@USAsoldier1955 I agree with you 100% on this story being fictional. but the first (real) flag of the USA was the francis hopkinson. this flag showed up just after 1776. the first flag of america (not the USA) was the Grand Union. Dont get me wrong . I love the Grand Union flag. I have one and fly it on the 4th along with my old glory. as it should be. its part of our history.

1.) Approved as the American Flag of the Continental Navy & Army in Committee of the Second Continental Congress, November 1, 1775.
2.) Hoisted on the Continental Navy Battleship Alfred by Lt. John Paul Jones, December 3, 1775.
3.) Hoisted by Gen. George Washington at his Cambridge, MA, Army HQ, January 1, 1775.
4.) Hoisted as the FIRST US FLAG at Carpenter's (Independence) Hall, July 4, 1776.
5.) Never Rescinded By Act Of Congress.
