At the beginning, Spongebob was a weird talking sponge, but there was a sense of actual development and growth among the story and its characters, while keeping subtly. Cartoons or not, all people of all ages can appreciate that type of writing, no matter what genre it is. Now the story is inconsistent, the characters contradict their developmeent, unnecessary plots points are constantly repeated as entire episodes. It's a mess now.

As much as I like the Mario cartoon, I had to admit it had no originality. Ever other episode was a parady of movies and other pop culture. Some of the dialogue was cheesy and the events made no sense.
Agreed. Sonic also had no story. It was just basic hero rescues hostages from mad scientist scenerio. But the Sonic cartoon that came on the weekday expounded on the series and made it entertaining if not perfect.

@JDLOCKON True, but the Nostalgia Critic is basically a character designed to complain a lot and find fault with EVERYTHING he reviews (with a few exceptions that undertone it). The newer ones are less one sided if you want to watch them

If I wanted to hear this much bitching I'd go to any family members house. It doesn't help that it makes dumb people hate the show because instead of forming opinions of there own they'll think these are valid reasons not realizing its mostly satire

@JDLOCKON you can have your opinion on the show for yourself, but i really found this series lame and cheap as hell. it was a good thing Super Mario World came after and was a giant improvement over this. and Zelda, same scenario, but was 16 when i first watched it. cameos alone shouldn't make a show. it won't pique in the long run. think of DB Evolution. im not here to convince you to like this guy, but to understand that satire has its good as it has its bad, exploitable shows, like em or not.

@JDLOCKON excuse me for butting in, but I would like to say something. let's say some of these people here have watched these shows and movies before they watched the review, but merely forgotten about them. they watch his videos and see his rants, some believing that he is wrong about them, as we let nostalgia overcome our reasoning w/o realizing it. personally, i thought this was stupid as a kid. it only had one hook: the Mario Bros. if you got rid of the Mario Bros., this show was a mess.

@JDLOCKON to a lot of Mario fans, this show was scene as a means to sell Mario to people more than be an entertaining show. if the review style is your prime concern and that was your conclusion, my advice is maybe you shouldn't be watching these types of videos altogether, as they are rampant on youtube. my only concern is if points can be made and are intelligent, rather or not the form of speech is unfitting. despite his presentation, he does exhibit very good knowledge of the material @ hand

A. You have a severe flawed sense of humor.
B. How was this show even remotely genius in any regard? This show was a piece of shit. I'd say that is your nostalgia talking. And did think the reason we review bad stuff is cause, well, they're bad? Think about it. Someone is going to look up preferences about something. There are few people out there who actually love the bad stuff like Sonic 06. So we should listen to them? This show sucked, short n sweet. Look it up.

Isn't it relative? Also you can in no way say this is a review. A review is unbiest. A review is to state a products strengths and weakness. And don't try to claim this show as at least no strengths. @JDLOCKON cont. I.E., think about the Spongebob series. At the beginning, Spongebob was a weird talking sponge, but there was a sense of actual development and growth among the story and its characters, while keeping subtly. Cartoons or not, all people of all ages can appreciate that type of writing, no matter what genre it is. Now the story is inconsistent, the characters contradict their developmeent, unnecessary plots points are constantly repeated as entire episodes. It's a mess now.

To me, your comment seems to imply that we do not take the time to make our own sense of quality just because someone says. I dont do that. Also, you mainly started complaining about how we shouldn't take his opinion seriously, which could be said about all critics, espicially yours and mine as every person has different taste.

@JDLOCKON cont. We are from two different worlds. I dont give anything an excuse. Any media plug of any kind can be very effective in quality, rather it is a kids show, a videogame movie/cartoon, etc, if effort was given. If you are not going to be serious about your work, then why should we hold back and give you any form of slack you dont deserve? They do the assignments; we are the professors. Media has proven from time to time to get incredible results, like Sonic SatAm and Spawn.

If you were to make a review of your own, your word cannot be considered reliable as well, because as you said in your comment, criticism is just another form of opinion. I used the word "flawed" because I ran into people like you who did the same thing, "It wasn't meant to be good." "This was my childhood" or "___is supposed to suck!" with no rational sense. As if we just accept the art form of mind never existed.

As much as I like the Mario cartoon, I had to admit it had no originality. Ever other episode was a parady of movies and other pop culture. Some of the dialogue was cheesy and the events made no sense.

Agreed. Sonic also had no story. It was just basic hero rescues hostages from mad scientist scenerio. But the Sonic cartoon that came on the weekday expounded on the series and made it entertaining if not perfect.
