Beautiful woman with equally beautiful voice. Astounding guitarist with a lot of talent, if a bit arrogant. What more do I need?! Oh, yes - a pair of hi-tech speakers and a key to lock my room so I could listen to them for as much as I want.
I think it's both funny and interesting to hear how a legend like Ritchie Blackmore picks up an old forgotten Swedish song by a forgotten Swedish one-hit-wonder-90's-group, to make a cover of. However, I think this is a great song and I think they did a quite good job. I have to say that the original is better though. If you like this version, you should check out the original!
I understand some people refuse to want to let Richie grow up, That's one thing. But man, look at this crazy video!! the 3-D effects in it remind me of the big 80s videos, But better(?) Anyway Candice Night is so fine I guess I would want to be following her around all the time as well! Let the Man Be, he served you well for years!
@ssolo8 well said. he has done all the "peacock rock" as he calls it strutting all over playing flashy solos. As good as purple, rainbow were this is what he wants to do now and we all know Blackmore always gets what he wants....
Boring now. A few albums of this stuff was ok but it's so predictable now. For a guy who used to push the boundaries he really has dropped into safe mode. I love Ritchie to bits and i know he's older and doing what he wants which is fair play but i just wish he'd Rock Out one more time cos he's stiill got class no matter what genre of music he plays. DP Mark 4 anyone?
Blackmore´s Night took money for the cancelled concert in Svihov castle.
Two weeks the promoter tried to contact BN to agree on compensation of the concert to their fans. Using the tickets from Svihov for the next concert was suggested. BN manager didn´t respond to e-mails and ignored phone calls although the full payment for the concert had been on BN bank account and all advance invoices of the providers´ had been paid.
@Pesakar I purchased tickets for a marilyn manson concert in Sacramento once, they cancelled the show due to the Columbine Shootings. I never got my money back. It wasn't because of the band, it was because of the policy of Ticket Master, no refunds.
I think the song is great, Candice is talented & beautiful (possibly indeed Ian!) and I wish them both all the success & happiness in the world in both the Blackmores Night project as well as their marriage. Candice's lyrics are top notch insightful & inspired (though she didn't write this one) and Ritchie is a guitar God from way back. Can you blame him for turning away from real rock (which in my book died back in 1990) and after 30 years of been there & done that things do tend to get old.
i think simon cowell bought blackmore and hypnotised him to be gay because he is a shadow of the man he was if his old self could see him 2day hed blow his head off i used to be a blackmore fan for a long time but after seeing this crap ive switched to led zeppelin at least were safe with jimmy page hes got a deal with the devil going on so i would be shocked if he ended up like this cant say the same for plant though his latest stuff is weird
Yeah, video sucks! But I heard their version of this excellent tune live this evening and it sounded very, very good! This video doesn't even show what a superb singer Candice really is. Go to the gigs to hear her -you want regret it!

Ritchie could be making a fortune with Deep Purple touring arenas around the world. Instead, he is doing what he wants to do. He is a brilliant musician and has found the perfect partner in Candice.
In my opinion, Ritchie just keeps getting better and better. I am a rocker from way back (60's & 70's) and I loved all the hardcore stuff, but times and people change. You can love more that one genre of music and broaden your horizons a bit. There are some narrow minded people who just have to criticize a great artist to make themselves look "cool", but hey - it doesn't.
He HAS earned the right to play whatever he wants. But does he have to look like he's utterly mental as well ? Every time I see him, I think of Baldrick. "Lazy" was never like this !
@velardur Hmm..got to check my booklet when I get home too? :P But well, it's still a good song. Funny enough they seem to like cover swedish artists. Rednex, One More Time, Nordman etc. :)
I heard this uplifting song for the first time just yesterday. After you tipped me off that this is a cover, I looked up the original, and now I have two versions of a great tune! I love youtube. Thanks ^_^
One thing I have noticed about Ritchie after listening to him all these years, every album is distinctly different with new innovations and new sounds. I won't say that I like or dislike what I hear here, it is just different than anything I have heard come out of Blackmore's Night before.
Beautiful and natutral at once, Blackmore's Night is if simple the only good music we have right now. Candice is all over this song for the eye-candy and Ritchie is delivering a thoughtfully composed and great-sounding melody.

