@ 09fredo Oh no doubt man, I just said for the hell of it bro haha. He was definitely a solid back. I liked using him in Madden he could break tackles pretty good
I can't stand Aaron Brooks, he deserves to be in the running for worst performing quarterback next to Donovan McNabb. They both just have this shit-eating grin every time they make a boneheaded play.
@GeauxRoux how can you call a qb whos was in the playoffs basically every year for a decade and has been to a super bowl "in the running for worst performing quarterback" in Don's prime that's just a ridiculous thing to say.
If Drew Brees had the Chargers the highest scoring team in the NFL for a few seasons & got the Saints that honor to shouldn't that make Brees one of the highest scoring quarterbacks ever?
Brooks would find ways to lose games all by himself even in they were in it and looked like they could win Brooks would somehow manage to lose it for the Saints.
Lol, look who throws the block for the big play @ the end.
pay attention to when the announcer says the chargers...the highest scoring team in the nfl, when drew was with them,now..7 years later, the saints..the highest scoring team in the nfl with drew in new orleans
@SterlingsGFX fucka drew brees?? man,are you on crack?? brees won us a superbowl..aaron brooks had some good moments, but lets be real...HE SUCKED ASS!!!
This is when Drew Brees began to turn in around for the Chargers, and even more so for himself. Look at him run! He'd smoke Tim Tebow any day of the year, twice on Sunday.
And Jamesbond.... Ever heard of the "dome patrol"??? Not even close to below average they were monsters, no one could touch that defense, we might've sucked for a long time but that's why our fans our famous for being the best fans in the NFL, we love our team no matter what, and we're tough and know how to take a loss, not crybabies and are grateful when we do win.... There were 1000's of fans greeting them after they won the Super Bowl and our parade, well approx 1,000,000 people at their par
@McKinley... You are joking right???? Bandwagon fans, I've been a die hard fan for my entire 31 years on this earth, have gone through the heartache and still always supported them. No one ever said Aaron Brooks was a good qb, people were just happy to get to the playoffs bc we sucked so bad. He was definitely not better than Jeff Blake, and yeah Weurfel was pretty bad but he did win the Heisman... Brooks was one of the dumbest, worst qb's the saints have ever seen. If you think otherwise than
it was the linemans fault,he got beat so bad on the play that he ended up so far in the backfield ,that brooks thought he was deuce mcallister ,thats why he threw it,he thought he was a running back
THIS IS THE ANSWER WHY HE THREW THE BALL BACKWARDS ,HE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A RUNNING BACK,, BACK THERE BUT IT WAS A LINEMAN , A LINEMAN IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE THAT FAR BACK IN THE BACKFIELD, ITS VERY RARE FOR A LINEMAN TO BE THAT FAR BACK ON ANY TYPE OF PLAY,SO THATS WHY HE THREW IT BACK
What I never understand when it comes to a running play, such as this, even though it was a screwy play, is why the runner doesn't throw the ball away if he's gonna lose yards and he's along the sidelines. It's perfectly legal since no forward pass was made and he's outside the pocket. Coaches need to teach that. it's a perfectly legal loophole that no one ever exploits. It's a halfback pass that's incomplete.
@fivelegduc12 It wouldn't work because on most running plays, at least one of the offensive lineman are gonna be past the line of scrimmage. So if the running back makes a forward pass that crosses the line of scrimmage, it'll be a penalty.
@WhoDat1011 , nobody is not realizing on that play ,its #72 linemans fault ,he got beat so bad that #72 ended up in the backfield so fast ,that brooks thought he was a running back or somebody that could advance the ball ,thats why he threw it backwards,it was #72s fault ,it wasnt brooks fault,#72 just ended up in the backfield so quick,he looked like a running back
@WhoDatSaintsfan17 , BROOKS STILL GOES DOWN IN SAINTS HISTORY AS THE ONLY QUARTERBACK TO LEAD THE SAINTS TO A PLAYOFF VICTORY ,AND RICKY WILLIAMS WAS HURT ,THEY HAD NO RUNNING BACK THAT DAY ,HE DID ALOT FOR THE SAINTS FANS DAT DAY ,CUZ HAVIN A REPUTATION OF NOT EVER WINNING A PLAYOFF GAME WAS A DISGRACE ,HE HANDLED HIS BUSINESS THAT DAY
@jamesbond504 The "ONLY quarterback to lead the saints to a playoff victory"? I seem to remember a guy by the name of Drew Brees who won several playoff games and a superbowl, and throws forward passes. Maybe I'm just delusional. Aaron Brooks never did anything good for Saints fans. He only continued the streak of Saints disappointments.
