  • For some reason i was reminded of the pokemon theme song from the title.

  • "To be the best you have to beat the best"

Wow Sanford you are the best and most powerful nerd in the world for just one glorious year.

Did girls scream for your name, and a movie made out of you?

I bet ya got those billionaire. Good going boy!

  • @daghost9

Haha so you mean Street Fighter IV. Those multitudes of noobs aside I gather that those "hyper nerds on the world level" are billionaires now? And you? Just a millionaire huh?

    Not too bad and congratulations.

  • I think you're a tool if you rubb your dick about a top player being from your area, or even on your hemisphere of the world. Being born in any part of the world is random as shit, I'm not saying you shouldnt be happy for people but god damn. Also I live in wisconsin YEAH REPRESENT SUCK MY COW DICK CHEESE MOTHER FUCKER.

  • Sanford should step up and play blazblue cs a REAL game.

street fighter is to easy imo my dhalsim is the SHIT but i dont really like street fighter its not got enough depth or variety in the fighting style of the characters.

  • CMON GUYS! its all about trying right? lol

  • lol at the last bit

    "even tekken players"

  • I believe that both Smash Melee and SFIV require a LOT of skill once you're at a professional level. Both Smash Melee (playing without items of course) and Street Fighter IV require good spacing during fights, understanding of tiers (although some may argue the existence of tiers in any game), priority of moves, mind-games, combos, chains, and, of course, technical ability. If you deny that, clearly you've never gotten good at either game.

    -JB

  • I mostly agree. Except one bit.

Everybody agrees on tiers to some level. Who would argue that dan is a better character then sagat? no competent player would.

I'd agree though that once it gets more technical there are a lot more disagreements.

For instance: The latest tier list pits ken below characters like gouken and seth m.bison

I STRONGLY disagree with that idea.

But disagreements is all it will be, At least until a change in how people make tier lists comes about.

  • Tier lists STILL are not based on hard evidence even though we have had frame data for ages. Thus tier list arguments on the finer level are inherently futile.

Once frame data for SF4 is expanded and incorporated into tier lists THEN the arguments will mean a damn.

  • @thecreepyguy I agree completely. there is to much subjectivity in these tier lists for it to be concidered valid. the vary fact that they change is evidence that there is nothing objective determining those lists.

  • Regarding Smash players getting into SFIV:

People that were into Street Fighter before Smash got right into SFIV.

It's a game that speaks so easily to gamers. It's a lot easier to pick up and play once you learn what to do.

    FADCU

The skill gap is WAY wide in Melee, so SFIV becomes an easy game to play competitively.

  • Man smash is a kid game that like 8 years old get that shit outta here man. Play a real fighting game Like SFIV lol at smash. that the one wit mario and peach in it right? lmao

  • you clearly have no clue about smash if you think an 8 year old kid could be good at it. do your research.

he is talking about melee btw. 8 year olds could play brawl ;P

  • @TheTruthAndMore1 There are people out there that feel SF4 is a kids game as well. If you are part of the fighting game community, you should never downtalk another game.

  • He's right, santhrax is truly one of the best here in NYC, his real rival is justin, but santhrax is sellin himself short

  • He's got it right. While Sf4 is a game that almost everyone can pick up- and it's fun for that. I love how large the player base is online.

MvC2 is a game that even some fighting game vets have trouble playing well. I just physically cannot perform some of the combos without developing a hand cramp.

  • haha sanford seems like he's getting a little full of himself.

  • I think after Evo 09, he's got a bit of a right to be.

  • nah, at the end of the day, we're playing a video game. If you get cocky overall because you get good at it, what does that really say. I'm not dissing the guy, i'm just saying.

  • at the end of the of the day, if you're one of the best competitors at the thing you've devoted years to becoming "good at" (no matter what it is) you do have some right to be a bit cocky. Especially if you've got the paperwork to prove it.

    but to each his own.

  • that much is true, but I just hope anyone who's cocky for whatever reason understands if people don't care for their company. That said, I am rooting for kelly. (I main cammy)

  • as am I.

    Cammy is my second.