I tried but I just don't get it. It's bland, average and amatuer. Jesus, how the mighty fall.

very good glad a facebook contact put this up on his wall have now found a new groupe to lisen to.liked blakemore in deep purple what a change in musical direction brilliant well done richie and candice
Lastly, this music isn't bad at all. Yeah, it's different, but it's still good. He's not repeating the same old tired stuff he's played for years, he's still creating good music. Props to Ritchie for not standing still.
For all those who think Ritchie has either sold out or lost his marbles for playing this music, you are so wrong.
To begin with, he has earned the right to play whatever he wants to play, seeing as he created the single most recognizable riff in guitar history. Yeah, the riff from smoke on the water.
Secondly, all one has to do is look back at DP album "The Book of Talisyn"(sp), to see he's had a bit of an obsession with celtic/folk/medevil music for 40 years. Look at DP, then at Rainbow.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@StarsnBars64 Lol i don't see how anyone could consider this selling out. He'd make more money if he was still with Deep Purple. Instead he does what he wants without caring about album sales or what anyone thinks. Not that's a metal attitude if ever there was one.
Blackmore was essentially studio session musician from early 1960's Outlaws, Heinz, Glenda Collins. Currently 66 years old, he clearly want to concentrate on only album productions, so he quite dislike hard work live performances.
@StarsnBars64 SOTW more recognizable than Link Wray's Rumble? You gotta be bullshittin' me, mate.
Blackmore's Night is a good idea, and I respect Blackmore for actually attempting something. Problem is, that band's concept has really worn itself thin by now.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@StarsnBars64 I like a lot of his purple stuff particularly, but trying something different shows me he's risking and probably growing as a musician/artist. And I liked his work (and the band's) from The Book of Taliesyn very much, though it was a bit different than say Machine Head.
@StarsnBars64 You dont have to earn the right to do what you like.
Yeah and for all the deep hard-rock blackmore fans - Go and see the live show - It is an absolute rockandroll Kickass Show. Blackmore will always be Blackmore!!
This is still "real music" even if you don't like. Yet I don't like it, not this song, or the album it's from. It just sounds too pop, I preferred some of their earlier stuff really.
@prott100 You all have an incredible rich history all over that part of this world. I have not been there in many years but I've seen a number of castles. High on my list to see again some day if I can.
Candice and Richie have been making Renaissance music for about 15 years now, and it's one of the only things that keeps me sane. For those of you that are not rennies, you'll never understand, do not leave negative comments, this music is beautiful, it embraces faire... A place that takes us back to a simpler time, a place where we can let our imaginations and dreams flow, escape reality and be accepted and smiled at by everyone, being in this frame of mind is something to be embraced, Huzzah!
no no no, her voice is beautiful but the original with One more time is much better! This is not a modern song, you have to have the 80's(or early 90's :P) cheesy electric sound and overpowerful beat!!
This isn't even folk music! It's just crappy pop! And what the f---l is that music video? This is so frustrating! I'm sure Blackmore's Night could do much better than that!
@metalgoth34 Her age? She's like 40 years old.... That's still in her prime. She's gorgeous, and I'd find myself extremely lucky to be with a woman who looks like this goddess.
If i find anybody saying anything bad about my mate Ritchie then i will personally hit them with my 68 white fender - so make it good!

Blackmore portrayed the musical approach as Mike Oldfield & Enya, however I remind it as Loreena McKennitt.
Most people don't know that he directly makes Night's vocal melodies
It's virtually Rainbow's soft rock version.

@StarsnBars64 I think it was John Lennon who once said, "People do not like change if it is for the better!"

@StarsnBars64 Lol i don't see how anyone could consider this selling out. He'd make more money if he was still with Deep Purple. Instead he does what he wants without caring about album sales or what anyone thinks. Not that's a metal attitude if ever there was one.

You don't know that "Autumn Sky" sold 100000 copies during it's first week in Russia.
"Village Lanterne" also sold 100000 copies in Russia.
Blackmore's Night always made chart success in Germany from 1997.
"Shadow of the Moon" sold 100000 copies in Japan.
I don't think that he was good guitarist, but I think that he is good business man.
Blackmore is considered as rich man because he gets enough royalties yearly, after having sold hard rock records' 100 million copies in the world.

@mashui99
Blackmore was essentially studio session musician from early 1960's Outlaws, Heinz, Glenda Collins. Currently 66 years old, he clearly want to concentrate on only album productions, so he quite dislike hard work live performances.

@StarsnBars64 I think its the perfect venue for him to showcase his talents! Been listening to this band for years now, its such good music!

@StarsnBars64 SOTW more recognizable than Link Wray's Rumble? You gotta be bullshittin' me, mate.
Blackmore's Night is a good idea, and I respect Blackmore for actually attempting something. Problem is, that band's concept has really worn itself thin by now.

Ritchie Blackmore has gone soft with age

at least i still have his real music with Deep Purple
and Rainbow

@lizardking4u
This is still "real music" even if you don't like. Yet I don't like it, not this song, or the album it's from. It just sounds too pop, I preferred some of their earlier stuff really.

I love this song!!! thanks mr. Blackmore! XD
shuchan88 1 year ago
no no no, her voice is beautiful but the original with One more time is much better! This is not a modern song, you have to have the 80's(or early 90's :P) cheesy electric sound and overpowerful beat!!
