  • If you are using a program like 3d studio max to do modeling is it better to create each model one by one and import into unity or should you create your entire scene in 3d studio or whatever editor first and then import the entire scene into the unity game engine? Any help many thanks!

  • Hey I want help! When I import my model, there is nothing in the scene view and even if I scale it up,nothing happens! Please help me! I am able to only import .dae into Unity and not .fbx.I use Unity 2.6

  • @thenishanth420 Hmm.,, thats quite wierd.. have you checked that your walls in Sketchup arnt Inside out??

  • @KeehanProductions ok I imported it properly. But when I go at the house with Unity 3D with my FPS,he just goes through the walls! Please help me!

  • @thenishanth420 Make sure you selected the model in the assets and tick the "Generate Colliders" box and apply.. sorry if this comment was late.. i dont use this account much anymore

  • @thenishanth420 I had the same problem, but fixed it. Look below: How to Export SketchUp© Free into Unity© Free using Blender: 1. Export your Sketchup file as a Google Earth File. (.kmz) 2. Rename your file to "file_name.zip". 3. Unzip 4. Open "file_name". 5. Open "Models". 6. Open the "file_name.dae" in Blender 7. Save file. ("file_name.blend") 8. Open Unity 9. Assets/Import New Asset/"file_name.blend" 10. Wooooooooo!
  • @robotdna You sir (or madam) have just made me one happy person with this. Worked perfectly.

  • @Ikizami Glad to know it. All you need to do to color it is when you drag the model out into the world, open the model in the little directory, and there will be a huge list of points, then you find the points you wan, and drag a mesh onto it.

You were right. I am a sir.

  • nice thanks buddy keep it up

  • Thanks man, im using google sketch up now, thx!, but not for character modeling.

  • great things great things but when i put it in unity it stays with out textures do you know how i can make it with textures? (material)

  • why is it that my buildings are always missing some parts like walls or floors , even when i do it exactly the same like you ; exporting in FBX format , etc...

  • @VoiceOfBelgium Its missing parts because faces on sketchup arnt 2sides so you have to makesure every wall and roof is solid. not flat. and what do u mean "Is it possible to animate the same object you create"?

  • @KeehanProductions I mean is it possible for it move ect. like the person, say ... by shooting it and blowing it up?

  • @KeehanProductions well actually what it think he means is..the same question i have... for example i make a character on sketchup... and import it into unity, then can i animate it? like make it move etc...

  • @elcubanito422 yes.. that is possible but im not really sure how to animate in sketchup and its not very good... i recommend animating in something like 3DS Max... you could model it in sketchup and import it into another program like 3DS Max or MAYA... what ever suits you best

  • @KeehanProductions yeah i know how to animate in sketchup....but it srlsy sucks...btw thnx ill check 3ds max on youtube heard some good things abut it before.

  • Is it possible to animate the same object you create?
