  • I love this man!! His vocal range is incredible, his guitar skills are underrated and his music is spot on!!!!! WTF happened? That stupid video was bad but damn this man is incredible....

  • I might be an old timer[65] but I still love true rock Give me Billy Squire Stevie Nicks , jynard skynard ,Credience Clearwater Revival Bob Seager Elton John ABBA Beatles anytime Much better than rap

  • truely an UNDERATED musician...this guy FUCKING ROCKED...i saw him 3xs back in the 80s....and he was TERRIFIC each time....puts alot of acts today too shame!!!!

  • Billy bigtime underrated guitarist.

  • I,go with Billy antime in the dark.....

  • Billy is a double threat guy. Strong guitar player along with being an excellent songwriter. "you'd trade it all to avoid an un-pleasant scene". great stuff! Vocals may be his achilles heal but he sounds best through head-phones. But you know what...it's his sh it so he can sing it anyway he wants to. Rock on Billy!

  • @mamamametalshop I think he's got one of the coolest, distinctive voices in rock.

  • good old mtv before mtv sucked

  • Considering he's been a pro since c.1968.. I would hardly say he owes his success to Led Zeppelin's (1980) demise. That the public latched onto him then is a more proper attitude.

  • billy squier puts on a great show ...i saw him back in the day ...the guy can rock..

  • This reminds me of the good old days of M/TV when they actually played videos around the clock!!!!..

  • This man puts on one hell of a concert...saw him 5 times back in the day and he kicked ass!!

  • that rhymn tone is killing.

  • Best Billy Squire tune in my opinion, killer tune. Still holds up great today.

  • @bassmanjoe

One of his best up there with Lonely is the Night and The Stroke.

  • @broskiskunk Alot cooler than Rock Me Tonite...lol

  • What is the "singular side"?

  • man this CD and the cars cd ,a good doobie ,lets take a long drive ,seems like i remember having auto reverse on my cassette player ! dam ,i,m just saying....

  • DAMN, does this song groove..

  • the only good god damn thing to come out of the '80's was SRV

  • @fusillijerrywho101 apparently u never gre up in the late 70's and 80's cause the crap from mid 90's till now is GARBAGE !!!

  • God I miss the 80s.

  • I think of this song whenever there is a blackout. Tonight there are millions in the New York area without electricity for the second straight night. Public Service Electric & Gas sucks shit.

  • Just had a nor'easter come thru here. I'm in the dark.

  • Was the keyboard player in A FLOCK Of SEAGULLS also?

  • anyone in their mid 20s and younger, this is the real stuff from the 80s. great rockin tune. better than the crap played today.

  • @nissansentraglx dude i so agree with you i was born in 92 and this music it takes real talent not like the bullshit they call music now a days i tell myself that every day

  • @DandRrecords thank God for youtube huh? lol! i am from the mtv generation, an 86 grad, so i was in jr high when mtv was starting in 80-81. the 80s had the best groups and movies. a lot of good stuff from the 70s also.

  • Billy Squier is one of the biggest unsung musical geniuses of all time. He would have been far more popular if he hadn't became popular right after the tragic downfall of Led Zeppelin and right during the start of that 80's crap....

  • @Revolver271 I was a huge Billy Squier fan. Unfortunately the Rock Me Tonite video ruined his career.

  • @Revolver271 agreed awesome song writer and damm good guitarist real pure rock sound i keep seeing all these comparisons too zeppelin maybe thats why i always liked his music so much

  • Back in the day when white boys played good ol'

white boy rock'n'roll.....not this hip-hop/rap junk!!

  • I always like his drummer.. anyone know his name?

  • sounds like robert plant

  • Grat song for sure..

  • Men, I still in the dark since 1981, how can I see the light people

  • Love this song...

  • This is some bad azz rock-n-roll!!! Love it

  • 17 ppl had .the stroke. .in the dark. .all night long.

  • Such a memorable song from the 80's!!

  • In The Dark

  • man he is so underated...he has always fuckin rocked.....

