@Redmond91 True. Ours are fairly new along with the bfa's, though we don't have "blank discriminators" for some reason so they're always jamming on us during training. We may be getting the new lightweight gimps some time before we go to afghanistan.
Fonkyman the Americans are using a version of this weapon unless the footage I have seen from Iraq is incorrect and secondly the Britisn army is using this weapon in Iraq and Afghanistan to great effect it has a greater range weight of fire and stopping power over the minimi which it supplements in each section.
First off it looks like he's firing blanks check the yellow markings on the barrel. If you've ever fired a machine gun before you know to fire three to five round bursts unless you are using the gun in a sustained fire role. In the British army its called the GPMG a versian of the Belgian FN MAG. The americans use a versian of it now. Its a great weapon I've trusted my life with it a few times.
last time i cheked american didnt have this weapon man
you always had the m60 right,.. and most armies no are stepping over to the ''minimi'' because in todays urban warefare these giants are becoming less usefull
In the US it has the designation "M240", I think. It has a different flash eliminator. I don't know if the parts are interchangeable with L7. FN parts can be tight.
"Less useful" - you're joking, right?! Or is that what you've been taught by your instructors (if in the mil).
Minimi is cute and versatile but GPMG punches harder and further. This baby chews through brick walls. It's a real asset in OBUA.
@TrevWindsorSmythe its a heavy motherfucker aswell, plus it jams like a little bitch and when you start firing the enemies rounds seem to magnetise towards you.
@TrevWindsorSmythe this isnt a minimi. this is a general purpose machine gun, which fires a 7.62 NATO round. the FN Minimi and its sister m249 are both 5.56 NATO.
@monkeyskitz The Minimi does come in a 7.62 version as well. We use it here in Australia, but only in limited numbers, most of our Minimis are 5.56. They have been reviewing calibre choice since Afghanistan though, and the 7.62 minimi, MAG 58 and the SR-25 are becoming more popular and widely used as the Taliban are engaging Australian (and other allies presumably) forces well outside the effective range of their 5.56mm Austeyrs, Minimis and M4s.
GPMG owns all!!

*OPERATION* SW Schimitar? Did you waste many marines.
If not, why not? Bootnecks are fat and make easier targets on account of their size... ;-)

maccad2009 2 years ago
He was firing it properly not wanting to burn out the barrel. It has a pretty fast rate of fire 650 to 1000 rounds a minute.

The C-6 is deadly acurate, pal. It is effective up to 1800 meters if I remember my gun course correctly.
