@PrivetKaboose The piccolo trumpet does not change the pitch that you play on the mouthpiece. You will have the same basic range. Lighter sound, less demanding, and you are playing one octave lower in the harmonic series so the partials are farther apart letting you lock onto the partials better. But it is no cakewalk to play. Playing it warmly, freely, and in tune like this is demanding. This guy is fantastic.
lol piccolo trumpet for marching or c trumpet? both sound a little sketchy....but if you want to get another trumpet, i suggest the C. you would use it more, and it will help your other playing as well. have you worked on any transposition
@zocphra No offense but if you are still in high school you probably have no business playing a piccolo trumpet yet. Get to a college level or better at the big horn then you MIGHT be ready. Before then all you are going to do is give yourself bad tension and habits and subject people to painful out of tune noise.
@zocphra get a C trumpet first. you rarely use a piccolo in the orchestral world, unless you want the sound for the piece. An yes, being on the Bb for as long as possible is a good thing, because it helps you a lot with the other instruments. why do you think kids start off with a Bb? i know its hard to wait. but its for your own good :)
@BYUcougar410 why C trumpet? and i was going to get one for the soul purpose of being able to play the higher octive notes easier while marching and such but thanks for the advice :P
