Yeah, that screenshot of Ravenblade was awesome...I had a few nice ones too but I lost them when I lost my old computer. Makes me a little sad every time I think about him...he was a great person and showed me how to be a good warrior. I actually show up in your pictures somewhere, I'll let you find me ;P. I've went through your video again, stopping at each picture...so many names in there that i miss...Eternalruby, Rianne, Casaba, Nusa, Urturn, Seourm, Naiki, Stonehewer, etc....too many to list them all. I recognized a name in pretty much each screenshot with people on it ;P

@cammandor He and I were just discussing our lives and EQ the other day, and Ravenblade came up. I can remember talking with him on the phone and his wife afterwards. Trice (NKA Milien) and I still play on Povar/Quellious/Rodcet Nife. Still lots of good ppl there and many from way back when, too! Good to know you're still alive and kicking! The 18th expansion launches tomorrow! Lvl cap to 95 now :)
LOL. The only way I could quit this game was to spam a hell of alot of swear words into the shout channel of Plane of Knowledge. I'm pretty sure around.... every single player there reported me instantly and I was probably being watched by GMs as I did it. On an RP server too in the old days so... yeah. Gave my Breastplate of Vindication to my girlfriend! LOL
Are there any servers with original EQ and level select and any item selection /w pre-nerf items? I want to try out this game, but I don’t want to start from scratch - I don’t have the time. I also heard the original didn’t require minimum levels for gear & weapons. Is there any free Everquest emu servers that have pre mades with the best gear ever made pre nerfed - God Gear, kerafyrm, etc whatever was the best. I want to play the game in its prime with all the best items and run around killing
Sadly nothing really comes close to being as good as your first MMO, Trust me I know been around since 96 still looking for the next UO. You know whats really missing from those days? Risk, friends, helping others and just being part of something bigger then yourself. For those of us who remember who can still here the original music and remember the first time we died. New players will never understand the games are easy with no risk, they are required to work together. There missing out..
I can still remember how excited i was for my first plane of fear and plane of hate runs, and when we did plane of air i was just in awe. skip ahead to downing the boss of plane of earth and getting server first time flags... good times....

I think I was 22 when I stopped playing, I'm 30 now, but I've always held onto memories of accomplishing things in everquest that involved a lot of time and dedication. I had to move on because to have a life I couldn't continue to sink all that time into a game, it was bitter-sweet. Everquest has some of the best storytelling of any mmo I have ever played. Nothing I have played since has stacked up in the lore department.
Ahh I rember the good old days on Fieona Vie farming fire beatles in frount of freeport. Then if it started raining every one would head to the freeport bank for a drinking party and all the beer you could drink for free because some one was allways working on there brewing skill. The good old days of ever quest where allways before shadows of lucian before any expantion.
@WanderingMania Yeah, I had a druid on Firiona Vie. Y'all were kinda weird there. Really, REEEEAAALLLYYY social! I couldn't solo a damned thing without being interrupted! But thanks for all the free stuff & teaching me languages so I could use chat. Most helpful server I ever experienced & best Baz prices, too. It took me a lot longer to level up there, like my first character before I had a bunch of plat. But it was always a nice, peaceful break from everyone getting on my nerves on my server.
@AlterDimensions Yeah that server was more like a giant family than any thing eltce. I really hate that EQ is gone now. Try going from that to socialy outcasted and becomeing sanity chalenged from the lack of any one to talk to. Main reason why i miss it so much. Also was a fun game.
man, brought back some fond memories.... played for 5 years on Tarrew Marr server, half-elf Paladin. Some great times and my clan Numinous had some of the coolest people I ever met. I quit right after we killed Rallos Zek and got our flags for Plane of Time....wish I knew where some of those people are nowadays. Used to spend literally 10 hours a day in front of the p.c. But I guess we all have to grow up some time and my responsibilities took precedence over clan raids and gear. I miss you EQ!!

