I'm actually thinking of getting this sword custom made, but just to put on my wall and i'm also getting Genesis's sword made too (The red one).
I anyone can answer my question, it will be greatly appreciated...
If the sword Masamune is supposed to be 7 feet long, does that include the handle along with the blade? or is the blade like 6 feet long and the handle 1 foot long? IDK. someone please explain.
I want to workout all the time so i can commision this guy to make me some sort of badass heavy weaponry and so i can post a video of me using it to like, chop down trees or some shit. I might have to take steroids or some shit but it'd be worth it xD
ya good craftsmanship but ive never seen a katana mad with a hand grinder o. o but really nice work and im not trying to insult you but katana's are a little less bulky than that sword
@thebeliver91 also, im not saying this stuff to be a douche or anything, im just saying it because I know alot about swords. I have been to many weapon expo's and in each one that has a nodachi featured its the most watched demonstration at the show. The reason being is it takes years and years of practice to use it efficiently.
@estrangdspydr BRO thats to huge ,athe nodachi is mostly just the tsuka thats biguer than a normal katana, its biguer in blade to but its not that size,or you can still say that if you can actualy cut 10 tatami "sticks" whit it, BRO
@1duspiores I couldn't understand you because well whatever you typed wasn't english... but if you are trying to say sephiroths sword was too big to be a nodachi, Nodachi's measured between 6 and 7 feet (including the handle). I am not talking about the "sword" in this video, that is neither a katana, nodachi, or well, a sword in general, it is a sharpened piece of metal that was never forged... The name of Sephiroths sword is "Masamune" named after the legendary Japanese swordsmith in tribute.
@estrangdspydr handle?tsuka is the right word so stop talking about something you clearly dont have the knowledge to discuss ,i will not awser more...........
@1duspiores As always, ignorance is bliss... A Nodachi has a handle, that is 1/4 of its total length, an odachi has a handle that is 1/3 of its total length. Unlike you, I don't need to use japanese terms to make people believe what I am talking about... but if you want to get technical... The Tsuka should be no more than 1/4 the tottal size of the Nagasa to be considered a Nodachi. Good enough for you? or do I have to contact the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kai and as them?
@1duspiores How is that relevant to anything we are talking about? Besides, didn't you say that you weren't going to use this "god" video as our play ground?
@XxDeadsoulz not relevant?OK ,FIRST THE BOY TALKED ABOUT A NODACHI ,YES?OK,2nd WEN I USED THE WORDS TSUKA AND KATANA THE BOY SAID THAT I WASNT SPEEKING ENGLISH (REALY !!??)AND 3rd YOU GUYS ARE SOO DUMM I CANT RESIST TO "PLAY" ,AND PLEASE LEARN BEFORE TEACHING NEXT TIME(see ya)

@1duspiores Yes, I do. Because, like you said, God bless Google. I read the conversation, and you came out of no where just like I did, and started talking shit to him. So really, there was no point for either of us talking.
@XxDeadsoulz no no no,you dont say that in such a harsh way, teacher is the correct term;)it seems that this nodachi subject give alot of people will to talk(write, and whit some cursing along)the thing that remains unchangable is the fact were "standyng in front" of the "masamune" of the game that sold more dreams than copyes;)
@thebeliver91 Nodoachi's were NOT used for stabbing.... Stabbing someone with a nodachi is like picking your teeth with a 3 inch toothpick.. i.e. it will break... the nodachi were used by extremely skilled swordsman.... and those swordsmen could swing a nodachi just like a katana... and to wield one properly, you needed alot of strength and alot of skill. i.e. why sephiroth used a nodachi was a recognition of how skillful he was with a blade. They didnt just give it to him because it looked cool
@thebeliver91 It's Nodachi.... not "no-dachi".... and it wasn't a spear like weapon, it was a two-handed SWORD.... the difference between a spear and a sword is that a sword has a long blade and a short handle, and a spear had a long handle and a short blade... The Tobongiri, Nihongo and Otegine were the spears of Japan... the Nodachi was the Japanese equivalent of of a European great-sword....
Cloud can use the Buster Sword because he is infused with Mako energy, which makes him as strong as any member of SOLDIER.
Sephiroth can wield the Masamune because he isn't human. He is humanoid, but not human. He was created from the corpses of failed JENOVA experiments. Thus, he is able to wield this huge katana with such dexterity and ease.

The god damn game even says the sword only ways a few pounds. It has nothing to do with being in fucking SOLDIER. It's obviously made of a metal type not known or unobtainable in this world. The same goes for the god damn Masamune
@chazzyp1001 No. Sephiroth is human. He was born the son of Lucrecia and Hojo. The only inhuman thing about him is that he was injected with Jenova cells while he was still gestating in the womb.
@lp2isawesome Yeah, that was the first one that came to mind to be honest. And then the sword Masamune made had to be used to kill the possessed swordsman.

