  • Light pollution ruins images. I took a picture of Stephan's Quintet a couple nights ago and I just can't get rid of the light pollution effects while keeping the galaxies.

  • Seeing Stephen's Quintet in a 24-30" visually, and from a dark location is an unbelievable site! I have been able to see it in my 8" from Great Basin National Park, as well. It is nothing to write home about, but it is detectable. In a 12" it really comes to life from Great Basin; but, with it's 7.5 magnitude skies, Great Basin National Park offers some rare opportunities to the amateur astronomy with an 8-16" scope. Some people come there with big Dobs. Now, I have drool running down my chin!
