  • there all masters of their instruments. every time i hear steve howe i just wanna stop playing guitar. i've learned mood for a day but thats not even a fraction of the mans capabilities, i swear he's an alien or something

  • Still just amazing!

  • damn. masterpiece.

  • yes e uma banda de uma altura em que a musica era musica

  • Wow!

  • Musical heros of my youth!

  • Almost as good as the yessongs version (which is my favorite version btw)

Yes would still be this great if only that fucking queer douchebag Benoit David wasnt their singer and Jon Anderson had his rightful place back as Yes' lead singer.

  • tHIS IS FUCKING SICK!!!!!! THE BEST

  • Fuckin SMOKIN!!!!

  • This was the last time Jon Anderson toured with Y.E.S to present day lets hope they get together again! I have seen them many time from the 70s I can't bare the new line up...This is so good!

  • this is mind blowingly awesome!!!

  • I <3 the "Give Peace a Chance" sample!

  • Pese a los años la claridad vocal de Jon sigue intacta.

  • These guys are legends

  • i migliori in assoluto grazie

  • Saw them in concert in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1975. Great then! Amazingly wonderful still! Thanks for posting this! What vocals!

  • They are amazing, but steve howe looks like death

  • So bloody clever the way they sneak in "All we are saying...is give peace a chance!" Well, it makes as much sense now as it did then. So then people, what now? I love this tune. Beautiful harmonies, brilliant use of eccentric acoustic instruments, and such a beautiful, friendly message. Though many praise Pink Floyd and Genesis (and they are great), why try and make music depressing or morbid? Isn't there enough of that in day to day life?

  • Amazing song in the 70's and still watching it today in 2011.

  • Anderson sounds as good as ever here!

  • Fuck the billboards.

  • classic epic! im only 17 i love love old music!

  • I want that instrument.

  • Sounds different from first release or performances (33 years ago!), but equally amazing sound. Hope this will be taken into far future. Such good musicians.

  • love this song. what was that funny looking guitar on the left? is that a lute?

  • whoever wrote that Steve didn't know where to come in w the guitar solo is knackerd. he's played this song 1 billion times.

  • I know everyone else noticed this - STEVE IS SINGING IN THIS SONG!

  • I won't have THAT much enthusiasm about my comment, nor as colorful, BUT, having said that... this IS Yes! There I said it!

  • i like when jon anderson whistled at the band to start the guitar solo at 4:39 and steve howe isnt even paying attention

  • @howyoudointonight. This song starts with a voice with no musical instruments.

Singer cannot tune his voice to the correct key without having a reference. I think this song starts a little off key, and Anderson recovers.

I saw Yes twice. Once I saw Jon Anderson introduce the song with: "This is a song in the key of _______ ... "

and Steve Howe plays a stroke on his Lute to give Anderson the correct key.

then immediately, Jon starts singing without any accompaniment.

  • This mix has some things going for but, if it is ever officially released (don't think it has been) I'd hope the sound is on multitrack and they turn up Stev'es acoustic on the 1st part. - Listened to the Yessongs video version just before this and the Portuguese gtr practically rings and resonates compared to here.

  • Jon Anderson is a big gift to all of us - in a tiny package :-) What joy he has given to the world.

  • probabbly the best way to save rock and roll is get paul and ringo and geddy alex and whitequeen and squire twenty-ten for the qtu

  • It's incredible that just over 30 years later Jon Anderson can still sing this song in the original key! Fantastic!

  • ...yes!

  • Anderson, Squire, Howe, Wakeman, White have all said that this 5 is the 'special' line-up.

    They are correct.

  • Love the solos at the end!

  • Why do you gize have to be such assholes if someone likes Yes then let them, obviously their on your side because there not listening to Kid Rock.

  • Steve Howe is one of the most versatile guitarsist, no, Musicians i've ever heard. It's amazing to go and listen through out Yes's collection and hear all the different styles of music Steve is fluent in. Just everything he touches turns to gold.