'Obama, Osama... It's the same' Some things are quite serious when misspelled, so no, i'm not arguing about nonsense, but i didn't know it was sefirot in spain, so sorry for that :)
Zweihanders were used in combat. It is most famously attributed to Pier Gerlofs Donia, a Frisian who was said to have been the greatest master of the weapon. The advantage it had over pikes was that it could easily destroy the shafts of the outstretched weapons, effectively disabling the enemy soldier before they could do any harm.
with a spear you only can poke and jab with a long as sword you can slice and stince its made of metal it will have no problem breaking a wodden or hallow spear like they used back in the day
Its made of steel huh? Its good but if its close to making it look sturdier id use carbon. Awesome though, but then again your not a master blacksmith for a replica its pretty damn cool, how much?
@RolyTofKokirians There are different types of katanas. I doubt that the masamune would have any practical value in combat, but if I had to think of a similar katana I would say the odachi is the most similar. Long blade while maintaining usefulness in a fight.
@TurmoilTom Oh, from the master of Katana warfare Turmoiltom, I remember reading a passage from that name in the Art of War. You dont know a fucking thing about the swords you dick sucking Darryl. You read some shit on wikipedia and watched a documentary and you think you have the right to regurgitate that information too the youtube audience? Your probably a nigger, do you have any information on if niggers are useful in a fight? Go eat some fried chicken and grape soda, you useless nigger.
To answer your question, Zweihanders were indeed used. But they were more of a Combat Deferent then a real sword. People who actually used them for fighting were ridiculously huge guys.
The "Horse killer" is a Japanese invention and it's called Zanbatou in Japanese, though as of today I haven't seen any over the internet, there are however some very long katana of which the longuest cutting edge is of about 220 cm long (7 feet and 2.61 inches).
It's another cool sword, but you made it too wide, the masamune wasn't horse killer size, it was more of an odachi, they just had bad size ratio in the games, also when you wield the sword you're supposed to wield it in a backwards fashion with the butt of the hilt facing outwards swinging it with two hands."

Sephiroth had the MASAMUNE Murasame was a sword in FF7 too but it was a buy from shop weapon from Wutai, Sephiroths Masamune was just an extremely powerful custom sword.
@TheEGWater Thank God somebody knows at least some Japanese lore. You're right about Masamune being holy (Masamune was a legendary swordsmith who forged swords that were considered without peer, and could only harm evil (in legends)) But I believe you mean Muramasa, not Murasame in the second part of your statement. Muramasa was the evil sword maker. In the stories I've read, there is no Murasame. Murasame is more or less a name I've seen in video games, simply mixing the two names together.
Imma ride my horse at that tiny Japanese man, all he has is his short girly sword... OH SHIT what is that, oh no my horses legs holy f*ck... I am dead.
Zweihander goes about the same way, but you'd expect germans to be crafty.
@meowwl Nodachi means "field sword", but yes, it was nick-named "horse killer" because it was sometimes used as such. I think the sword from China that he is talking about is either the dadao or changdao. He also mentioned the German zweihander which was indeed used in battle. I doubt it was used to chop the heads off of pikes, because chopping a thick hardwood pole is difficult enough, especially when they are held horizontally like in formation, if you know what I mean.
hang on your wall. and make sure its the first thing that is seen enterting your house. criminals will run in fear and you can stop the dumb ones stupid enough to try and take it or use it
@BlackFoxArza other way around. The original final fantasy vii is the only one that has called her Aeris. KH, KH2, KH COM, she's credited as Aerith in AC, CC she's called Aerith. Square Enix comfirms, dude, her name is Aerith
@BlackFoxArza her English-ized name was Aeris, her original name was Aerith. They reverted back to Aerith when KH was released which was years after people were referring to the character by both names.
"In the English release of Final Fantasy VII, Aerith’s name was transliterated as "Aeris" by SCEA. As the Japanese language does not have the "th" sound, and the closest thing is "su", the translators took the "su" sound in her Japanese name to mean a single "s."
@BlackFoxArza i didn't have to research anything, that link only showed i was merely correct :/ it's not like you'd have believed me without proper citation :p besides i knew that tidbit since the game was out
@BlackFoxArza part 2: However, since Kingdom Hearts and in all related appearances since, her name has been "Aerith", and the name "Aeris" has been considered retconned."
a lot of western swords were not sharp, instead they cracked the armor cutting it into the opponent's body. a sword that size dull would still be functional, making sheathing not an issue... just a thought.....
Sephiroth's sword was actually a Nodachi. Remember how the blade looked compared to the handle and then wiki Nodachi.