This game was so hard to play because people were afraid to die and lvling took a week to gain one lvl. I remember looking up how long it took to get lvl 50 and it said average time was 4-6 months. It was worth it at the end and sad it finally got shut down. EQ was the stepping stone for future mmos.
The only thing I hated more than reading "TRAIN" on my screen was "who wants to do fear?" That zone actually got me to quit for a few months when it first came out. True the game isn't what it once was but to me it is still the best game out there. I still remember the day I was finally able to kill a dam wisp. The first of many great memories.
Its something that was great, but that is gone and never can come back. No other game made me so furious, frustrated, exhausted, crazy etc...but theres no game that I miss more. I mean to this day lines like, "can i get on the list", "TRAIN", "Anyone camping Cog?" just make me crack up when friends repeat them. No other game will be like it, because not only did I grow up, but now there are 900 MMORPGs, and they all either cater to casual gamers, or have item malls etc..
Come on folks log back in. If you didnt delete them then your beloved characters are still there waiting for you. Let them breathe the air of Norrath once again. Even if its just for a month.
I remember The Bazaar and everyone wanted SOW to run fast lol. I even bought a shirt that said Got SOW? lol I bought one for a friend also. I loved EQ and also loved EQ2 but it would be so hard to go back to EQ1 but I probably could go back to EQ2 much easyer cause the graphics are still up to par. What sucks is growing up with so much memories of a video game that when you think back to it you get depressed.

I played EQ from Phase 3 beta through about 2003. EQ is one of those games where you will always remember it fondly. I tried to go back and play it several times since then and I just can't get into it. If the EQ classic developers ever get their idea up and running I'll go back to that which will only have content up to SoV. But EQ Live is shit now.
They are bringing it back officially through the time progression server on February 15th. This means we revert back to old school EQ. Check the site for details!
ohh everquest, this was my childhood, my brother got it and i started playing it like when i was 7 and for a long timee after that, a lot of memories in that game a lot of memories
only game you will have ever played that changed your life. i know it changed mine and everyone who played it and this video captures that. and the way it changed your life was through the fact that all the friends you made you kept you didnt make a friend and stop talking to them every other mmo ive played since that is how it has been.
I have to tell you, I watched this... and I (an Everquest 2 player... who missed out on Everquest it seems) anyway... I started thinking about how EQ2... like all games, will eventually end... Like a lot of games before it. I'm now finding alternative ways to talk to my friends there... I know its end is far off... but just in case!

I have found a game that's somewhat like this. There are hordes of immature people but this game has yet to reach the "nerf'd" capacity that EQ went through: dungeons and dragons online. Also it's free and you pay for extra adventures and such.
After I made that Half Elf Paladin, I got to level 20 (which you all know took FOREVER back then) and by that time, my brother decided to not let me play his account anymore because you all know how siblings fight. I begged for weeks for my dad to pay for an account, and he eventually caved in. I created a High Elf paladin which was my main for 6 years. SO many good memories with that game. Memories that'll NEVER die. I still have the cloth map from the Kunark expansion in my room hanging up.
I remember the first time ever playing this.I was very young (5th grade I believe..I am 22 now)and my older brother bought it and brought it home to play. I used to watch him play, but he'd NEVER let me play.One Friday night he went to go hang with the guys, and I wanted to go because it'd be so cool to hang out with the older cool guys but he didn't let me, instead he let me make a character on EQ to keep me busy. @DeathsBite i remember the first time i played to i was 6 years old and my dad played it all the time one day he got 2 accounts for me and my brother and from that moment my life changed. i remember my first character... a barbarian warrior. still remember the first time i died. i was going to go fight some spiders and bears in halas and i didnt know how to swim across to the other side to go fight them so i ended up drowning several times before my dad told me how to swim. haha good times
Wow...This is like bringing a tear to my eye. I miss this game so much, and I know exactly the feeling about EQ as this guy did, I'm a 6 year veteran myself. The zones were made so perfect and hard to navigate through without getting buttraped by a mob if you werent careful, and the feeling you get from killing a boss felt so satisfactory. I love WoW, but WoWs satisfactory feeling doesn't compare to EQ's.
Probably one of the best choices you made was quitting that game. I don't know about any "experience of a lifetime;" I played for I think a year and finally sold my account. Today I don't regret it one bit.
I think what I miss most is the people. In Everquest most people were like "I know this game is tough, lets work together" and friendships were made from that. People had to depend on each other to move forward. In games like WoW where its easy to level, most people are just rude and obnoxious to each other.
Ah I wish I had the time for MMORPGs anymore. I played on Quellious from 1999 to around 2003. I was in the guild Wraith near when it originally formed. My claim to fame, first character on server to own the Orc Impaler haha. I was a wood elf ranger named Fadamor.
I think of EQ often and try to remember why I quit. I gained some lasting friendships from this game and we all try and go back to it but it isn't the same anymore. We've been spoiled by newer graphics and the ease of obtaining things the easy way from new games. EQ ment you worked hard, accomplishments were celebrated, and you felt like you were somebody. Casmik Starlyght-Terris-Thule to Morden Rasp and final resting place Povar as Vega Vespah 70 Ranger. EQ will be missed as it once was.
I know that there are the 1999 servers, but i dont think I (and most of us) will ever be able to recapture the feeling we had playing Eq back then. Kinda sad. I miss you EQ!

