  • Will one of these fit in a normal Ak74?

  • I'm not sure why everyone has a problem doing the BHO spring. Might be a hand dexterity thing? The way I do it is to install the trigger and slave pin with the BHO spring in place first. Then, install the BHO and hammer, using a small pick through the right-hand side of the receiver to get the BHO and hammer axis holes lined up as you insert the pin. Once both pins are installed, you can pull the BHO out a little and use an angled pick to pull the BHO spring up and on to the tang on the BHO.

  • WHERE I CAN BUY AN AK-47 FOR A GOOD PRICE??

    PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

  • WHERE I CAN BUY AN AK-47 FOR A GOOD PRICE??

  • I have a FCG purchased in a conversion parts kit from Carolina Shooters Supply, and they grind the hammer and modify everything for you at no extra charge. I purchased everything for my conversion from them and have nothing but good to say. I ordered everything last monday night, and recieved it friday.

  • where'd you get the bolt hold open from ?

  • @hammergodsix It comes on the gun already, just reinstalling it.

  • I installed mine yesterday. Talk about frustrating. I think it took just as long to put the spring back in as the whole conversion did. I'd get it 99% of the way, and the spring would pop out. I ended up bending the end of the spring so it would hook the little lip on the bolt hold open. After I did that it worked like a charm.

  • I converted a .223 a while back. I now realize that I NEVER use the BHO and my mags lock the bolt back after the last round anyways. My next conversion I'll skip this step. Thanks for the vid though. Saigas are the best!

  • Bolt Stop...

  • where could I find a list or diagram of what the BHO consists of? I'd like to put one in one of my AKs, but my Saiaga did not come with one like most of them do.

  • You can also use a dremel to make a notch in the safety lever. That takes 5 minutes (+ about 10 minutes to let the paint dry when you touch it up).

It's much easier than messing around with your hammer and wasting time with that dental floss.

  • Have you done this to your AK? You should do a video on it.

  • There are a few tutorials out there, google "dremel safety lever ak-47" and there's quite a few results with pictures.

I currently own 3 AKMs, and they all have this mod. A small notch will not affect the integrity of the safety lever. If you plan on taking your rifle to a range, it's a hell of a lot easier than using an empty shell to hold the breach open.

If you decide to sell your rifle, a safety lever is a VERY inexpensive part to replace.

  • why didnt you just use the old one? instead of grinding the new one down

  • It won't fit.

  • does this make the bolt stay open after the last round? if so can it be installed to the wasr

  • No, This bolt hold open only engages when you push on it with your finger while the bolt is back.

  • @i7q

Can't use the old one, and still be legal. It's a silly law that requires a certain number of U.S. made parts, if the weapon has too many cosmetic features...

  • u should of used clamps!!

  • thanks...certainly got me going in the right direction

  • Can i get that bolt holding kit for a Romanian WASR-10? i was thinking of cutting my safety lever for the BHO but this looks alot better, and where do i get it. THANKS

  • The BHO comes standard on Saigas. It wasn't a kit. He is simply putting the BHO back in after taking it out for the conversion. I'm not sure exactly were you could buy one for a WASR-10 but you should know it is not an automatic BHO, you actually have to push it up why pulling the bolt back.

  • does the bolt hold open after the last shot on the saiga???

  • No, not unless you get some mags that come with that feature. The BHO that comes on saigas is a manual one in which you push up on the lever and pull the bolt back until it locks open.

  • bhoooooooooooooo!!!

  • THANKS!!!! i love the saiga and am a gun nut. i was looking for instructions on how to do both conversions and found your vids. THANKS AGAIN!

  • excellent! thanks for showing that - I knew about the string trick but this shows it plainly - thanks! I've done three of these conversions so far - I think this is now the best way to an inexpensive/quality pg AK - with the kits drying up and increasing in price. Oh and I understand that you did the web site too - been sharing that on gunsnet for a long time now - you da man!

  • I was thinkin of doin the same but found a stock kit that does the same without any gunsmithing at mississippi auto arms.Might wanna check that out as well

  • Make sure it is 922r compliant. You get 3 compliance parts by doing the FCG.

  • is 922r or has it ever been enforced?

  • Nice work on your Saiga. How much to you charge to do the conversion? I just ordered a Saiga 7.62 and would like to do the conversion on it when it arrives.

  • I am not a gunsmith so I don't do them. This is the first time I did one.

  • Wow, you did great for it being your first time. Great vids, keep up the good work.

  • Thank you.
