Im not gonna bash other artists who've established themselves through this, but this is the kinda songs where you find out if a person has a great voice. I know people wont sing Rise Against on these shows, but im pretty sure he'd do incredible well in that too. Versatile voice!

@kalleskit there was only ever one World Idol, Christmas 2003. The winner (Kurt) was announced New Year's Day 2004. It included all the winners from the 1st Idol show from the only 11 countries which had participated up till 2003.

Kelly Clarkson is a better singer than him - technically, but Kurt appears to be a more likable person. Being called "The Best" depends on anyone's perspective. Kurt has the title but not everyone will agree he really is the "best" singer in the world. I do admit he has a fantastic singing voice.

He's World Idol for a reason. I tried to get him played on my local radio station, but no money-no motivation. Good singing is not what makes billboard artists alot of money, good promotion and catchy tunes. 2002 I think. He was pretty good although I was rooting for oz idol Guy Sebastian. This Norwegian guy was bloody brilliant!! Highly impressed. Certainly a surprise package.
I thought the song choice was brilliant - when you are not known you have to sing a song that people are familiar with. I didn't know him when that competition took place but I thought he was one of the best . His voice is brilliant and he totally deserved to win. Now that I have all his songs, I realise how great he is and he gets better all the time. Wish he would tour the UK. He's Norway's little gem!
Guy is great and his song was good, but it's not necessarily a good song to showcase your voice nor is it a show stopper. Kurt chose a song that did both and along with his really good voice, it won him the performance. If Guy chose a better song, his placement would've been much higher.
He is from Norway. He has given out at least 3 albums and have sang duets with willie nelson and others. He is the best!! One album is named "Push push" and another "I" and the third "Rise to the occasion".

Even though I'm American and should be supporting Kelly Clarkson all the way, I do think Kurt Nilsen owned this song and World Idol. Both he and Kelly have fabulous voices, but he objectively deserved to win.

This guy deserves a much bigger reputation and carreer than what he has got now. This kind of talent can't stay locked up in Norway like most of the talents we have. He is not the only one!

He may sing good, but if you ever have him in front of you in a line by TexMex Burger, you can get pretty pissed off. He was not very nice to the people behind the desk!

2002 I think. He was pretty good although I was rooting for oz idol Guy Sebastian. This Norwegian guy was bloody brilliant!! Highly impressed. Certainly a surprise package.

I thought the song choice was brilliant - when you are not known you have to sing a song that people are familiar with. I didn't know him when that competition took place but I thought he was one of the best . His voice is brilliant and he totally deserved to win. Now that I have all his songs, I realise how great he is and he gets better all the time. Wish he would tour the UK. He's Norway's little gem!

Guy is great and his song was good, but it's not necessarily a good song to showcase your voice nor is it a show stopper. Kurt chose a song that did both and along with his really good voice, it won him the performance. If Guy chose a better song, his placement would've been much higher.

He is from Norway. He has given out at least 3 albums and have sang duets with willie nelson and others. He is the best!! One album is named "Push push" and another "I" and the third "Rise to the occasion".

Actually has 4 solo albums and 2 live with 3 other Norwegian artists + a 5 track cd with his former band, Fenrik Lane. Solo albums, "I" (2003/4), "A Part of Me" (2004), "Push Push" (2007), "Rise to the Occasion" (2008). Hallelujah Live (2006), Hallelujah Live vol 2 (2009), FL - "Come Down Here" 2002. All albums r available in Europe from a company cdon, some available through amazon in UK/USA etc. Hope this helps, want to hear more click my nick - lots of live stuff from over the years. :)

Even though I'm American and should be supporting Kelly Clarkson all the way, I do think Kurt Nilsen owned this song and World Idol. Both he and Kelly have fabulous voices, but he objectively deserved to win.