Awsome game for sure :) Sitting by the docks in Oasis. Standing in the tunnel buying your first bronze armor in auctions at common lands. Running into Lower Guk and actually being scared of the frogs. Getting through the hell lvls! Killing Vindicator, ssra tempel, the planes, getting epic weapon etc etc etc!

1999 Kleave Krusader the warrior from Halas, EQ was the only game that made me feel the emotions as if I was there. I can remember being afraid for my life when I was in places I shouldn't be. I wish I could go back and play EQ again for the first time my friends.

i might have to pay $15 now just to check up on my character and see how many of my friends still play. it sucks it cost money or else i would still be playing it. it also sucks they ruined it with g.o.d. with 52 man raids.
This game is the real deal. You worked your tail off for everything. Only game you played you were scared to death to die as you might not get your gear back. Wow holds your hand and gives you you everything. EQ=best game ever made period.

I was an original member of Reviviscence on Quellious server. Played from 99 til about 04. 2boxed, Shaman Iyopa, Druid Sonicboom, Mage Neurotoxin, Warrior Revenger. Started in Qeynos. Lost my first 2 toons in Blackburrow, couldnt get to corpses in those days. POP was my fav expansion. We grinded for 8 months to reach Plane of Time...now u just enter it. I was never able to acquire my 1.5/2.0 etc. My main was a Druid Halfling that I got to the 85th Season-Xegony. I played 7 or so years, took multiple breaks, was suspended/banned a few times. I have played multiple MMO's, but this game remains in my heart more so than any other game I have ever played- I do have fond memories of others, but there were qualities in this one that couldn't be found with others. Unfortunately my brain stopped producing the feel-good chemicals and I fell out.
guys check out project 1999 or eqemu its ORIGINAL EQ FREE!!! but the best part is the 600+ people on all the time kunark is dropping in october!!!! the development team is awesome it really feels like original everquest... if anyone needs help finding/installing the required software and setting up feel free to msg me!!!

Hmmm. What's really cool about this is (to me anyway) I played on Quellious for 5 years. Played a Bard (Meedang) and a monk (Sambooluong) and was in Mithril Legends as well.
@Fatkidsontheloose Yeah I tried EQ2 out for a little bit. It had nice graphics but the gameplay I felt just wasn't there and not as many people to hang out with. EQ just has the best and most mature players I think of any MMORPG
So many memories... I know so many of these places, these screens and pictures.. To so many they are simple computer generated images. However, to us that played this game for so very long, they are as real as any other memory. They mean so much more to us and bring each and everyone of us back to our own past adventures in the world of Norrath... I salute you for posting this, thank you for all the memories. My travels on Povar and Mordenrasp have long ended, but I still miss this game.