  • @SonofGenkai18

Until people realize that what you're "good at" is beating up someone's imaginary cartoon characters with your imaginary cartoon characters and laugh at you mercilessly

  • @KingKongBunker triviality is in the eye of the beholder. In baseball, all you're doing is hitting a ball with a stick and running around the field. In chess, all you're doing is moving little pretend war figurines around a board. In poker, all you're doing is playing cards for a lot of money.

Some would argue that those disciplines are more difficult or require more brain power than "some video game" but those of us who play it seriously know how similar it is to a fast-paced chess game.

  • @KingKongBunker

Alternate: Until people realize that what you're "good at" is throwing a ball into some guy's glove.

Until people realize that what you're "good at" is tossing a ball into a hoop.

Any kind of game or sport is an arbitrary, and practically useless activity. There's really no difference between a video game like SF and something like Tennis. Except perhaps that SF is more accessible for those w/o access to courts/equipment.

  • @SonofGenkai18

Paperwork? You mean you need a clerk and secretary to tally your wins and note the minutes of your glorious Street Fighter conferences in those scrummy arcades?

Oooh so that's it. Cockiness is style, it separates from the nerds and greatness is undeniable even if stupid people don't know or get to see it.

There were many greater fights that happened in empty arcades that also went unrecorded. For the masses to even see one of them, is their privilege and their good fortune.

  • Same with football same with B ball. Same with any other sport. People need to realize and accept gaming as a sport.

  • I love gaming but B-ball takes endurance luck skill and very hard work same with football and im not saying people dont work hard at video game practice to become the best but sitting on your ass pressing buttons and shit really isnt sport like, sports is very physical activity. again sitting on your ass eating potatoe chips and shit play MVC2(broken as hell) and Sf4 really isnt sport it kind of insults Actual pro athletes that work there asses of to become great. But i no where u comin from.

  • Wrong. not all sports require endurance or are " very physical activities." not all sports-men are pro athletes. i do agree gaming is not a sport, but it is growing into a true event like sports, chess, games etc...

  • Smash Bros players don't play Street Fighter.

  • How well-founded a statement.

  • Not true. I know people who play both.

  • False

  • @thuendoftime Don't be a dumbass. Seriously.

  • I don't know too many in our community that play. I can think of maybe 2. I wasn't saying it as a bad thing. I was just stating. He says that everyone plays street fighter, but very little Smashers play SF4.

  • Melee was harder to play than street fighter for me. So stop tryna downplay Melee. Brawl maybe but melee is just as competitive as SF4

  • @africanboybkman Clearly you are not playing either at a highly competitive level. Play Alpha 3 if you think SF is easy.

  • What? I never said Street Fighter was easy. All I siad is Melee is harder to get into. And I have played in tournaments.

  • @africanboybkman sorry my mistake, I assumed too much, but I do disagree, I found melee easy to get into and get fairly good at, where to be effect in SF you have to work your ass off just to get the combos down and once you have them down, it still doesnt mean your any good at the game.

  • Np. the combos are difficult well the high level ones anyway. But melee's combos hurt and I meaan hurt. All the wavedashing combos and wave climbing. Melee gave my fingers excruciating pain. You needed really fast fingers to play with the big boys. Because most ppl considered high level and those who played in tournaments. Those techniques were almost a must. Which is why it was harder for me to get in the competitive scene in melee than in SF4

  • I've been playing both games for a while now and I have to say that SFIV is harder to get down pat because a lot of the combos are on total reaction time while some combos in Melee are based off of bad player DI. Melee is a bunch of running and mind games while SFIV is a lot of mind games, patience and reaction. I find it a lot harder to actually get good at spacing and reacting in SFIV then in Melee, because most things in melee won't trade or kill you easily like in SF.

  • same could be said for melee, especially at top level play where u have to read proper DI to even hope to get the combos u practiced

  • Melee is not an easy game to master. There are many things that pro players learn i order to become the best, like wavelanding, waedashing, edgeguarding, techs, DI, shinespiking, meteor smashes, chaingrabbing, etc.... Melee is an easy game to pick up and play just like SF4, but just like SF4 it takes hours of training, dedication, and skill to trully master to play competitevely

  • Sanford, Wigfall and Demon Hyo are my favs at Marvel..

    They are bad ass

  • i agree but soo mighty should be up there. his MSP is godlike.

  • yeah no doubt..

  • Sanford finally beat the best at the highest stage.

  • sanford speaking truth
