The same phenomena was filmed in May of 2009 with two of these "UFOs".

There's been some analyses done on the videos which suggests it is one of those mini RC gliders. These are popular in Taiwan and I have seen then at night before the fireworks at certain festivals. One footage shows that the object isn't white but is multicoloured consistent with the lights of these gliders. It just looks like a white blob from far away.

I stood under 101 watching this and everybody was so quiet! No one shouted happy new year after the show ended.. Everybody just took their cameras out and filmed the thing without really getting in high spirits.. Sad to say it got the mood down...

It's called the "Ai-Rider" and it's a hexa-copter built right there in Taiwan. The remote-controlled aerial photography vehicle is said to be entirely developed in Taiwan and made with domestic components. It can carry a payload, such as a video camera, of up to 400g and can climb to an altitude of 550m. It was filming the fireworks.
