Dude thanx for uploading this! I'm trying to arrange this song for cello quartet, and I really needed help figuring out the argeggiated runs. I might have to modify them a little bit, due to the limitations of my instrument. However, I'll try to be as accurate as possible.
It really isn't. The first is to play the notes in this order: F# C# C# (with left hand) F# A C# F# (right hand) then you go back down with your right hand: C# A F# (and then back up) A C#. So if you're going by fingering, it should be: 5 1 3 (LH) 1 2 3 5 3 2 1 2 3. If you don't know what the numbers are, on your left hand your thumb is 1, pinky is 5. On your right hand, thumb is 1, pinky is five. Does that help?
Thanks for this video, I'm studying it intently. :)
It would be helpful to include the chords for those of us that know a bit about music theory, for instance the intro/verse goes F#m/H (I think). The pizzicato part goes F#m/E/H, knowing this part follows the chords makes it a LOT easier. By the way, H = B for you Americans, etc.
If I knew any theory, I would have included some references. I even thought of writing out the entire score, and somehow layering it over the video so people can see the actual notes I'm hitting (in case of ambiguity with where my fingers are landing). Sorry!!
trust me, I tried. I even came up with a little helmet camera so that wherever I face, the camera automatically follows. However, that didn't work out too well since I'm not always looking at the keyboard hahaha!!!
I'm glad! As I said before, if anyone makes a video cover of "Mourning Palace," send it to me as a video response so I can see it and share with friends. Thanks for watching!
That would be my 7-year old Dachshund, Boomer. He's made guest appearances in some of my videos, this seems to be the only one which made it to YouTube.
i dont know if its just me because im a perverted girl.. but is that your puppy humping a white blanket on my background? lol that just made my day ahahaha!!!!....anyways, thanks for the video, im going to learn how t play it now ;).
I have wk 3000 it looks exactly the same I thought you had the same 1 but looks like you have newer model. Its an ok keyboard though the keys are a bit to light weight dont you think?
Sorry, this is the best I could do. Besides, these metal keyboard tracks are too easy to play that I wouldn't go through all the trouble of writing sheets for.
can you make Instructional for Dimmu Borgir The Sacrilegious Scorn? I realy wan't learn to play that song... but I'm too noob to learn it all by my self...
I'll look into it. I'm still waiting to get a better tripod or to clear up some old furniture in my room so I can have a better setup to make more videos. I plan on making instructionals for all my current covers and then start some new projects.
Well, it won't matter telling the patches because they are different across different companies (Korg, Casio, Yamaha, etc). But you should look for some Strings that have a short attack length, and moderate decay length. Then find pizzicato strings for the second part, some Choir for the choir part, and Piano for the outro. Patches ont eh X50 are, in order, (prog) D003, A080, B037 and A001
Funny how I was using "natural light" for this video, and if you drag the slider around after teh video has loaded, you get this cool shadow effct, hahaha!
you are a sanity saver my friend! how many keys does your keyboard have? I have a Roland E-09 with 61 and i'm trying to figure how to compensate for the lack of range
My korg only has 61 keys, which is why I use the Casio WK3200 for the more complicated parts. it has 76 keys. The x50 does have some neat one-button octave adjustments to make up for the lack of keys, but if you get any MIDI compatible, or even just a controller, you'll be fine.
Haha, I definitely would if I thought I knew the song well enough. I just don't feel comfortable making a cover of a song I don't even remember how to play =D
well one morething can you tell me what tone yu use in the part one: strings? because I have the same keyboard and I dont know what tone is that please tell me and the pizziciato strings too please and thanks
hey can you do a instructional of the serpentine offering? because you are very good in the keyboard and I really wantto play that song please and thanks
Can I learn the song? Sure. Consider it done. You mean make an instructional video for it? I can do that. In fact, every single video I have already will be replaced by a full instructional cover.
Thx. I wish I had some form of showing layered images of a keyboard so I could actually graphically show which notes I'm hitting, in addition to hitting them. Also, the original was well over 15 minutes long, and YouTube only allows 10, so I had to re-record some parts a little faster. Hope this helps!
I've actually been making a list of songs I'll be covering for the new account (ChrisPlaysTheSynth). I thought of a bunch of Dimmu songs, but haven't chosen any yet. A Succubus in Rapture, Spellbound, Arcane Lifeforce Hysteria, Sorgens Kammer Dei II, Sympozium, and Serpentine Offering are all ones I'm looking into. I might do 2 or 3 of them.
how you get the right song for pizzicato strings?

No, it isn't. It's a Casio WK3200. I'm only using it as a controller, all the sounds you hear come from the Korg X50 (the one on top).

Part Two: Same as above, but only for this video. I usually use A001 (Piano) any other time I play it. Don't like the sound of the Pizzi from the x50.
