Alamgir was born in 1954, in Bangladesh. He studied in Mirzapur Cadet College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He briefly studied in PAF Shaheen School, Dhaka, Bangladesh. At the age of around 15, he moved to Karachi in search of a future in the music industry. He had brought nothing else with him but a guitar and a passion to sing.

I am an ardent fan of Alamgir's songs. Since childhood I have found his songs appealing and inaccordance with the taste of the time. However their unique quality is that while composed in a popular style they take their inspiration from the classical mode of singing. Beautiful song, but I wish the introduction by this not so very intelligent as well as elloquent man were not there to spoil it.

yes, i am a born bengali. my childhood was in dhaka when that was still east pakistan. from my teens i was in karachi and lahore. i always feel like a pakistan, i know bengalis may not like to hear that. i love bangladesh too. one of the bangladesh news paper called me the bridge between pakistan and bangladesh ( musically ) since i sing for both the countries now.

i may have stopped coming on tv, but my pasion dont stop. i travel to perform most of my weekends in one of the cities in usa. most of them are pop. but some are ghazal concerts also. i will be performing ghazal mehefil in san jose and cleveland in the month of july.

thats right. dont think i am switching from pop to ghazal. no..no.. i am only adding this new image. pakistan still doesnt know about it. i will release my first ghazal album in 2009. by the end of 2008 i will be back on pakistan tv channels with pop songs. pray for me.

I just want to know are you alamgir. and i m sure that this new touch is addition to alamgir. My prays are with you, we love you all. belive me this practice will help you to perform pop at its better extent .. i will wait for your album. i have one suggestion, you could record some popular ghazals by pakistani singers and release it as a tribute to pakistani ghazal grus. i am sure it will rock.
