In 1968 These cars were originally SS/BA for Automatic Cars and SS/B for 4 Speed Cars and rated at 425 HP Stock, but actaul HP was more like 470 HP Stock.Shirley Won her Class at the US Nationals in Indy in 1968 in Her SS/BA Drag On Lady 68 Dodge Dart and ran 11.0's in the 1/4
A friend of mine owns the Famous Drag On Lady 68 Dodge Dart Factory Hemi Race Car that was Originally Owned by H.L Shahan and Shirley Shahan Bridges( Shirley remarried ).These cars did not come with Lexan windows, they were however light weight glass windows, they also did not come with Aluminum Seats, they were modified seats out of a Dodge A100 Van with Aluminum seat brakets.
These cars in SS/AH trim weigh about 3200lbs with driver. Horsepower in the faster cars is about 940. Don't get fooled by the word "stock" these are about a liberal as the rules can be for these cars. Stock compression ratios, carburetors and cylinder head volumes.
@5191keith Well some of these guys have there facts wrong. First off they came from the factory with 600-750HP, they ran mid 10's back in the 60's. Today theyre running in the low 8's. Theyre not allowed to change anything in that class, has to be what it came with basically, but they can massage some more power out of it (900ish). 2nd These cars did not weigh much, fiberglass hood/fenders/aluminum seats/lexan glass/thin bumpers/seat belts holding up the windows etc. Around 2800lbs or less.

"stock they were around 450-500, but it takes very very little to get them much higher"
Yeah and that Dart didn't weigh very much so 500hp should be enough to launch her into orbit.

@joesphx19 try around 700 hp for the s/s darts and barracuds

How much horsepower in reality does a beast like this car actually have?
In more realistic rates i mean, over 750-800 bhp? Correct?
Eddiemotor 3 years ago
closer to 2000+ BHP judging by the sound

When they're set up for SS/AH like this car is, they make about 1400 and run mid 8's.