  • the greatest time in music what a fun time

  • Billy was rockin the radio at the same time The Go-Go's were. I totally Loved The 80's!!!! Smorgasborg of Great Music!

Plus the best era to be in your 20's- The Cars Rock Too!

  • I remember this video from the primitive days of MTV - remember, "I want my MTV??" We high school grads from the 1980s looked at the world as a wonderful place to go out into and have fun, party and do everything that we could - a brief summer window of time just after high school and just before responsibility!! :)

  • its like Led Zep and The Cars had a baby

  • @dabu73 YOU ROCK! (and The Cars Rock too!)

  • Great time in rock history.

  • Not only is Billy hot he plays a great guitar. I love this song. :)

  • So many great memories. Certain songs allow me to continue my life despite all the turmoil surrounding me. These songs keep me going on...

  • I HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF THINGS THAT WE HAVE DONE IN THE DARK....OMG.....

  • Nothing Like Squier Man. I wish these freaking bands today made music like this.

  • I've been searching for years for this song. I used to hear it on Rock stations all the time and never knew who played this song until now. I originally thought it could be from some Hard rock band from the late 70's or early 80's, but it's by a solo artist now from what I can see.

  • I hate to be dense but what do these lyrics mean?

  • HORRIBLE Audio.

  • When Led Zeppelin disbanded after John Bonham died I believe Billy picked up the baton and ran with it!

  • @Johnnyrod19666 that he did ,

  • BANGIN' SMOKIN' OH YEAH

  • This guy freakin rocks, it's to bad the Rock me Tonight video ruind his career due to peoples closed minded views.

  • @MrCleaniam understood...but that video was pretty gay....

  • Sounds alot like Zeppelin!

  • First act, first concert! Right up front, never will forget it~ ! Oh, yeah, and he was great in concert!

  • Sound and video is less than stellar, but I'm not complaining.

  • I worship this man

  • Seems like yesterday

  • Now listen people this is what music is suppose to be...Listen..Love It...Learn It....

  • Awesome stuff.... they don't make good music like they used to in the 70's. Nothing beats this great talent that these artists had. This is all coming from a 27 year old here!!!!! I appreciate classic rock to the fullest.

  • I still admire Billy Squier. One really bad video isn't going to take away from a body of classic rock. He's cool by me. All the haters couldn't do 1/16 of what this guy could do-- play, sing and write good songs. He's living well off of his royalties so the jokes on them.

  • I didn't know Billie Jean King was in BS's band

  • @jkwebbify f'in funny

  • hes had lots of good tunes takes me back to a teen

  • This song rocks!! You 17 that don't like it are all pussies.

  • DON'T SAY NO was the best led zeppelin album since LED ZEPPELIN IV. ohh and me/friends got to seS the SF Warfield first-ever Squier headlining gig (on a day off from the Queen tour) that year ,and this live band (with Kenny Aaronson on bass) was A M A Z I N G, one of the best live hard rock sets i've ever seen in a 2,000 seater. kenny aaronson alone (dust, rick derringer band, and future hired hand for everyone from sammy hagar to bob dylan) was 500+ stars but Squier = GREAT rhythm guitarist

  • @mikeinoakland: I, too, saw that show at the Warfield with Whitford-St. Holmes. I wasn't much of a rocker then. It was my first real "rock" concert. I think I chose well. "Don't Say No" is an all-time favorite '80s record. Had to drive a couple hours but it was well worth it.

  • I love Billy Squier tunes!!!! Anyone that doesn't is a dork!

  • 17 people are like cockroaches and ran when the lights were turned on.

  • BEST Billy Squier song EVER. Holds a place of honor on my iPod.

  • Billy Squier came along in the early 80's at a time when Rock was transitioning between "New Wave" "Pop" "Metal" and "Hair Bands" (ultimately giving way to the "Hair Band Era"). A turbulent time for artist definition.

    Rich Excellente

  • Billy was so badass in this vid he only played the lead parts and kept his hands on his hips and sang!!!! New meaning to Billy Badass. Great song!!!

  • Wow, I havent heard this in ages! and man does it hold up!

