@MrSmithstudios I didn't go on script :-P. I was trying to remember the specs from my head and i kinda went *blurp*. I happen to LOVE this lens myself (it's the mainstay on my T2i) for everything from movies to just general shooting about. It's a GREAT lens for walk-around and for studio... not so much from the sidelines far far away in the stands.
I wish you would of put the lens on the camera and showed it recording stuff. I've seen what the lens looks like. I wanna see what the lens will record video like
@indemaTROY The first time I did the recording with that lens, I didn't know it would pick up. After that, (the 18-55 review) i went either all manual or used the 24-105 to record. USM is near silent in recording, the 18-55 that recorded this ISNT.
@ganzonomy Cool, I was thinking about getting this lens when I get my own T2i. I'm currently using a 50mm f1.8 for most things, but for video work I'd like to have something with a wider angle. But I'd still like to be able to use the zoom and have have to worry about it getting darker when I zoom.
@indemaTROY I have a T2i. GREAT camera to start D-SLR with. I would get these lenses for it
17-55 f/2.8 IS USM: the T2i's kit lens but a constant aperture (2.8), fast and silent USM, Image Stablized, and made for rebel.
24-105 f/4 L IS USM: The one we see here, great normal to telephoto zoom, silent and QUICK AF, built like a tank, and will be usable for both EF-S and FullFrame cameras
700-200 f/4 L IS USM: 24-105's big bro, white lens, great for outdoor sports yet small enough to walk about.
This was my first video with the 18-55 (my previous one with my cockatoo was shot with a point n shoot) and I was amazed how loud the focus motor actually was. As far as the 24-105 goes, even with a USM motor, the IS and USM can still be heard as a low-pitched whirring sound, one that is nowhere near as loud though as on the 18-55.
The 24-105 is a spectacular lens, and it should be protected with a filter. Watch that video for more on this lens and why filtering is important.

Hey i can see your enthusiastic about the new lens you got,
But just use manual focus, and have a A4 piece of paper with all the specs on it (not a script).
Well you provided a goodish "technical video" (The kinda video I like).
I'v gotta admit im REALLY excited about getting my '24-105mm f4 L IS USM' for XMAS.

justKeith13 5 months ago
@justKeith13 A canon EOS Rebel T2i with an 18-55 lens (the kit lens). The video is 1080p / 30fps.

@indemaTROY If you want to see what the lens will record like, watch the 18-55mm review.
ganzonomy 7 months ago
sounds like you didn't film this with a ultrasonic motor lol
paul11218 7 months ago
@paul11218 Nope, 18-55 for this lens. To hear the USM's lack of noise, watch my review of the 18-55. Thanks!

please put your lense on manual! nextime!.
evlassss 7 months ago
@evlassss Why put it in manual when the lens itself has full-time manual override?
ganzonomy 7 months ago
@ganzonomy The lens your recording the review on, you tried to focus it and it fails, and the noises of it focusing it really annoying.
