In the real world, when under suppressive fire, you experience high levels of fear. In games, when under suppressive fire, you just think "Oh, someone is shooting a lot... yawn... let me go this other way" or you just run around the fire. So, this type of mod, or effect, attempts to model what happens to a person in the real world when under heavy fire.
But how do you implement fear into a game? The point is to encourage the player to get away. In most games, people just look down the stream of bullets and aim for the AR gunner and take him out. By using a blurring effect, you eliminate that possibility.
@Razorback613 First I would probably be dead, so I counld not tell you, second if I did live then I would tell you I would be scared (but then again I would not know, becuase I have not been under LMG fire before, so this is just a guess and as started, "depends on the person" thus not referring to myself). Also some people have diffrent reactions to things, who knows they could be pumped up on adrenaline, so there are to many varibales to account for.
@desetnik15second Yes,every single weapon has this effect.. if you get shot even by a Pea-shooter like the MP5 "9mm SMG" you still get down so you dont get shot at.
the point of this effect is to force people take cover instead of just firing back like every single FPS,also.. in real life there's a lot of concrete, and when concrete is hit it's just like a mini-grenade exploding.. you would get hurt even if a round don't hit you directly.
hey guys when i launch PR mod, and click join game it freezes and i cant play. i launch from vanilla BF2 custom games. i cant launch from PR.exe cause it says not there or something. whats wrong and please tell me how to fix it. thanks
They will fix this in later release. It's funny how you can get supressed with 1 pistol bullet, or knife an object less than 1 m away. Mabye even surpessed by civilian rocks.
But if it was turned down, it wouldn't be realistic. One thing that may need to be addresed is how easy it is to carry and aim certain weapons, but I'm not an expert.
You're right... But guns like M249, are made for suppression not lethal killing. Every bullet from a M249 deals more dmg then a M16A4. It takes like 9 shots from a Three-Round Burst to take one guy out. While it takes like 20 shots from a M249 to take an entire squad out. Guns are all even in category, but it depends on the person who's using it that makes the gun up to its part.
Basically any rifle in PR can kill in 1 - 2 shots if you make them count. Always use single shot unless the enemy is <5m. 3 round burst is a great way to waste 66% of your ammo at medium or long range. Anyway with wounding and suppression effects you don't need a kill to stop the enemy killing you, just hitting them improves your situation and makes it harder for them to respond so you can get the kill more easily.
I think it should become gradually less dramatic as you take a lot of fire... it's more like a shock effect in battle, in the beginning you're stumped, but after a few shots fly by you, then you kinda get used to it and start firing back... They should dynamically change it to be a LITTLE bit less dramatic.
...or, maybe the kit slows you down, so it's only usefull for suppressing because you can't run into the battle like your other squad members can. Instead, you have to stay behind and give covering fire over a long distance then wait for the area to be clear before you can drag your heavy kit along and join the rest of the squad. Perhaps changing stances could be slowed down somehow, although the engine might not allow it.

They have to prone to shoot in vanilla. In PR .7, it's possible to fire in bursts and land some kills standing up. I think the devs are working on that. ;)
Judge the effect after experiencing it in the game. It's not meant to be simulating what people will see when they are under fire but rather how they feel/react.
but I dont think its that real I mean ok I didnt get shot or dont know how it looks like but I dont think it will look like that and the Iron sight is now harder to aim, dont know if that is in reality to but I dont think so. and hmm this is on 0.75? I played it yesterday night and I dint had that effect. Somebody reply on me
Wow really they are the only dev team I know of that actually listens to outsiders thats why you got lots of contributors. Have you even passed by the forums. You pretty much know everything that is going out in a release long before its out. Go ahead crash them your CD key will be on print in no time.
so, if "they dont even let the public know whats happening during the modding process" then what is this video? also, suggestions are usually thought of by the devs well before the public do.
what you get suppressed for the rest of the round after that? what a piece of shit idea.

Except this really isn't what happens to most people that have been shot at.

when being supressed your aim is blurry so aiming is harder.

LOL wtf is that shit?!?!
In a good game u dont need shitty camera effects to feel supressed.
Example: watch?v=4aH_wJgeEDA
realcrazyfox 2 years ago
You do realise that this is a trailer for suppressed fire not the blurred camera effect? -.-
ZeusOnIce 2 years ago
Its in-game to simulate the stress and pressure u get when being under fire.

I thought this suppression thing was already in .7?
Anyways, weird how they make so many updates after updates.
I think the Automatic Riflemen need to be towned down. I seen people with M249s mow down entire squads, it gets ridiculous...really.

Nononononono, NO!
This is a bad idea! It's too much - just leave it the way it is.
If you feel we need forced suppression effects so that we could "finaly have suppression that works", try watching some BFRecorder files.

they dont even let the public know whats happening during the modding process.
they think that they know best and are to scared that if public makes a good suggestion, the mod team wont get credit.