Started playing at 4 years old... My father beta tested this dream... I... Why did it have to happen? Why did the Ever Quest die? It makes me so... sad to know that my childhood dreams of playing everquest forever are all over... level 52 Enchanter...
@Serulian The game isnt dead. Its alive and well, they are still producing expansions for it. Last years expansion was called Underfoot, the new one for this year goes to beta soon. I have been away from the game for a year but am going to return soon, I have an 85 Paladin on Povar, they just combined servers again so there are still like 10 servers to choose from supporting lots of players. If your interested you can download the patcher for the game at station.com and download the patcher.
I wasted atleast 2 years as a monk on the 7th hammer server . managed to quit.....whcih was like quiting friggin herion.....then a few years later played WoW and then quit that .
There are still free classic Everquest servers out there with 500+ people playing at a time. Look into ProjectEQ on EQemu, or Shards of Dalaya if you like custom developed content. I don't play any of them anymore, but it's nice that they exist.
@scottsabear The new Sony version of Everquest sucks. Just so you're aware, Project1999 was released last year, a classic server devoted to the "Good times" of Everquest, before Sony "ruined" EQ, before any of the expansions were released, 100% free to play. Google it up =] hope to see you there, there's lots of Active players on it already, please spread the word!
I too quit everquest... it was hard for me because i met my bestfriend on there and like the song we stayed up all night just to talk to eachother and 1 day i tried WoW and i got hooked on it for abut a week and i got on for everquest i checked everday for her and i never saw my bestfriend again... i play WoW now and made some new friends but i admit i still really miss the one friend i lost from everquest...
I played barb shaman named wakonda. I remember the early levels in the guild "Angelic Few" with Nusa/Asun/Raski <----- all same person. he was great!

Are there any servers with original EQ and level select and any item selection /w pre-nerf items? I want to try out this game, but I don’t want to start from scratch - I don’t have the time. I also heard the original didn’t require minimum levels for gear & weapons. Is there any free Everquest emu servers that have pre mades with the best gear ever made pre nerfed - God Gear, kerafyrm, etc whatever was the best. I want to play the game in its prime with all the best items and run around killing

Sadly nothing really comes close to being as good as your first MMO, Trust me I know been around since 96 still looking for the next UO. You know whats really missing from those days? Risk, friends, helping others and just being part of something bigger then yourself. For those of us who remember who can still here the original music and remember the first time we died. New players will never understand the games are easy with no risk, they are required to work together. There missing out..

I think I was 22 when I stopped playing, I'm 30 now, but I've always held onto memories of accomplishing things in everquest that involved a lot of time and dedication. I had to move on because to have a life I couldn't continue to sink all that time into a game, it was bitter-sweet. Everquest has some of the best storytelling of any mmo I have ever played. Nothing I have played since has stacked up in the lore department.

Ahh I rember the good old days on Fieona Vie farming fire beatles in frount of freeport. Then if it started raining every one would head to the freeport bank for a drinking party and all the beer you could drink for free because some one was allways working on there brewing skill. @WanderingMania Yeah, I had a druid on Firiona Vie. Y'all were kinda weird there. Really, REEEEAAALLLYYY social! I couldn't solo a damned thing without being interrupted! But thanks for all the free stuff & teaching me languages so I could use chat. Most helpful server I ever experienced & best Baz prices, too. It took me a lot longer to level up there, like my first character before I had a bunch of plat. But it was always a nice, peaceful break from everyone getting on my nerves on my server.

@AlterDimensions Yeah that server was more like a giant family than any thing eltce. I really hate that EQ is gone now. Try going from that to socialy outcasted and becomeing sanity chalenged from the lack of any one to talk to. Main reason why i miss it so much. Also was a fun game.

man, brought back some fond memories.... played for 5 years on Tarrew Marr server, half-elf Paladin. Some great times and my clan Numinous had some of the coolest people I ever met. I quit right after we killed Rallos Zek and got our flags for Plane of Time....wish I knew where some of those people are nowadays. Used to spend literally 10 hours a day in front of the p.c. But I guess we all have to grow up some time and my responsibilities took precedence over clan raids and gear. I miss you EQ!!

