I certainly remember how Rod Roddy went on a weight loss program where he was overweight much of his adult life, and when he lost weight, during a banter between him and Bob, he would tell how much weight he lost.
And of course, we can't forget the shiny jackets he wore. They became his trademark!
Speaking of this video, I just noticed that this crowd was on their feet earlier than any other crowd I've seen on any episode of TPIR. Can this crowd be considered the most energetic crowd of all time?
Who knows, maybe he will or they will find an actual "game show" host for the show...not a stand-up comedian. Drew still does an okay job, but they could have gotten Chuck Woolery or Bob Eubanks to do it.
They aren't gonna cancel this show. Why do you think they replaced Guiding Light with "Let's Make a Deal?" Gameshows are cheaper to produce than daytime dramas so unless they do away with daytime altogether I'd be surprised if TPIR were cancelled anytime soon.
The set remained the same didn't it for all of Bob? The Price is Right signs at the back walls of the audience changed but the set just changed colors, right?
Yes but the doors themselves were the same except for the black border on the bottom that was a support for the door frames. The doors themselves got painted many times. The first real major change was the addition of the 25th anniversary banner.
I wish they had kept the set like it was when Bob Barker hosted the show, I don't think Drew would have minded seeing the set the way it was when Bob was the host of The Price is Right, also, they should have retained the ORIGINAL theme music for the show as well
I completely agree. I would be so happy if they went back to the original theme song for season 37 - that and to get rid of that ugly purple background on the turntable.
@Kjr0se Most of those set changes had as much to do with the switch to HD as they did with making it "new for Drew." The old set was just plain old and rundown. (Watch Push Over for a great example: The cubes are obviously ratty pieces of painted sytrofoam.) They also had to deal with the fact that with the wider HD picture, viewerscould now see production staffers standing off to the side a lot of the time; that's why that new purple-squared wall is there and a few other things have been moved.
No, Im pretty sure you can be any age to get into the studio because like they say its a family show lol..but yes to be an acutal contestent on the show you must be at least 18 years of age to get called to come on down!!!:P
I remember reading that Rod Roddy had cancer surgery on Sept. 11 that year. They went through with it despite the attacks, too bad they didn't get to it fast enough, but maybe it did give him another 2 years...
@jsf01974 Yeah. They canceled every surgery in the hospital that day, except for Rod's. The doctors were afraid to wait even 24 extra hours in his case.
I'm sure "The Price is Right" is going to continue for a very long time...the next time it celebrates its 40th year on CBS isn't until 2012...hey, that time, I'll be 22...lol

The doors seen here were used from 1875-2002. The original doors used from 1972-1975 were orange, yellow, and brown.

You have to be 18 years old to be able to come into the studio because the insurance policy TPIR has forbids minors to be inside.

That purple background is gone..the turntable and big doors are all based off the MDS look from last season.
