I love this man!! His vocal range is incredible, his guitar skills are underrated and his music is spot on!!!!! WTF happened? That stupid video was bad but damn this man is incredible....
I might be an old timer[65] but I still love true rock Give me Billy Squire Stevie Nicks , jynard skynard ,Credience Clearwater Revival Bob Seager Elton John ABBA Beatles anytime Much better than rap
truely an UNDERATED musician...this guy FUCKING ROCKED...i saw him 3xs back in the 80s....and he was TERRIFIC each time....puts alot of acts today too shame!!!!
Billy is a double threat guy. Strong guitar player along with being an excellent songwriter. "you'd trade it all to avoid an un-pleasant scene". great stuff! Vocals may be his achilles heal but he sounds best through head-phones. But you know what...it's his sh it so he can sing it anyway he wants to. Rock on Billy!
Considering he's been a pro since c.1968.. I would hardly say he owes his success to Led Zeppelin's (1980) demise. That the public latched onto him then is a more proper attitude.
man this CD and the cars cd ,a good doobie ,lets take a long drive ,seems like i remember having auto reverse on my cassette player ! dam ,i,m just saying....
I think of this song whenever there is a blackout. Tonight there are millions in the New York area without electricity for the second straight night. Public Service Electric & Gas sucks shit.
@nissansentraglx dude i so agree with you i was born in 92 and this music it takes real talent not like the bullshit they call music now a days i tell myself that every day
@DandRrecords thank God for youtube huh? lol! i am from the mtv generation, an 86 grad, so i was in jr high when mtv was starting in 80-81. the 80s had the best groups and movies. a lot of good stuff from the 70s also.
Billy Squier is one of the biggest unsung musical geniuses of all time. He would have been far more popular if he hadn't became popular right after the tragic downfall of Led Zeppelin and right during the start of that 80's crap....
@Revolver271 agreed awesome song writer and damm good guitarist real pure rock sound i keep seeing all these comparisons too zeppelin maybe thats why i always liked his music so much
I remember this video from the primitive days of MTV - remember, "I want my MTV??" We high school grads from the 1980s looked at the world as a wonderful place to go out into and have fun, party and do everything that we could - a brief summer window of time just after high school and just before responsibility!! :)
I've been searching for years for this song. I used to hear it on Rock stations all the time and never knew who played this song until now. I originally thought it could be from some Hard rock band from the late 70's or early 80's, but it's by a solo artist now from what I can see.
Awesome stuff.... they don't make good music like they used to in the 70's. Nothing beats this great talent that these artists had. This is all coming from a 27 year old here!!!!! I appreciate classic rock to the fullest.
I still admire Billy Squier. One really bad video isn't going to take away from a body of classic rock. He's cool by me. All the haters couldn't do 1/16 of what this guy could do-- play, sing and write good songs. He's living well off of his royalties so the jokes on them.
DON'T SAY NO was the best led zeppelin album since LED ZEPPELIN IV. ohh and me/friends got to seS the SF Warfield first-ever Squier headlining gig (on a day off from the Queen tour) that year ,and this live band (with Kenny Aaronson on bass) was A M A Z I N G, one of the best live hard rock sets i've ever seen in a 2,000 seater. kenny aaronson alone (dust, rick derringer band, and future hired hand for everyone from sammy hagar to bob dylan) was 500+ stars but Squier = GREAT rhythm guitarist
@mikeinoakland: I, too, saw that show at the Warfield with Whitford-St. Holmes. I wasn't much of a rocker then. It was my first real "rock" concert. I think I chose well. "Don't Say No" is an all-time favorite '80s record. Had to drive a couple hours but it was well worth it.
Billy Squier came along in the early 80's at a time when Rock was transitioning between "New Wave" "Pop" "Metal" and "Hair Bands" (ultimately giving way to the "Hair Band Era"). A turbulent time for artist definition.
One of my absolute favorite artists from the 80's! ~You have to wonder- If he hadn't gotten screwed on his "Rock Me Tonite" video, what other huge hits would he have been inspired to write.
Just one of the best! Can't find music like this anymore.........
Reminds me of my cousin Ernie. Billy Squire really rocked! But one day I saw him open for Def Leppard down in Irvine just after the US Festival and Diamond Dave (David Lee Roth) shows up in a pink face and a near empty bottle of JD. They pranced around like a couple of loonies. Squires subsequent videos showed his change and Van Halen gave Dave the boot...
It's a tragedy that some of the best rock songs in history are cursed as having either an awesome intro but pathetic body, or a horrible intro but awesome body.
I miss MTV actually having music videos...back then the M stood for Music, not Moronic...and I miss these kinds of music videos...I used to watch MTV when I was babysitting after the kids went to bed. :)
Checkin' this out after about a dozen drinks. Been in bands all my life, mostly my own original band, but played this for a few shows with a cover band...had the vocal mic cord feeding into effects for this song...stomp on the box at JUST THE RIGHT MOMENTS during this song. People would just freak out. It's a great song...although I would alter the "pinch yourself " lyrics cuz I thought that was a little stupid.
This song has an entirely different meaning for me today than it did back in the day. Iguess I'm just starting to really listening to the lyrics better.

So, whoever you may or may not know, congratulations for her femininity
I wore this album out-in fact, it's still one of my favorites. I saw him in 2001 in Reno and he was seriously tore back. I hadn't seen the "Rock Me Tonight" video, but he sure acted gay on stage and it was rather disturbing. I don't care what his sexuality is, I just didn't need to see him dry-humping the bassist or singing "The Stroke" like he was in a Broadway musical.
This man is a musical genius. Listen to his sound, and you hear many groups over the last 30 years. He may have been a one hit wonder as a performer. But all his music is awesome and he's influenced many!
I love this man!! His vocal range is incredible, his guitar skills are underrated and his music is spot on!!!!! WTF happened? That stupid video was bad but damn this man is incredible....

What happened to this dude? Had some crankin' tunes then gone. Thought he was a good songwriter / arranger. Sad.

This man is a musical genius. Listen to his sound, and you hear many groups over the last 30 years. He may have been a one hit wonder as a performer. But all his music is awesome and he's influenced many!
