My buddy has to drive 65 miles to get care...from the VA. So, yeah.....Rachel Maddow, you again are a liberal dumbass. And you must wait months for essential surgeries. VA is likely the cause of numerous suicides due to post traumatic stress syndrome going untreated.

Just curious, but where do you think your buddy would go for care if the VA didn't exist?

Private insurance maybe? I know Rachel Maddow is your girl and all, but the VA is a striking example of how universal healthcare would not work. Unless you know someone in the military who uses the VA you dont understand. Another great example of government failure is medicare/medicaid.

I'm not opposed to disagreeing with Rachel if she's wrong. I'm actually in graduate school for Medical Ethics. I've been up close and personal with the failures of the healthcare system. I don't know much about the VA, though. I'm seriously interested in what suggestions those opposed to universal healthcare would offer for fixing the current US system. Personally I've yet to seen any proposed system I think would work, universal or otherwise.
