Ive listend to this album soooo many times, and this album just seems to take all the very very best elements of Gothic (listent to the slowed down bit in this tune around 2.45-3.25), SoG, Icon and Draconian Times and integrate them all into one. All those PL albums transported me to another world when i listened to them, but nothing from One Second on did that. This album is an utter masterpiece, and something incredibly special in this world has been rediscovered.

Why is it that so many so called Metal fans are just as narrow minded as the trendy sheep of society that don't have a mind of ther own? Why is there a competition to see who is more Metal? So what if PL went a little experimental they actually made some great albums, if you don't like them don't listen to them, just listen to you sall Pure Metal collection where every album sounds the same. Pushing boundaries is what sets Metal apart from other Genres.

As for Paradise Lost, the "Symbol of Life" was in my opinion the best of their albums, though the most experimental. Of course, not to sound ridiculous, I have to add that "In Requiem" and "Faith Divides us Death Unites us" are great, too. Shit, I always have to write so much in comments, lol. :D

I've tabbed the album for bass on the PL website (paradiselost.co.uk) - Forums - Tabulatures. These could help learn the rythmn guitar parts, but I'm guessing you want the lead guitar tabs! Ask one of the chaps on there, they might just have what you're looking for.

Ever since this album came out I have given it many tries, and it is just not up to par with any of their previous work. I am a fan of this band til death but I hate to see them regress like this, In Requiem was excellent but it seems they have just tried to go for a heavier sound and forgotten about the songwriting that made all their prior work so amazing. Most people who are saying this their best in years probably don't like a whole lot of music outside of the metal genre anyway.

@LeonJordison I've listened to Cradle for years, there is nothing there to suggest that their drum patterns are more creative than anything in Paradise Lost's catalog.

Even if you think what you say is true (COF drums being better than PL) Adrian himself admitted that he couldn't play most of the drum parts on PL's latest album, so your point is nullified.

Personally the only difference I see in Cradle's drumming (with the exception of Thornography) is more double kick and higher BPM,
