The Supremes are very young here--only about 20--and this is a challenge for them (Florence is a soprano--but this is high). And Ross is surprisingly enough too aggressive, even rough, at times here. They were still learning--but definitely on their way!
I dont mean any harm but that was not a good vocal performence by Diana at all she just sounded off and got worse towards the end of the song. Dionne had been able to show her vocal ability doing her many hits in the early and mid sixties I just think that Diana was in over her head but I give her credit for trying but she should have left this song to Dionne Warwick ti sing.
@paul51 I think this is a good version, but I found ssstate727's comment rather amusing. It's not like he said something objectively negatively like '[whoever] should die".
GO DIANA, sounds so much more different than her other songs, very strong.

Not bad. I have too much respect for the Supremes and Ms. Ross to say anything negative but I will say, Dionne's original is very special to me.

I bet Burt Bacharach gave Dionne Warwick a raise after hearing this.

Excellent vocal by a very young Diana Ross . . . and Flo was singing out in the background!!

Definitely the original Supremes probably on a Dick CLark caravan tour or a live show very early in their career.