This game was so hard to play because people were afraid to die and lvling took a week to gain one lvl. I remember looking up how long it took to get lvl 50 and it said average time was 4-6 months. It was worth it at the end and sad it finally got shut down. EQ was the stepping stone for future mmos.

The only thing I hated more than reading "TRAIN" on my screen was "who wants to do fear?" That zone actually got me to quit for a few months when it first came out. True the game isn't what it once was but to me it is still the best game out there. I still remember the day I was finally able to kill a dam wisp. The first of many great memories.

Its something that was great, but that is gone and never can come back. No other game made me so furious, frustrated, exhausted, crazy etc...but theres no game that I miss more. I mean to this day lines like, "can i get on the list", "TRAIN", "Anyone camping Cog?" just make me crack up when friends repeat them. No other game will be like it, because not only did I grow up, but now there are 900 MMORPGs, and they all either cater to casual gamers, or have item malls etc..

I remember The Bazaar and everyone wanted SOW to run fast lol. I even bought a shirt that said Got SOW? lol I bought one for a friend also. I loved EQ and also loved EQ2 but it would be so hard to go back to EQ1 but I probably could go back to EQ2 much easyer cause the graphics are still up to par. What sucks is growing up with so much memories of a video game that when you think back to it you get depressed.

I played EQ from Phase 3 beta through about 2003. EQ is one of those games where you will always remember it fondly. I tried to go back and play it several times since then and I just can't get into it. If the EQ classic developers ever get their idea up and running I'll go back to that which will only have content up to SoV. But EQ Live is shit now.

I have to tell you, I watched this... and I (an Everquest 2 player... who missed out on Everquest it seems) anyway... I started thinking about how EQ2... like all games, will eventually end... Like a lot of games before it. I'm now finding alternative ways to talk to my friends there... I know its end is far off... but just in case!

I have found a game that's somewhat like this. There are hordes of immature people but this game has yet to reach the "nerf'd" capacity that EQ went through: dungeons and dragons online. Also it's free and you pay for extra adventures and such.

After I made that Half Elf Paladin, I got to level 20 (which you all know took FOREVER back then) and by that time, my brother decided to not let me play his account anymore because you all know how siblings fight. I begged for weeks for my dad to pay for an account, and he eventually caved in. I created a High Elf paladin which was my main for 6 years. SO many good memories with that game. Memories that'll NEVER die. I still have the cloth map from the Kunark expansion in my room hanging up.

I used to watch him play, but he'd NEVER let me play.One Friday night he went to go hang with the guys, and I wanted to go because it'd be so cool to hang out with the older cool guys but he didn't let me, instead he let me make a character on EQ to keep me busy. Wow...This is like bringing a tear to my eye. I miss this game so much, and I know exactly the feeling about EQ as this guy did, I'm a 6 year veteran myself. The zones were made so perfect and hard to navigate through without getting buttraped by a mob if you werent careful, and the feeling you get from killing a boss felt so satisfactory. I love WoW, but WoWs satisfactory feeling doesn't compare to EQ's.

I think what I miss most is the people. In Everquest most people were like "I know this game is tough, lets work together" and friendships were made from that. People had to depend on each other to move forward. In games like WoW where its easy to level, most people are just rude and obnoxious to each other.

I think of EQ often and try to remember why I quit. I gained some lasting friendships from this game and we all try and go back to it but it isn't the same anymore. We've been spoiled by newer graphics and the ease of obtaining things the easy way from new games. EQ ment you worked hard, accomplishments were celebrated, and you felt like you were somebody. Casmik Starlyght-Terris-Thule to Morden Rasp and final resting place Povar as Vega Vespah 70 Ranger. EQ will be missed as it once was.

