I once played a show at the UC lounge or something in Manhattan and we got a Friday gig the place was packed, we loaded our gear through a crowd. By the second song EVERYBODY had left the lounge and was hanging out at the bar. The only people left were people who came with us. We're not even a fucking metal band either. We finished our set, after dedicating a song to them and while we were packing up they all came back so we had to unload our gear through the crowd. Fucking hipsters.

I once played a show at the UC lounge or something in Manhattan and we got a Friday gig the place was packed, we loaded our gear through a crowd. By the second song EVERYBODY had left the lounge and was hanging out at the bar. The only people left were people who came with us. We're not even a fucking metal band either. We finished our set, after dedicating a song to them and while we were packing up they all came back so we had to unload our gear through the crowd. Fucking hipsters.

Nowadays, you're a hipster if you listen to obscure music and if you follow a certain fashion. Back than, there wasn't any specific hipster culture. It simply meant cool kid. Basically, they don't see the appeal of a band based on how good it is, but on how underground it is. I don't even know how they manage to stay still when good bands are playing, but they do. it was an off-hand comment that didn't mean much really anyway, but honestly i wish more bands would confront that shit. there was a period where before all that newerest wave "dance punk" stuff came along where even the bands expected you to just stare or they'd yell at you for moving around. i saw someone get called an attention whore by some shitty post-metallic submarine sandwich prog-grind band a few years back because the guy had the audicity to enjoy their music so much as to dance.

At an informal concert people should be allowed to physically show their appreciation for the music.
