What I love about ayoub is that it's basically the ancient origin of what modern kids call "techno" rhythm in the dance clubs. We say "arabic ayoud" and they have no idea. But if you say out loud "NNNN tssNN tss" in a fast tempo, they instantly recognize it! They were dancing to techno in the time of the prophets! HaHa
It's good that you are helping beginners with slow ayoub, and also showing ayoub in performance. You and I know it is the same essential rhythm. However it may confuse the beginners who try to emulate. You demonstrate:
....D cD T....
but the performance is the reverse:
....T cT D....
If you had time, maybe you could re-shoot your educational part to demonstrate basic ayoub plus a couple variations, then show the same performance.
Nice job though. It's good to encourage beginners.
It's an arabic drum, most of the people think that it's turkish but it's not!! Turkish culture was hugely affected by arabic and islamic culture, such as music, food, traditions and even their language was affected by the arabic culture!!!
@ahmadarda Wow! keep cool, arabic culture recieved a lot from persian, and from cathay, former china. No shame to learn from a higher civilization, nothing is eternel, the wheel is turning...we are the same family!
that is not correct. Turkish culture is a subproduct of Arab Culture and until 1918 they used to write with Arabic letters. Thier langauge is full of Arabic and thier food, art.. et. So stop being racist. And no, you are not a damn Arab.
@Freedom544 It is a fact that turkish musicians are among the best oriental musicians, there's no racism here, they did a lot to promote the Arabic culture in Europe, anyway! I'm not turkish, I don't give a shit about musical patriotism!
@BALKISDREAMER I agree. Arab culture was the product of the Greek and Persian cultures as well as previous ones. I also agree that we most look to the future not the past. No one is pure Arab or Turk or other. We are all mixed thousands of times.
HELLO Hollywoodmusic can you help me I am trying to buy my son a Tableh or derbakkeh drum for christmas i have called a few shops and nobody has them but 1 shop said they have a darbuka drum is this the same thing or not ? would be gratefull for any info. by the way your amazing and it is because of you i am in this mess lol :) take care
i think the ciramic one is the best,,i have an aluminum one and it dosent feals right,,when i play it,,maybe its beacaus i am a biginer,,but still i tried the ciramic one and i like it more then the aluminum,,,anyways thanks
wrong palastinians say tableh in fact i cant even say that cuz in palestine alone there is like 50 accents i dont want to even go to India they have like a thousand languages
the word "tabla" was brought into India from Persians and other Middle Eastern peoples who moved down into Northern India.
Northern Indians started using the word "tabla" for their complicated, specialized hand drums while in Middle Eastern languages tabla simply refers to any generic drum.
Tabla aren't found in South India because they didn't go through so much Middle Eastern influence.
tableh is actually another word for darbuka.... in turkey they call it dümbelek or dümbek...in arabia tablah, tableh....in greece darabukah or Touberleki....but its always the same
Ha... i know you ... im watching your movie "Drum Lesson - Uncle Mafufos Basic Rhythms (PARECIO DARBUKA)- (mpegVHSrip)" Good :)

@BALKISDREAMER Yes, Turkey has good musicians like Persian and the Arab World but as I said before: they are a sub-culture from the Arabian Culture.
Freedom544 1 year ago
@Freedom544 Of course! But we are all sub culture of some former civilization, even Arabian, but let's look forward in the future, for our children.

tabla, derbekkeh and dumbek are all the same thing in different languages. I suggest you purchase the typical aluminum one with the synthetic head.
