this is silly....for every Divine Liturgy in an Orthodox Christian church, the wine and bread turns into the Holy Flesh and Blood of Jesus Christ! This is not special....this happens every Sunday!!

But the miracles I see comming from this, compared to the so called cursed protestant church are night and day. How about a missionary I know, who went to an African village and put his hands on a blind man with other missionaries and prayed for healing. Jesus healed the man. he could see for the first time in his life, and his village came to christ. (the whole village) THAT is a miracle. Praise God

I disagree with your disagrement. The strictly Ephesians (Egyptian, Syriacs etc) were mutually excommunicated by the post Ephesian chalcedonians (greeks, latins etc..) as heretics. There has not mutual communion starting the fifth century to this day. Now the chalcedonians split (I think in 1054) over the procession of the Holy Spirit, papacy etc. Greeks might consider it schism, while Slavs (russian, serbian etc) do consider Roman Catholics are heretics that will go to hell.

It's the western belief that that which is western is superior.

Rome, on the other hand, allows members of the Polish National Catholic Church, who permit contraception and divorce, don't have manditory confession for those over 18, have married clergy, allow the Parishoners to own church property, to communion with them. HELLO! They are obviously not Catholics, so Rome is actually desecrating their Eucharist by allowing people who don't practice Catholicism to receive their sacraments. Sharing one Eucharist requires sharing the exact same faith.
How can Rome bar Roman Catholics outside the Catholic state of grace from receiving the Eucharist, yet it permits members of Churches that do not accept and openly reject many of Rome's moral teachings to receive its Eucharist. These people aren't in the Roman state of grace either. Just thought I'd bring that up.
People who are not in Communion with you are Heretics to you. There is no such thing are partial communion. It is cut and dry, Orthodox/Heterodox, there is NO GREY AREA. Catholics are Heterodox to Orthodox and treated that way, just as Protestants are Heterodox to Catholics. One doesn't permit Heterodox to commune. Have respect for your Eucharist and guard it, otherwise don't except anyone else to respect it. Papal Infallibility=Roman DOGMA, those who don't believe are Heretics to Rome.
Of course there were Popes, there are also Popes in Alexanderia. It's an honorary title, like Ecumenical Patriarch. It's not really meant to mean anything authoritatively, just honorary. I think that the concept of "strictly honorary titles" is hard for legalistic Romans to grasp. It is understandable, it's a different cultural mindset. But that doesn't make Rome right for innovating because reality wasn't kind to them.

However, he did posses the titles "Vicarius Christi" (Vicar of Christ, late 300's), "Servus Sevorum Dei" (Servant of the Servants of God, mid-400's), and Yep, you guessed it, "Head of the Church" (late 400's), a title by which the Pope is addressed, not only by innumerable Eastern Fathers, but ALSO by the synodal letters from three Ecumenical Councils (Chalcedon, Constantinople III, and Nicaea II).

And it is true that the Orthodox Church really doesn't have an earthly equalvalent to the Roman Pope. Even the Patriarch of Constantinople is really an Archbishop with an honorary title. It is simply because he is the Patriarch of the New Roman capital that he is "First Among Equals" of the Orthodox Church. Outside of his jurisdictions, if he attempts action over another bishop, he is rebuked. Look at the controversy over Arab Orthodox in North America, that ticked off Jerusalem.

I heard that the roman Church was a part of the Orthodox Church like every other church. Actually, Christianity was originally mostly within Judaism. The combination of Jewish practices with the infant Christian religion was what caused the Council of Jerusalem. Jewish Christians still worshiped in Temples and observed the Torah. This form of Christianity mostly died out because nearly all Jews rejected Christianity. What we practice today is Pauline Christianity or Gentile Christianity, which has its origins in the Greco-Roman and Syro-Copto-Armenian cultures.

Actually the Bible doesn't teach that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son, only that he "proceedeth from the Father" (John 15:26). In any case it was a unilateral addition on the part of Rome from a Spanish local council, so it is an illicit addition. Besides, that was how the Councils wrote it and how it was accepted by all the Patriarchs. It would have been left well enough alone if not for the heresy of Arianism, which was mostly a German problem.