  • I seen Billy in concert in Birmingham years ago, good show Billy

  • @xXDeeJayDee2014Xx Agreed! The music was Great! and always a nice variety! Concerts kicked ass too!

  • This is a fucking great song!! I mean stellar !!

  • AWESOME:)

  • LOVE Billy!!!!

  • GUITAR ARE TO FREAKIN COOL!

  • What a song, wow, just wow.

  • 16 People are going to die in the dark.

  • its a great rock song! Its just a song....Thank you great footage.Billy Squire was one of the better entertainers of early 80z.Peace~

  • The lights should be on..

  • I prefer the lights on... :-)

  • One of my absolute favorite artists from the 80's! ~You have to wonder- If he hadn't gotten screwed on his "Rock Me Tonite" video, what other huge hits would he have been inspired to write.

Just one of the best! Can't find music like this anymore.........

  • @SgtGang31 TOTALLY DIG THAT VIDEO@SONG ! COOL EVERYONE DANCE IN THIER ROOM!

  • His best song by far.

  • I just learned to play this on my guitar! Great song!!

  • You cant get rid of this Fkn video. Its a scam.Dont play it even once its sticks in your videos and you cant get rid off it.Thanks asshole!

  • Fucking awsome!

  • I have my mom to thank for getting me into Billy Squier music. Sooo appreciative!!!

  • This man was once at the top of his musical game. So glad I grew up in a time where I got to enjoy his music.

  • I'm in the dark an proud of it Billy rocks \m/

  • Amazing tune! I think Billy is probably one of my favorite artists. His words, his sound...just amazing.

They don't make 'em like this anymore...

  • Billy Squier Rocks!!!

  • 15 people should be flogged about the head and neck with a broken bottle....Squier rocks

  • A perfect blend of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Great stuff!

  • @Lespaulhootz Robert Plant and Jimmy Page??? I don't hear any relation, actually Billy is a far better singer than Plant in my opinion.

  • LoL

  • Classic.

  • doesnt he look like jimmy page?

  • @JamesC67 No not really

  • I brought this into my pole dancing class. We always bring in music. My instructor was just like, "what a hot song."

  • I make some of my best moves "In The Dark" and 14 people have no clue what to do in the dark

  • I make some of my best moves "In The Dark"

  • 14 people are in the dark

  • @CoDJarhead 16 people have turned out the lights!

  • @CoDJarhead

    lmao

  • omg tisfs

  • Wow. This is great. I forgot how awesome he was. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • When I was younger I used to think he was singing CAN-A-DA instead of In the Dark.

  • @robbchr haha that is hilarious...because i did too. i thought i was the only one

  • When I was younger I used to think he was singing CAN-A-DA instead of In the Dark.

  • I can rock this on my roland ax-synth XD. BILLY IS AWESOME! Git yer ass to st louis sometime, homie!!

  • Reminds me of my cousin Ernie. Billy Squire really rocked! But one day I saw him open for Def Leppard down in Irvine just after the US Festival and Diamond Dave (David Lee Roth) shows up in a pink face and a near empty bottle of JD. They pranced around like a couple of loonies. Squires subsequent videos showed his change and Van Halen gave Dave the boot...

  • It's a tragedy that some of the best rock songs in history are cursed as having either an awesome intro but pathetic body, or a horrible intro but awesome body.

  • Don't say no is a BRILLIANT album that plays like a greatest hits album.

  • Billy...every day and twice on sunday...

  • cant get enough of this song. just keep listening to it over and over

  • That's got to be a 59' les Paul! Can you say holy grail?

  • I miss MTV actually having music videos...back then the M stood for Music, not Moronic...and I miss these kinds of music videos...I used to watch MTV when I was babysitting after the kids went to bed. :)

  • @stygia2002 you got that right seems like now mtv stands for morons total vermin

  • This song makes me think of the Winchester brothers on "Supernatural".

  • He adjusts his hair more times than he plays the guitar!