@stebecool do you realize what type of reputation the saints had before they won that playoff game in 2000,they were an embarrassment until that playoff win with aaron brooks , this is way before drew brees was with the saints, now after brooks performance was declining ,he will still be known for being the first quarteback to win a playoff game for the saints ,they had been in the league 17 years and was known for not being able to win a playoff game, that was a fuckin disgrace,
@jamesbond504 Been in the league 17 years before Brooks won a playoff game in 2000? What, did Archie throw TDs to Eric Martin? Dempsey kick a record setting field goal after he retired? And so what they won in 2000, they lost the next week in Minnesota. Big whoop. Brooks was a below average quarterback on an average team and couldn't lead the Saints to anything since.
@spybloom all those players were good but they were still part of a franchise that was a part of the embarrassment , you know why they lost to minnesota ,cuz they had no running back, rickey williams ,you just dont get it aaron brooks performance may have declined but people celebrated like they had one the superbowl when they beat the rams in the dome ,that should tell you somethin ,stop jockin all those old garbage azz players
@jamesbond504 Actually, the 2000 season, the year of the first playoff victory, was the Saints 34th season. The Saints inaugural (first season) was in 1967. So they had been around for double the time that you stated.
@jamesbond504 I hate that all the bandwagon fans think that Aaron Brooks was the worst qb ever if they only would have watched he was above average qb but he was way better than Jeff Blake or the worse ever Danny Wuerffel.
This play is completely overblown by the media, and a select group of fans.
1. It was an instinctive reaction that anyone who has played sports could relate to. (Have seen similar plays happen but nobody made a big deal out of it)
2. If Wayne Gandy idk maybe blocked somebody a) there wouldn't be pressure from both sides forcing Brooks to act too quickly. b) Gandy wouldn't be standing there in the backfield as if he was a running back
@robbielandry drew brees was very young back then , and that was before he broke his shoulder, thats why he was running wild , now if you notice he doesnt run forward unless he really has to,its gonna happen tom aaron rodgers one day if he keeps running the way he do
@jamesbond504 he's still pretty quick. also he doesn't have to run because he is in the best offense in the league and has so many weapons. but he ran like a 4.5 at the combine
Wow how cool is this your Worst QB plays your future Best Superbowl Winning QB Classic. Aaron Brooks was trash thank God for Duece back in those days!!!!!!1
Drew Brees was on the sideline saying, "Yikes, Saints fans don't deserve to be subjected to this, I'm going to sign with them in a few years and win that city a Super Bowl."
Just had a horrible start to the season, but towards the end of it, they finally clicked with 4 games remaining to stay in playoff contention. But we were eliminated because the Jets found out that they were in so the Rams end up beating the Jets and Saints were done after that.....memories!!
Damn, those were some horrible memories......and at the same time when I was watching this game, I was thinking that what if Drew Brees was a Saint back in that year 2004? Lol, we would've made the playoffs that year!

jamesbond504 5 months ago
@WhoDat1011 Whodat is correct. I used to think how fivelegduc12 is thinking, but an 'ineligible man downfield' penalty will be called.
ataribigby1 5 months ago
@fivelegduc12 what would have been considered a fumble.
spazitude80 3 months ago
ohh plus if he throws it away it would have to make it past the line of scrimmage
spazitude80 3 months ago
@fivelegduc12
Because the linemen would be run blocking and there would most likely be an illegal man down field penalty if the running back threw the ball.
clebrowns071 2 months ago
@clebrowns071 I'd take a 10 or 15 yard penalty over a 24 yard sack though.