To be fair the west did add it unilaterally at a council in Spain in the sixth century, when the Ecumenical Councils decreed that words could only be added to it if approved by an Ecumenical Council. Charlemagne later used the Filioque against the Greeks, even though they had never heard of it since it was made up at a Spanish local council. Roman Catholicism owns its origins mostly to the Franks and Germans, later the power went mostly to the Italians.
The Fillioque was rejected by Bishops of Rome for almost five hundred years and was only added to the western form of the Creed in 1014, causing a break in Communion which would lead to 1054.There also is no evidence of the Pope of Rome coercing anyone to do anything outside of his own Patriarchate until the eighth century when he attempted to dethrone the Patriarch of Constantinople, and that was rejected because Rome never had the right to interfere outside the West.
In order to "justify" the Fillioque, the Pope had to make up a story to legitimize his own behavior, unilateral addition to the Creed, and so concocted a story about Papal Supremacy which didn't exist before the mid-eleventh century, starting with the reforms of Cluny starting in 1055. You can believe the nice Catholic retelling of history, but that doesn't make it true. It is true, Catholics really know little to nothing about Orthodoxy.
No Orthodox would deny Rome the right of exercising authority, in its own territory. Over Latin Christians, the Orthodox would have no problem, it is over all Christians of the East, and now their diaspora, that the Orthodox refuse to allow Rome to have an authority that it has never had, excluding the post-Schism Eastern Catholics and the Italo-Greeks who fell under the Roman Patriarchate, who almost died out after the Norman invasions and where replaced by Albanians in the 1500s.
It is also the reality that although the Roman Church doesn't consider the Orthodox to be heretics, the Orthodox Church DOES believe that the Romans are HERETICS. Notice that although the Orthodox believe that many Catholic teachings are heretical, Rome has over the last forty years attempted to reduce the seperation to a mere jurisdictional problem. Rome will one day have a rude awakening to the reality.

these "miracles " I keep seeing posted by thr Orthodox church are not so miraculous. I'm sorry. But the miracles I see comming from this, compared to the so called cursed protestant church are night and day. How about a missionary I know, who went to an African village and put his hands on a blind man with other missionaries and prayed for healing. Jesus healed the man. he could see for the first time in his life, and his village came to christ. (the whole village) THAT is a miracle. Praise God

I disagree with your disagrement. The strictly Ephesians (Egyptian, Syriacs etc) were mutually excommunicated by the post Ephesian chalcedonians (greeks, latins etc..) as heretics. There has not mutual communion starting the fifth century to this day. Now the chalcedonians split (I think in 1054) over the procession of the Holy Spirit, papacy etc. Greeks might consider it schism, while Slavs (russian, serbian etc) do consider Roman Catholics are heretics that will go to hell.

Yes, Rome was the Capital of the Roman Empire, it was first among equals because it was the Old Capital of the Roman Empire. But when it collasped to the barbarians, in more ways than one, Constantinople was the new capital as declared by Constantine. Rome, having been number one and the center of the known world for around 1000 years, was obviously upset, and demanded supremacy as a means of maintaining its own image. Latin nationalism and seperatism have always played a role in Catholicism. The Lithuanian nobility believed it was decended from the Romans, their language a morphed Latin tougue. Poland and Hungary were both strong supporters of Latin language learning. Croatians would be Serbs if not for Catholicism. Ireland is Catholic because England is Protestant. Rome, on the other hand, allows members of the Polish National Catholic Church, who permit contraception and divorce, don't have manditory confession for those over 18, have married clergy, allow the Parishoners to own church property, to communion with them. HELLO! They are obviously not Catholics, so Rome is actually desecrating their Eucharist by allowing people who don't practice Catholicism to receive their sacraments. Sharing one Eucharist requires sharing the exact same faith.

People who are not in Communion with you are Heretics to you. There is no such thing are partial communion. It is cut and dry, Orthodox/Heterodox, there is NO GREY AREA. Catholics are Heterodox to Orthodox and treated that way, just as Protestants are Heterodox to Catholics. One doesn't permit Heterodox to commune. Have respect for your Eucharist and guard it, otherwise don't except anyone else to respect it. Papal Infallibility=Roman DOGMA, those who don't believe are Heretics to Rome.

Of course there were Popes, there are also Popes in Alexanderia. It's an honorary title, like Ecumenical Patriarch. It's not really meant to mean anything authoritatively, just honorary. I think that the concept of "strictly honorary titles" is hard for legalistic Romans to grasp. It is understandable, it's a different cultural mindset. But that doesn't make Rome right for innovating because reality wasn't kind to them.

However, he did posses the titles "Vicarius Christi" (Vicar of Christ, late 300's), "Servus Sevorum Dei" (Servant of the Servants of God, mid-400's), and Yep, you guessed it, "Head of the Church" (late 400's), a title by which the Pope is addressed, not only by innumerable Eastern Fathers, but ALSO by the synodal letters from three Ecumenical Councils (Chalcedon, Constantinople III, and Nicaea II).

