Also, assuming you live on an army base there - I know how expensive it can be. My boyfriend was on the Kaiserslautern base while I was stuying there, and I always made him use the German grocery stores when I came over to save some money. I'm sorry about the loss of your son.

Good luck! You will have great success, definitely in Germany! My sister is in Germany and has been for about a year, and she also has experienced pros and cons from being away from America...the cons, she is away from the convenience of American cuisine and has to constantly work on what she is going to "make" or eat everyday....the pros, she got tired of the bratwursts and sausages and turned vegetarian about 6 months ago and has lost 50lbs while there...

Either way, good luck in your journey and I'll be watching! ...PS: If you come back to America and you're still in the process of losing weight, take extra care of yourself (diet and exercise) here because you will be surprised how fast bad habits and even the so called "healthy foods" here in America can put more pounds onto you!! scary...

I have to say that is one of the best things I do have in my favor, the walking. We just bought a brand new car in July which is actually at my parents house as we speak. So we are only here with one vehicle. But in many ways, it gets me out of the house! I know just the hike to a castle can really get ya so I think we are going to explore more of those alone!!
