I saw Al Pacino one night in person recently. He gives me understanding of what it is like to play all his roles in his movies. He is a solid guy and the greatest actor in my opinion. Scarface was a fun movie. Maybe even a modern classic. As far as an individual performance it was not one his best. Not to sound pretentious and lame but if we're talking about acting and it's nuances and subtleties, Tony Montana was a bit over the top. Almost operatic -Pacino's even said this- in it's broadness.The movie is hailed by the hip hop community because of his fast rise to the top and penchant for wanton violence(FUN!FUN!) But as far as movies go it's just a guilty pleasure.

The movie itself is good. I personally like it -don't love it- I think the movie on its own should be ranked higher than the performance.( my list was of performances)I'm cuban, I've never met a cuban that behaved the way Tony Montana did. I understand its place in today's culture. That's the reason it's even on my list. But it's definitely a fun movie with an interesting soundtrack and memorable moments.

@tryandlisten dustin hoffman and de niro xP it worked well in "wake the dog" ^^. i have to admit that i laughed a lot in the fockers I II and III. just the fakt of having "jimmy" alias "Ace" aka neil mccauley" in such a low level comedy made me laugh. so i didn´t laugh at him i laughed about the situation. aproaching this movie with this point of view helped me to get the joke. and every de niro smile and frown made the movie worth watching again =)