Awsome game for sure :) Sitting by the docks in Oasis. Standing in the tunnel buying your first bronze armor in auctions at common lands. Running into Lower Guk and actually being scared of the frogs. Getting through the hell lvls! Killing Vindicator, ssra tempel, the planes, getting epic weapon etc etc etc!

1999 Kleave Krusader the warrior from Halas, EQ was the only game that made me feel the emotions as if I was there. I can remember being afraid for my life when I was in places I shouldn't be. I wish I could go back and play EQ again for the first time my friends.

This game is the real deal. You worked your tail off for everything. Only game you played you were scared to death to die as you might not get your gear back. Wow holds your hand and gives you you everything. EQ=best game ever made period.

I was an original member of Reviviscence on Quellious server. Played from 99 til about 04. 2boxed, Shaman Iyopa, Druid Sonicboom, Mage Neurotoxin, Warrior Revenger. Started in Qeynos. Lost my first 2 toons in Blackburrow, couldnt get to corpses in those days. POP was my fav expansion. We grinded for 8 months to reach Plane of Time...now u just enter it. GOD was the last expansion i completed endzone.This vid sparked alot of old memories and friends i met along the way. Greetings and Salutaions:)

I was never able to acquire my 1.5/2.0 etc. My main was a Druid Halfling that I got to the 85th Season-Xegony. I played 7 or so years, took multiple breaks, was suspended/banned a few times. I have played multiple MMO's, but this game remains in my heart more so than any other game I have ever played- I do have fond memories of others, but there were qualities in this one that couldn't be found with others. Unfortunately my brain stopped producing the feel-good chemicals and I fell out.

guys check out project 1999 or eqemu its ORIGINAL EQ FREE!!! but the best part is the 600+ people on all the time kunark is dropping in october!!!! the development team is awesome it really feels like original everquest... if anyone needs help finding/installing the required software and setting up feel free to msg me!!!

Hmmm. What's really cool about this is (to me anyway) I played on Quellious for 5 years. Played a Bard (Meedang) and a monk (Sambooluong) and was in Mithril Legends as well.

@Fatkidsontheloose Yeah I tried EQ2 out for a little bit. It had nice graphics but the gameplay I felt just wasn't there and not as many people to hang out with. EQ just has the best and most mature players I think of any MMORPG

So many memories... I know so many of these places, these screens and pictures.. To so many they are simple computer generated images. However, to us that played this game for so very long, they are as real as any other memory. They mean so much more to us and bring each and everyone of us back to our own past adventures in the world of Norrath... I salute you for posting this, thank you for all the memories. My travels on Povar and Mordenrasp have long ended, but I still miss this game.

@Serulian The game isnt dead. Its alive and well, they are still producing expansions for it. Last years expansion was called Underfoot, the new one for this year goes to beta soon. I have been away from the game for a year but am going to return soon, I have an 85 Paladin on Povar, they just combined servers again so there are still like 10 servers to choose from supporting lots of players. If your interested you can download the patcher for the game at station.com and download the patcher.

I wasted atleast 2 years as a monk on the 7th hammer server . managed to quit.....whcih was like quiting friggin herion.....then a few years later played WoW and then quit that .
Now im happy with DOTA.

There are still free classic Everquest servers out there with 500+ people playing at a time. Look into ProjectEQ on EQemu, or Shards of Dalaya if you like custom developed content. I don't play any of them anymore, but it's nice that they exist.

@scottsabear The new Sony version of Everquest sucks. Just so you're aware, Project1999 was released last year, a classic server devoted to the "Good times" of Everquest, before Sony "ruined" EQ, before any of the expansions were released, 100% free to play. Google it up =] hope to see you there, there's lots of Active players on it already, please spread the word!

I too quit everquest... it was hard for me because i met my bestfriend on there and like the song we stayed up all night just to talk to eachother and 1 day i tried WoW and i got hooked on it for abut a week and i got on for everquest i checked everday for her and i never saw my bestfriend again... i play WoW now and made some new friends but i admit i still really miss the one friend i lost from everquest...