  • Checkin' this out after about a dozen drinks. Been in bands all my life, mostly my own original band, but played this for a few shows with a cover band...had the vocal mic cord feeding into effects for this song...stomp on the box at JUST THE RIGHT MOMENTS during this song. People would just freak out. It's a great song...although I would alter the "pinch yourself " lyrics cuz I thought that was a little stupid.

  • it's true this was music not like todays rock

  • @tazzi6890 Todays rock....what rock?

  • @tazzi6890 you know, I think it's actually very close to a lot of the music today. Carolina Liars, Kings of Leon.... anyone, anyone...

  • This song has an entirely different meaning for me today than it did back in the day. Iguess I'm just starting to really listening to the lyrics better.

  • @TheEMotionPictures me too. cheers.

  • Billy Squire has such a killer voice!

  • Comment removed

  • man, it's amazing what people can do with their voices, it's too bad that they use so many special effects an lip sink instead of use what they have

  • is it just me, or did people actually sing back in the eighties?

  • @MSShellenberger yes and the 60s and 70s too

  • Beers, marlboros and classic rock baby . . .CLASSIC ROCK 70s 80s

  • Genius. I have never gotten tired of this song.

  • graham parsons really influenced 70's-early 80's rock music.

  • Love his stuff, could care less about his love life. A real fun guy.

  • @SundayDaytripper

    A real fungi.

  • Billy Squier is so cool.

  • gay? ROTFLMAO...have you ever seen Robert Plant on stage during the 70s? he flamed more than Billy...Billy just couldn't dance. but, man, could he rock.

  • He's singing into a SM57??

  • don't get me wrong. I love Billy... but looking back, how did we NOT know he was so gay? i was so innocent/clueless.. lol

  • @herazod He's not gay, that's an urban legend. He's married to a female soccer player from Germany.

  • @kenjutsu34 ok... my bad.. but damn he doesn't help that legend, does he?

  • @kenjutsu34 one could argue that as a most curious choice of a cover up. you know, soccer players aren't very feminine

just saying...i happen to not know or care if he, or any other entertainer/athlete in the world is gay or not

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 *clapping

  • Comment removed

  • @lawyernurse08 Ok, I don't really know who we're talking about. It took me 14 pages to find my last comment, and i flipped through another 10 or so to try to find who we're talking about, I can't.

So, whoever you may or may not know, congratulations for her femininity

  • Replied to the wrong post. Sorry. But your response gave me a good laugh!

  • @lawyernurse08 can you please tell me who we're talking about?, this is bugging me

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 I was referring to Billy's wife. You had commented that soccer players are not very feminine.

  • @lawyernurse08 oh, lol. Now the comment that I found that I made makes sense to me.

I personally find athletic women sexy. But then again, I find lots of different women with lots of different styles sexy...

    Thank you boss

  • @herazod Gay or not, no offense he doesn't come off that way to me.

  • Billy ROCKS. <3

  • if i mute this video he riminds me of jimmy page, if i just listen he reminds me a little of robert plant. irony?

  • 14 people have no taste. :P

    Billy Squier is awesome!

  • Awesome Rock Classic!! : )

  • At 2:47 - on the mp3 I listen to - the sound in this break is really cool. Is that guitar harmonics turned way up?

  • I think the drummer's name was/is Bobby Choinard.

  • @timistheword thanks was looking to see if he did any work for other bands

  • @timistheword yea you was right did not know he died in 1997 heartattack age 43

  • I wore this album out-in fact, it's still one of my favorites. I saw him in 2001 in Reno and he was seriously tore back. I hadn't seen the "Rock Me Tonight" video, but he sure acted gay on stage and it was rather disturbing. I don't care what his sexuality is, I just didn't need to see him dry-humping the bassist or singing "The Stroke" like he was in a Broadway musical.

  • What happened to this dude? Had some crankin' tunes then gone. Thought he was a good songwriter / arranger. Sad.

  • This man is a musical genius. Listen to his sound, and you hear many groups over the last 30 years. He may have been a one hit wonder as a performer. But all his music is awesome and he's influenced many!

  • does any one know the drumers name ? he is great i play the drums