  • Great song, great band, and great music! :-)

  • Aw, cut the crap: them boyz can sang!

  • I don't care what anyone says, this is EPIC!

  • PROOF! we don't get older but better! Still the guys I saw in '78.

    Thx for sharing*

  • One of the best songs. They're amazing still and Jon's vocals.

  • love this song....

  • Chess, Anyone?

  • probably the most distinctive voice of 70's rock !

  • To be honest, they don't get a lot of cheers because they need some more better if you ask me.

  • @Adamboy20 what the heck are you talking about? you must be a rap head...

  • Gods never die

  • his voice is still good for being pretty old. he must have taken great care of it throughout his career. god damn does it sound good

  • YES's performances are always perfect and are getting even better with the ages

  • Is that actually a LUTE that Steve is playing?!?!

  • @Dulce22261 I believe they call it a Portuguese Guitar

  • nice song..!

  • Vocal harmonies are incredible!!

  • yes

  • yeah!..just awesome!..the classic Yes sound...Jon's soaring angelical vocals...wonderous uplifting stuff!..fills me with happiness!

  • Such men must life for 500 years! I have seen them there; the sound was sooo good!!!

  • great anti war song

  • this song is one of the best but roundabot is a great song too

  • I completely agree!

  • Just Great....best yes song ever....

  • Fucking BRILLIANT!

  • Forget old and Wise. This one is Eternal.

  • If you ask me, long hair on Jon Anderson never really clicked with the identity the band was trying to establish. I like his look in recent years. He looks like an old wise man.

  • Saw them very recently. The new singer is extremely good, but they missed the charisma of Jon Anderson.

  • What was the influence for this song? You dont hear this sound many places.

  • What a beautiful theatre. I'd be in heaven if I was seating at one of its tables listening to YES!

  • come see them at Penn's Peak...beautiful venue....like seeing YES in a log cabin..beautiful sound...

  • Was never a huge fan, but got force-fed this by a certain person lol. Love this song. His Voice - A One-Off.

  • The best thing about this video is that they're all together. All the originals. What a great great group. I never get sick of playing there music.. Jon never lost his range....what's up with that? Great post...thank you!

  • not to be an ass, but there are only 2 original members on stage: Jon and Chris

  • Really? Sorry to be an ass but look at the fragile album. Alan white Drums Steve Howe guitar and Rick Wakeman keys ring a bell. You must be a young guy.

  • Okay, lets just settle this one now. Jon and Chris are the only original members in this video. Original lineup = Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Peter Banks, Tony Kaye, Bill Bruford. And you were a little off on the Fragile line-up: Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford. Alan White did not appear on a studio album until Tales From Topographic Oceans. But yes, most people (including myself) consider this the "Classic Lineup".

  • We're splitting hairs are we? Can we agree that what you call the classic lineup would in most of the worlds eyes be considered "the original members"? Or is there anyone out there that may have played with them in the 6th grade we could consider original? See where I'm going with this? Is this Dwight Schroot?

  • I agree that yes, the more casual fans would indeed consider this the "original lineup". I was just stating the fact that there are in fact three albums prior to this lineup forming. And I think most fans at least know of "The Yes Album".

  • I'm picking up what you're throwing down!

    AGREED!

  • @matic3060 I thought alan didn't show up till relayer, but I could be wrong.

  • @matic3060 Thank you. You are obviously the only person whos viewed this video and actually knows something about yes.

