@178890905 If you look closely you can see the shot has a slight angle with a tangent line breaking to his right (our left). He is using bottom (draw) in conjunction with that tangent line to move the cue ball back up the table. This shot comes up a lot and if you find your self with a shot like this but with no tangent line, you can "cheat the pocket" to create one. I think FF has a video on cheating the pocket also. Hope this helped, and have fun playing!
anyone who plays pool should eventually learn the masse and piquet shots...they're the most difficult as well as the most estetic shots of all...when you master those, you should be able to fully enjoy the game; plus...you won't become a template player, instead you'll have your own specific style of play and you will be more appreciated by other players and yourself...
Hey Man, I've been playing pool for about 23 years now, and I have to give some props man!!! I have people all the time asking me how they can improve their games, and after finding you videos, I'm definitey gonna direct them to your vids. Even myself playing for the years that I have I myself learned some new techniques that can help my game better. Keep Up the Kick Ass Vids Man!!!
Your videos are excellent! We just bought our first house, and guess what... There is a pool table in the basement! If you'd like to see it, look at our "house tour part 1".
I have not played in about 15 years so there is a bunch of rust on me. My 10 year old daughter is also very excited to have our own table.
We need new cues, I can't stand not having "my" cue :(
I watched about five or six vids over the past 45 minutes. All very good stuff. I'm only beginning to learn to look one shot ahead, let alone three. So thanks for the basic - but QUITE essential - pointers on strokes (follow, stun and draw) as well as positioning. I can't wait to get to a table to try this!
@darrellreedy Getting to the table is the most important aspect of improving. While your there have a plan, pay attention to your body and what you are doing and try to replicate success. Good luck and welcome to the game.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of putting paper on the table. I racked my brain trying to come up with a way to practise my aim. I'll try that now.
I do a similar drill, except you place the object ball 1 diamond out from the center pocket, then place the cue ball 1 diamond out from the 3rd diamond on the long rail (where you have the other piece of chalk in your video).
You then toss a piece of chalk randomly on the table.
The object of the drill is to pocket the object ball in the corner pocket, and have the cue ball roll to the target chalk, barely nudging it.
Forcefollow, I think this is a very interesting idea for a practice drill however I also think that this would be most suitable for people with their own tables because it would unfortunately not be worth one's time or money to try such a drill in a pool hall or at a bar. While I totally agree with what you said in your video, I believe that this constraint is what makes most people practice in pool halls by scattering balls and pocketing them randomly.
i disagree doing this at a pool hall will not only allow you to increase your game but allow others to ask questions and if lucky have other players that are greater than them give them much needed advice.
It's a centerball hit with right english - he uses a little bit more than "stun" force. The right english will help it travel to the right. However, if it had more of a cut you could use just center ball hit based off of the deflection angle of the cueball from that of the object ball and where you wanted it to end up.
So you say that he hits in the middle of the OB which goes to the pocket because of the right english on the CB? I thought applying english affects only the path of the CB after it hits the OB, not the OB's path itself. thanks for sharing, I'm new to pool. Can you please say what english type he applied on the CB at the end of the video where his CB went all the way up ?
The type of shots that he suggests are good practice, I agree, but he doesn't explain exactly how to make these shots. Like that first one: How do you get the cue ball to change direction like that? I know to use English, but how, exactly?
I generally really like your vids but i have to agree with live4theweekend2's comment. rather than point us to your other vids, which i have already watched and do enjoy very much, could you please elaborate somewhere on this video page?
Are you using english? etc... You say this drill is intended for beginners but its very difficult without more detailed/specific guidance on how to make the shots.
I like these vids, only started watching them this weekend, but I've found the info. & demonstrations useful for learning. Now I just need too apply all this on Tuesday when I have my Billiards class! I think I will play a smarter game for sure!
Hey, nice video, but i just dont get how the ball nicely ends at the business card. No matter what i do, it doesnt go where i want it to go. Sorry im very noob at this.
another great practice is to draw an imaginary circle around the area where you want the cue ball to go(about 6 inches in diameter).if you do it for every shot you will see major improvement.
The hard tip retains less chalk making it easier to miscue. The tip of your cue should be the ruffly the curviture of a nickle. Your overall lack of cueball control is just lack of experience. I too started playing pool in the lobby of my wife's dorm.
this is a wonderful practice routine and i found it useful to rip up a little piece of a paper towel and put it in the places where i was positioning the cue ball and the object ball. by the way all of the videos by the guy are really good and helped my game alot. i highly recommend that you take a look at some of his others if interested.
can anyone tell me why the cue ball always goes to the right but not the left? i'm dumb thanks!

rehabwrestler23, I use the chalk to mark the table for the position of the cueball and object ball. Awesome way to practice.
