  • 'where the hell are we' that is wrong the last thing heard on the CVR was the captain asking for more power. If you're going to the scene of a plane crash where people have died to talk about it at least get your facts right

  • A shocking tragedy that should never have happened and the fact the whole Mcmahon Royal Commission was not table till 1999 shows how the government of the day were trying to disown the whole damn thing. Well done to Gordon Vette for being a whistleblower! RIP to those who died.... one day a much higher authority will decide who really was to blame!

  • @lancemckellar

Vette's book is fascinating, but unfortunately I feel the reader is misled in some important respects. There's something very wrong with a report that blames a computer entirely for an accident which occurred in VMC. One must ask, "if there were no on board navigation, would the crew still have been certain of their position?" I don't see how.

  • What a bunch of mentalists! "Where the hell are we?" -?? and a "two word expletive" -?? Neither of these are on the tape, certainly not near the end. And blow up the wreckage (widely scattered and already in tiny pieces) to BLOWN UP?! To discourage SIGHTSEERS?! On ANTARCTICA?!!!!

  • I was only 11 at the time, when I heard it was New Zealand's Worse Air Crash on Television One at the time, my heart goes out to the Aircrew, Passengers, family & friends, where 257 people that cherish on Mt Erebus on board the Air New Zealand DC-10-30, (ZK-NZP), flight 901, (Rest In Peace).