And it is true that the Orthodox Church really doesn't have an earthly equalvalent to the Roman Pope. Even the Patriarch of Constantinople is really an Archbishop with an honorary title. It is simply because he is the Patriarch of the New Roman capital that he is "First Among Equals" of the Orthodox Church. Outside of his jurisdictions, if he attempts action over another bishop, he is rebuked. Look at the controversy over Arab Orthodox in North America, that ticked off Jerusalem.

I heard that the roman Church was a part of the Orthodox Church like every other church. And that by the time the roman Bishop went crazy and claimed that he is the ruler of all Christians and the highest of high and so on and then the roman Church felt out of Orthodox and became what we know today as roman catholic Church.

Actually, Christianity was originally mostly within Judaism. The combination of Jewish practices with the infant Christian religion was what caused the Council of Jerusalem. Jewish Christians still worshiped in Temples and observed the Torah. This form of Christianity mostly died out because nearly all Jews rejected Christianity. What we practice today is Pauline Christianity or Gentile Christianity, which has its origins in the Greco-Roman and Syro-Copto-Armenian cultures.

To avoid error on our own part, not to chastise others. We are ultimately responsible for our own actions and belief or disbelief, which ultimately are also personal sins. Persecuting others is not what true Christians do. There is a difference, however, between doctrinally speculation, and not informing people to the historical reality of Christianity over the made up stories their denominations concoct about Church history.

Fathers - Son - Holy Spirit - are only terms to distinguish the persons of the trinity. They are equal in essence, power, might...etc. but they are different in their relation to each other - that is the reason we give them 3 different names.

@jeshualivesforever: There is ONLY ONE GOD = The Most Holy Trinity. Three person but still only ONE GOD. When we pray to God, we pray the Trinity - the Father - the Son - the Spirit. All three are completely EQUAL.
But when we talk about the Persons (hypostasis) there is ONE source in the Trinity: the Father he is NOT BEGOTTEN - the Son is BEGOTTEN and the Spirit PROCEEDS from the Father.
That is the teaching of the Bible, of the Creed and of the Holy Fathers!

Actually the Bible doesn't teach that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son, only that he "proceedeth from the Father" (John 15:26). In any case it was a unilateral addition on the part of Rome from a Spanish local council, so it is an illicit addition. Besides, that was how the Councils wrote it and how it was accepted by all the Patriarchs. It would have been left well enough alone if not for the heresy of Arianism, which was mostly a German problem.

To be fair the west did add it unilaterally at a council in Spain in the sixth century, when the Ecumenical Councils decreed that words could only be added to it if approved by an Ecumenical Council. Charlemagne later used the Filioque against the Greeks, even though they had never heard of it since it was made up at a Spanish local council. Roman Catholicism owns its origins mostly to the Franks and Germans, later the power went mostly to the Italians.

The Fillioque was rejected by Bishops of Rome for almost five hundred years and was only added to the western form of the Creed in 1014, causing a break in Communion which would lead to 1054.There also is no evidence of the Pope of Rome coercing anyone to do anything outside of his own Patriarchate until the eighth century when he attempted to dethrone the Patriarch of Constantinople, and that was rejected because Rome never had the right to interfere outside the West.

In order to "justify" the Fillioque, the Pope had to make up a story to legitimize his own behavior, unilateral addition to the Creed, and so concocted a story about Papal Supremacy which didn't exist before the mid-eleventh century, starting with the reforms of Cluny starting in 1055. You can believe the nice Catholic retelling of history, but that doesn't make it true. It is true, Catholics really know little to nothing about Orthodoxy.

No Orthodox would deny Rome the right of exercising authority, in its own territory. Over Latin Christians, the Orthodox would have no problem, it is over all Christians of the East, and now their diaspora, that the Orthodox refuse to allow Rome to have an authority that it has never had, excluding the post-Schism Eastern Catholics and the Italo-Greeks who fell under the Roman Patriarchate, who almost died out after the Norman invasions and where replaced by Albanians in the 1500s.

It is also the reality that although the Roman Church doesn't consider the Orthodox to be heretics, the Orthodox Church DOES believe that the Romans are HERETICS. Notice that although the Orthodox believe that many Catholic teachings are heretical, Rome has over the last forty years attempted to reduce the seperation to a mere jurisdictional problem. Rome will one day have a rude awakening to the reality.