  • uh i know the band members asshole, as i said i wasn't trying to be an ass, but that went out the window when you used sarcasm. Their first album only had John Anderson and chris squire on it, the met in a bar in Soho in May 1968. The ORIGINAL lineup is Anderson, Squire, Peter Banks, Tony Kaye, and Bill Bruford. They made 2 albums with that specific lineup Yes, and Time and a Word. Then lineup changes started happening(Steve Howe on the Yes Album)

  • And by the way, I am a young guy, 15 to be exact. The funny thing about this conversation is that I helped make a class in my school completely about the music of Yes and the other biggest progressive bands in the world. We are currently the only highschool in America(as far as my teacher says) with such a class. My point here is, being young doesn't mean being musically dumb, or whatever point you were trying to get across. If you want to find out about this class, talk to starshiptrooper59

  • Again, do not underestimate the youth, as you may be shocked at our drive and our knowledge. And since you decided to be an ass to me, I will gladly point out the irony of this situation. You, I'm guessing to be about 40 or 50, thought you were getting to school some youngster on music he would never know about, but then it happened, the youngster, who is taking a class specifically about Yes, shows up with more than just knowledge of their famous albums and on. have a good one, and study up ;-)

  • Dude you don't understand. I totally agree with you. I never knew other than what I saw in this clip. You in essence edjumacated me. Climb off the horse and accept a compliment when one is given. You're lucky to have such a class. I would have loved to have had a class such as that in my sophomore year. Lighten up my friend, it makes life so much easier. PS: Thank you for enlightening me on something I never knew before.

  • One other thing. I once read that the Monkeys were a huge influence on Yes.

  • Sorry for berating you, that wasn't neccesary at all, the thing is when i feel attacked i come back full force. I must say I'm completely sorry and should have handled it with a little more maturity. And a side note, the class is my reason for getting up in the morning, it's awesome! But yea the monkeys, beatles, moody blues, the more poppy guys are what got them started.

  • No worries. You seem incredibly mature for 15 and that my friend will take you a long way in life. I use to fly off the handle the same way and never felt good of the end result. I've changed and there's a lot less misunderstanding. If I seemed cocky I'm sorry. So were cool and good for you developing such a cool course.

  • Thank you friend and thanks for the advice in life and all.

  • @PIRTEKM3 (Monkees not monkeys)

  • Grampa Jon still sings like a choir boy.

  • F' ing Yes!!!!!!

  • Questi sono i veri Yes: come back Jon!!!

  • Già....and come back Rick!!!!!

  • Well do you always keep your wickedgrin?

    ; )

  • they sound great here.

  • They also released this concert on DVD maybe a month ago. I keep wondering how much they try to make money with that tour. Its already been four DVD's of pretty much the same show. Sad, I hope the best band in the world would get their act together.

  • Can anyone confirm that this show has been officially released? If so, please let me know. I have already received warnings for the very few officially released videos that I uploaded. If this has been officially released I need to know so I can remove it. Thanks everyone.

  • Yes, Amazon have this concert to buy. But I don´t think it officual relesed buy YES. The cover seem more lik some littel company who have bought the rigth to the TV show.

  • @matic3060

Yah, this is a great clip, man!

Of course it's official ... it's YES (LOL)!

  • man ...seen these guys in cali..4 different times steve howe is still as hot now as he was then ..great video thanks takes me back to the 70s thanks matic

  • how come only some versions of the song have this intro.?

  • gotta mix it up sometimes

  • Rick Wakemen looks like a grumpy Neil young

  • Steve Howe is a goddamn genius on that guitar!

  • Don't surround yourself with yourself........such a powerful line. ;-)

  • Yeah, you have got to love a song written about the game of chess. Awesome! Move me back two squares. The goal is to capture. Use me anytime. And don't surround yourself with yourself.

  • They've still got it!

  • YES!!!

  • ha i love yes and all of their songs are awesome and they sounds great live

  • This song is in a class of it's own. It's beyond brilliant. The first time I listened to it, which was recently, I couldn't believe it. Has anyone ever had a dream that's so wonderful that when you wake up, it makes you wish more than anything that it really happened? That's the feeling this song gives me.

  • Welcome to the wonderful feeling of being a Yes fan. :) There's a magic to it that lasts a lifetime.

  • excellent, perfect

  • anderson is inmortal!!

  • i had tickets but john anderson canceled it cause of respritory shit.... :'-(
