I am so pissed that Prolimatech discontinued the Mega Shadow. It looked so boss compared to the silver version. Oh well, at least you get the same amazing performance with either model :P
It's still for sale at plenty of websites. You just have to look around. Most of the major websites are sold out but the smaller more obscure sites have them. You might have to pay a few bucks more though since these sites don't have the best prices. I just bought one for 77 bucks. Works out to be just over 100 bucks after taxes and shipping.
dont talk so posh nd clear with a fake smile cos it doesnt suit you, ive done my own vids b4 and the best thing to do is act yourself cos its easier to watch and less cringefull
What the hell, why did you take the heatsink plastic film off and then place it down without reapplying the film again, you should have placed it on its side.
I just installed the back/mounting plate and it has a lot of wiggle room. The thumbscrews are snug but the entire mounting bracket slides in/out of the mounting holes.
yup. although the intel bracket is not universal with the first revision of the megahalems, the method is still similar. while amd uses the same bracket which is sold separately
This cooler is great, I get about 72deg at 100% load on my i7 920 @ 4.2ghz 1.32v I got 2 gentle typhoons @ 1850rpm doing a push/pull. Recommend it to everyone.
you just made the effectiveness of that heat sink somewhat drop, u contaminated the bottom of the heat sink when u put it down, u should only take the protective layer off when your just about to install it on the board insuring it is all 100% clean
it's not like i installed it right away. i had to use a different tim and remount it as well. of course i cleaned the base first. you worry too much mate, i know what i'm doing ;)
Have you gotten some inspiration for your review style from 3dGameMan? You are quite good, but maybe not at the level of the "professional reviewers". Still, I did enjoy the vid :)
Just as my opinion, your style of speaking doesn't fit you very well. It for some reason fits 3dGameMan perfectly, but not really others. But of course it's harder for you, as I assume that english is not your native language. But as said, that's how I feel, so don't start getting all mad for my opinion :).
thanks for the input. i really am having a hard time speaking that way, at least i find it quite embarassing and funny. i just want to be understandle as possible like him. english is my native language though. it's just with a different accent. but i'll try speaking naturally next time.
Yea, just be yourself, that usually works the best, because it comes without forcing it.
Who cares if you got an accent? As long as it's understandable, it's shouldn't bother anyone. And it could actually help you distinguish yourself from the other beginning hardware reviewers. And I mean in a good way. Keep on the good work!
yup, it's newer than the megahalems but is the when it comes to performance. the only difference is that it comes with a universal intel backplate and is colored black for the guys who want style :)
Hmm well on AMD's site it says 1.4v recommended voltage. I have my X4 955 at 1.425v cooled with the Megahalems but i probably wouldn't go higher even with an amazing cooler like the Megahalems. Maybe if i was watercooling or using Ln2 (lol) i would use 1.5v though. Whatever works best to get it stable i suppose though, i'm sure you know what you're doing.
meh, it mean upto 1.4 is the recommended voltage with the stock amd cooler. most of the phenom 2 guys overclock theirs with that voltage at that speed. water is maxed at 1.6.
sure it will eat around 1 year of it's life cycle, but it's nothing compared to the speed-up gained :D

how come u didnt spread the thermal paste?
trema12345 1 year ago
@trema12345
because that's how you're supposed to apply it. unless the instruction of your heatsink or thermal paste says so.

1.5Vcore
Isn't that getting a bit dangerous for your CPU?
Macycrystal 2 years ago 2
not for amd cpus. max recommended voltage on air is 1.55v provided with good cooling.
gerikoh 2 years ago
Hmm well on AMD's site it says 1.4v recommended voltage. I have my X4 955 at 1.425v cooled with the Megahalems but i probably wouldn't go higher even with an amazing cooler like the Megahalems. my intel is at 1.48v on water, no idea whether its safe or not for 24/7. but im still able to add comments on yt so all's well.
LizzyAston 2 years ago
You should back down... unless you have watercooled your mosfets too. Otherwise they can burn and you'll have to get a new mobo.
Try testing your CPU with Prime95 and get some temperature sensors to measure your mosfet temps.
videosurfer69 2 years ago
thanks for that, but i already know how to do it all.

Wait, so you have to remove the preexistent mount for AM2/AM3 and replace it with that one??
scottycatman 2 years ago
well the megashadow doesn't include a mount for amd systems at all. you'll have to buy a separate mount for amd.