Zweihanders were used in combat. It is most famously attributed to Pier Gerlofs Donia, a Frisian who was said to have been the greatest master of the weapon. The advantage it had over pikes was that it could easily destroy the shafts of the outstretched weapons, effectively disabling the enemy soldier before they could do any harm.

if a katana is that big doesnt it kinda defeat the purpous of it?
RolyTofKokirians 10 months ago
@RolyTofKokirians There are different types of katanas. I doubt that the masamune would have any practical value in combat, but if I had to think of a similar katana I would say the odachi is the most similar. Long blade while maintaining usefulness in a fight.
TurmoilTom 10 months ago
@TurmoilTom Oh, from the master of Katana warfare Turmoiltom, I remember reading a passage from that name in the Art of War. You dont know a fucking thing about the swords you dick sucking Darryl. You read some shit on wikipedia and watched a documentary and you think you have the right to regurgitate that information too the youtube audience? Your probably a nigger, do you have any information on if niggers are useful in a fight? Go eat some fried chicken and grape soda, you useless nigger.

cloudvincent20 10 months ago
To answer your question, Zweihanders were indeed used. But they were more of a Combat Deferent then a real sword. People who actually used them for fighting were ridiculously huge guys.
waytodarkness 10 months ago
There are reasons they have naginata's and spears.

How do you pronounce masamune?
poopikins 11 months ago
@poopikins mah-sah-moo-nay.
Maphysto 11 months ago
The "Horse killer" is a Japanese invention and it's called Zanbatou in Japanese, though as of today I haven't seen any over the internet, there are however some very long katana of which the longuest cutting edge is of about 220 cm long (7 feet and 2.61 inches).

"Also to the creator.
I really dont think he gives a fuck :p

remember, Sephiroth had the Murasame: The Demon Blade, which didn't care who it killed. The Masamune was a holy sword that only struck down evil.
TheEGWater 11 months ago 4
@TheEGWater
Sephiroth had the MASAMUNE Murasame was a sword in FF7 too but it was a buy from shop weapon from Wutai, Sephiroths Masamune was just an extremely powerful custom sword.
Xarandele 11 months ago
@Xarandele u should also research the origins of the two swords.

Moshburger420 5 months ago
@TheEGWater No, sephiroth had a masamune.
According to japanese legends:
Muramasa = The blood thirsty evil blade.
Masamune = Holy sword. (But it doesnt mean Sephiroth has a Masamune, cause he does.)
Masih89 5 months ago
@TheEGWater Thank God somebody knows at least some Japanese lore. You're right about Masamune being holy (Masamune was a legendary swordsmith who forged swords that were considered without peer, and could only harm evil (in legends)) But I believe you mean Muramasa, not Murasame in the second part of your statement. Muramasa was the evil sword maker. In the stories I've read, there is no Murasame. Murasame is more or less a name I've seen in video games, simply mixing the two names together.
MetalGearRexPilot 5 months ago
@TheEGWater Not Murasame, Muramasa.

Imma ride my horse at that tiny Japanese man, all he has is his short girly sword... OH SHIT what is that, oh no my horses legs holy f*ck... I am dead.
Zweihander goes about the same way, but you'd expect germans to be crafty.

drosengix 11 months ago
I think that the word for "horse killer sword" you're looking for is the japanese word "nodachi".
meowwl 11 months ago
@meowwl Nodachi means "field sword", but yes, it was nick-named "horse killer" because it was sometimes used as such. I think the sword from China that he is talking about is either the dadao or changdao. He also mentioned the German zweihander which was indeed used in battle. I doubt it was used to chop the heads off of pikes, because chopping a thick hardwood pole is difficult enough, especially when they are held horizontally like in formation, if you know what I mean.

aelegent 11 months ago
@aelegent Um her name is Aeris it was just in Kingdom Hearts that she was called Aerith
BlackFoxArza 10 months ago
@BlackFoxArza other way around. The original final fantasy vii is the only one that has called her Aeris. KH, KH2, KH COM, she's credited as Aerith in AC, CC she's called Aerith. Square Enix comfirms, dude, her name is Aerith
stomyn 10 months ago
@BlackFoxArza her English-ized name was Aeris, her original name was Aerith. They reverted back to Aerith when KH was released which was years after people were referring to the character by both names.
"In the English release of Final Fantasy VII, Aerith’s name was transliterated as "Aeris" by SCEA. As the Japanese language does not have the "th" sound, and the closest thing is "su", the translators took the "su" sound in her Japanese name to mean a single "s."
aelegent 10 months ago
@aelegent well you've done your research very nice
BlackFoxArza 10 months ago
@BlackFoxArza i didn't have to research anything, that link only showed i was merely correct :/ it's not like you'd have believed me without proper citation :p besides i knew that tidbit since the game was out
aelegent 10 months ago
@BlackFoxArza part 2: However, since Kingdom Hearts and in all related appearances since, her name has been "Aerith", and the name "Aeris" has been considered retconned."

a lot of western swords were not sharp, instead they cracked the armor cutting it into the opponent's body. a sword that size dull would still be functional, making sheathing not an issue... just a thought.....
