she compares herself to an anorexic, she doesnt have an eating disorder she is on a diet.

  • Why is her trainer having her eat so little and work out so much that she is throwing up? Is this how most ballerinas, dancers, gymnast, etc. are trained? Do they get sick like this too? Why are the standards so impossible to get without feeling horribly sick? Why isn't anyone doing anything about eating disorders? We need an eating disorder awareness month much more than breast cancer.

    I went to a summer music camp with dancers, they would eat a piece of fruit or two at meals and nap during the day when they weren't practicing.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist He knows it's bad it's just that she wanted to do this in 4 weeks. This is her last week so they were down to the wire. Boy! no one should lead that life.

  • I hate to say it because I love the cause Louise is fighting for... but some things I feel are kind of "overdramatized" either by the director or by her. Of course she feels miserable eating a lot less and cutting out foodgroups - the body responds to it and it doesn't feel nice. However... this is not starvation. She talks about her hunger like she is starving in the desert... I think it's exaggerated to make a point, and I get that, but I do think it's a bit over the top. Sorry...

  • I hate to say it because i dont like this kind of thing but,,,, she is looking kind of good that skinny.

  • you can sort of tell when someones anorexic or bulemic by their face. it sucks back and it becomes more angular. its almost like their eyes sink in and the apples of their cheeks disappear. Louise definately has makeup on. there's no way she could have that sort of color at this point.

  • Not only do studio mirrors often make you look bigger, the very fact that you are constantly having to look at yourself in a mirror wearing a leotard makes you feel awful.

  • the one thing about this show is that they fail to mention that people who are over weight have eating disorters too.

  • @crewlla Yeah, and I'm annoyed. There's a thing called binge eating, and it's never published - bulimia and anorexia are the "popular" ones.

    I love exercising - but just because it makes me feel strong!

  • @0RatRoomProductions0 so do I but, I had to get surgery done so I could be healthy again. still have to work threw emotional eating, binge eating and cravings. I also have to suffer, and everyone around me has to suffer the chemical inbalances I am having.

  • @crewlla so true, I have an eating disorder and I'm overweight. I have dealt with anorexia before so my my weight has been all over the place.

  • @crewlla EVERYONE has an eating disorder of some form, and I am convinced of this. If you don't pig out people tell you, you're anorexic. Some people are bulimic because of medical issues some because of mental issues. People who eat healthy are considered orthorexic, and if you're fat they tell you, you have binge or compulsive eating disorder.

    And I do not think all fat people have eating disorders, although some do.

  • @faylinameir I was 300 pounds and I had weight loss surgery, I know I had and still have a eating disorder but didnt realize it when I was big... but I do notice it now. I lost most of my friends when I lost weight, had marriage problems and a bit of a shopping addiction. I have seen both sides of being over weight and being thin. I figure being to thin is harmful to you and being to big is harmful. I like being medium. that is healthy.

  • Yo! I was just remarking that the studio mirrors on my ballet class make you look fat on purpose. This isn't me being facetious or anything, because I tested it out on three different mirrors and the studio mirrors definitely make you look fat and squat.

    I wasn't one to actually worry about my weight, but when I started taking up ballet (August) and saw the tiniest roll while bending on the side, I nearly freaked. It's easy to start doubting your body.

  • how can she be that hungry. it doesnt work that why, when she started she was complaining about how terrible she felt but firstly her body would be running off fat and then she would enter starvation mode and wouldnt feel hungry, my friend had anorexia and after 30 days of eating less than louise she wasnt that hungry and sher didnt throw up, i dont think this program is very reliable.

  • I agree, all of these shows say that the effects are pretty much instant but if you watch videos on fasting, those people say how wonderful and pure they feel. I think it's the persons state of mind. I feel absolutely fine and I rarely get hungry myself.

  • even though your body runs off fat it still makes you feel awful and grumpy, because your body isn't used to having to run off fat, its use to running of carbohydrates and protein and calories. Its like the equivilent of needing to push your care by yourself and not having petrol to fuel it.

  • 98 pounds is pretty small for a grown woman. Like...tiny.

  • Depends on her height. I'm 5'1 for instance, and 98 pounds is perfectly acceptable at my height.

  • You should watch Super Skinny Me. It's basically the "not celebrity" version of this where the girl's calorie intake is dropped down to 800 I believe. Her diet was drastically changed from what it was before and she was definitely more "whiny" and demonstrative than this woman.

  • I recently watched Super Skinny Me. The girl had only 500 calories a day!

  • This sounds dumb, but how can people not know how to throw up? Sorry... I just knew how before... no one told me how... it just felt like if when you accidentally choke on something and can throw up, if you purposely choke yourself with your finger and have the same affect.... well that was the most pointless post. But yea thats so stupid... teaching people to vomit.

  • Sounds like she's dehydrated...

    but i know exactly how she feels... some times i don't eat much and then work out for about an hour and a half of the treadmill... OMG! It feels horrible... but i find that if you lie completely flat on the floor the feeling will subside

  • Instead of lying down you should be drinking plenty of water throughout the day and actually eat food!

  • I do drink plenty of water (8-14 glasses depending on the day)

    but after a workout sometimes that feeling will come even if you eat plenty.

  • I was speaking more generally, sorry. I wasn't trying to imply anything directly to you. I find it very sad though that there are many girls/ women that feel the need to starve themselves and also work out for ridiculous amounts of time.

  • At the end of this, the trainer Barry says "Your look great!"

    In my opinion, that is the worst thing he could say. Those 3 words are so triggering for diets to get out of hand when one is going on a starvation diet. It's people like him who make women feel that is how they NEED to look in order to look good.

    A shame.

  • From personal experience, I'll just tell you that it feels amazing. That's why.

  • Probably because the acid in your stomach starts to build up, which makes you vomit the acid and bile. However, it could be that her immune system is lowered meaning she's picked up a 24 hour virus resulting in her sickness, if it is this though, I'd say it's surprising a few days later she manages to go straight to LA and work out like crazy! Usually you'd need far longer in bed to recover if you had a low immune system.

  • according 2 most doctors it is 1,000. Because ur body burns calories doing the simplist of tasks, like moving a finger. It needs a certain amount of cals 2 start the day. And that's not even counting those who have full schedules, who don't rest till they're in their beds sleeping. Anything less then that n u r starving ur body, cutting down it's energy supply.

  • yeah i know all about bmr etc, ive read countless times that the figure is 900, but 100 calories probably doesn't make a huge difference anyway.

  • didn't she like eat 800cals a day, that's quite alright, it's not that dramatic. But it's probably because she isn't used to it..

  • yeah, 800 could be like yogurt and fruit for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and tuna salad for dinner, or whatever other combo

  • Cut those 3 meals into 6-8 n ur good 2 go. Might want 2 add some chicken or something though...

  • it's actually extremely easy to unconsciously starve yourself. You start eating a certain way and you get used to it but you live your life the same way. It's an awful life but you drown in it and you learn to love it a bit.

  • She's not being very honest, actually. I admire the good intentions and I agree that what we do to ourselves isn't necessarily healthy, but there's also reasons why it becomes addictive. She didn't even try to be objective.
