I have ASRock M3A790GXH/128M and AMD PhenomII x4 2.6Ghz 810 CPU, i am also using 1.90 Bios from Asrock and i dont see the option in the Chipset Settings, i see the ACC in CPU options, but when i enable the ACC and reboot, my system crashes... any help?

I'm just wondering how stable a Phenom II processor is once unlocked?

Some people are saying that the cores are disabled because they are defective and will cause instability. Is that true? I wonder if it would be better to spend more on an X4 processor or try my luck with an X3 or even X2.

Unadviseable to unlock cores in a CPU. The locked core(s) were locked because they couldn't handle full CPU frequency. If you unlock the core(s) it could result in crashes and such.

they are other reasons but this is what I remember.

It's nice, but one of the cores is disabled because it failed in the factory testing, sometimes it may be 4 core die on 2 core CPU ( 2 cores faulted ) It's cheaper to produce both 2 and 4 cores by same tech. and disable some cores to get low-priced models then have different technology process for both. Still you can get lucky and get a CPU that has all cores working, just the market have higher demand for X2 at that time ;)

My motherboard can only support 95W processors, will it fail because once the core has been unlocked my processor will be closer to a 100W-125W processor?

Yea, I have the Phenom II X4 810 CPU and a Gigabyte Board with ACC function. I activated the full 6MB L3 Cache and it's working prime stable!! LOVE AMD!

What he didn't explain is the ID models that are able to do this and that aren't able to do this. Not all Phenom II's can do this even with the ACC feature and the right BIOS. Newer Phenom II's aren't able to do this. So you have to look up the model ID's closely

in fact every triple core are made from a quad core with 1 core disabled. There is reasons why it has been disabled. Endabled it might end up with an unstable computer. I really recommand to increase the FSB or CPU ratio, endabling a disabled core is not a good idea.

Even tho, you can test it and if it work fine, you a lucky then !!

No, all of them are Quad Cores. AMD makes no dual or triple core Phenoms, and they've already said this publicly. All Phenom X3s are Quad Cores with one disabled core, and all Phenom X2s are Quad Cores with two disabled cores.

You need the BETA BIOS most likely. The download link is on an ALL GERMAN MSI forum. I forgot the link, but try googling 790FX GD70 BETA BIOS 1.4B2. I tried to unlock cores and it was unsucsessful, but that was due to the processor since I have 1.4B2 and it supports unlocking cores.

The X3 CPUs are all quad cores with the 4th core disabled for stability reasons. That is, the 4th core might be defective or not run at stock clocks at the target voltage, so AMD disables that core in order to sell triple-core CPUs rather than having to junk the entire CPU.

Very nice. I always new the Phenom X3 had 4 cores but one was disabled. I wondered when someone would do this and be able to enable the last core. Great work.

As for the Phenom II, I have the 940 and it already has the 6mb L3 cache. Great work though!
