@R33shaft When turbo charging a 2 stroke most people use a ball bearing turbo as they dont require the high pressure a journal bearing does, so you can use very small 12v oil pumps with oil tank. Done alot of snow mobiles like this.

@KayWal1981 they cant pass strick emissions standards of most countries because of the mix gas they have to run... but they still make 2 stroke dirt bikes... at least yamaha, ktm, gas gas, and beta do...... the ktm 250xc is one of the best all around dirt bikes in production today.....

@lurifaxen1337 They can be, but due to the way the engine works, there isnt very much room the work the air during a cylinder cycle, yes it is possible to turbocharge a 2 stroke, but most turbo'd sled's are 4 strokes to begin with, its just alot more simple to turbo the 4 stroke than in it the 2 stroke. alot less stuff invoved, but i do concede that it is possible ^^.
on a 2-stroke, the exhaust port is open while the fuel-air mixture is forced into the cylinder. With a turbo you would blow a lot of the new charge out the exhaust pipe. Besides the horrendous fuel consumption there would be little pressure increase and HP gain. The exhaust could be tuned to provide an immense amount of backpressure enabling use of the more dense charge, but the engine would only run well within a very small RPM range. to install a turbo on a carbed bike is not worth it.

@lurifaxen1337 They can be, but due to the way the engine works, there isnt very much room the work the air during a cylinder cycle, yes it is possible to turbocharge a 2 stroke, but most turbo'd sled's are 4 strokes to begin with, its just alot more simple to turbo the 4 stroke than in it the 2 stroke. alot less stuff invoved, but i do concede that it is possible ^^.

on a 2-stroke, the exhaust port is open while the fuel-air mixture is forced into the cylinder. With a turbo you would blow a lot of the new charge out the exhaust pipe. Besides the horrendous fuel consumption there would be little pressure increase and HP gain. The exhaust could be tuned to provide an immense amount of backpressure enabling use of the more dense charge, but the engine would only run well within a very small RPM range. to install a turbo on a carbed bike is not worth it.

Exhaust gasses spools the exhaust turbin, in turn is connected on a common shaft that spools the compresser. all internal combustion engine (rotary. jet and reciprocating 2 or 4 stroke) have exhaust. all internal combustion engines must have intake, compression, a form of ignition eather a spark or compression and exhast. now you know. you have now been schooled
