Bret Hart is one of the all time selfish jackasses of wrestling. I loved him for years but he thought it reasonable that Vince McMahon let him take the WWF belt to another Fed. He is the worst example of selfishness I've seen in the sport except perhaps Hulk Hogan. Look at Flair and Foley. They'd lose matches, they recognized the long view. Bret Hart was a decent wrestler but a complete jackass as a human being.
