I just reinstalled this old game, haven't played it in about 3 or 4 years. I have the Gold Edition which comes with the Shadows of Undrentide expantion (©2003 lol). I know it's based on DnD but I never played DnD. What's a "1d6"? What's a "save throw"? ...some kind of programmers jargon I guess. Anyway, I just created a Human Wizard (generalist) with 8 str, 8 dex, 8 con, 16 Int, 16 Wis, and 16 cha. He died as soon as he walked into that last room before the pens. Magic missiles, I think. ><

DnD is only as Good as your DM is. You absolutely NEED a good DM in order to fully Enjoy DnD. A Bad Dungeon Master will make your DnD worse than the baddest RPG in Existence, while a Good Dungeon Master will make it the best RPG You Play, have played, and will EVER PLAY. NO MATTER WHAT. PERIOD.

Those are bad Stats for a wizard, DEX and CON would be much better since one lets you use ranged weapons well and increases your armor, and the other gives you more HP.

1d6 refers to a specific dice roll "1" standing for one die "d6" for "six sided dice" when a game says to roll "2d20" for example you would roll two twenty sided dice. A saving throw is an opposing dice roll to an attack. In most cases when a mage casts a spell the attacked player will roll a willpower save. He does this by rolling 1d20 and comparing it to his willpower score, and depending on the game hoping to roll above or under his score. Hope this helps:)

I ran out of text haha. Basically its all lingo from the pen and paper dungeons and dragons games. If you're still interested in RPGs I highly recommend looking up a local tabeltop game store, and looking at the boards they have set up where people are likely running DnD, Pathfinder, World of Darkness and other awesome PnP games.

@VerumAdNauseam 1D6? Saving throw, etc? The thick manual that came with the original boxset game is GREAT for this, alternatively the D&D Players Manual 3.5 edition is the one to get (NOT the ghastly 3rd or dumbed-down 4th edition!), it's simple to understand once you go through it with the dice in your hand. NWN original box editions are on eBay real cheap. You don't HAVE to be aware of the mechanics behind D&D, though it does deepen understanding and appreciation of what's going on.

@Treble0096 i also was obsessed with the multiplayer xD there was this pvp server where u get skulls of kills and u can trade those for armor and weps xD i wanted ALL!

@raknikmik I'd stay away from 2. I've heard it was riddled with bugs and nigh unplayable. Stick with 1. 10x more content and lots more fun from what I hear :). Plus the world-builder is easier to use if you're into that ^_^

There was one point in 2's campaign where you go to a place called Crossroad Keep, oh my god. Godly.

Actually, it seems that youtube has the higher quality version, if the viewer adds &fmt=36 to the URL. You could also link to it in the description, ie. watch?v=SHGsOx52ph4&fmt=36.

Nice start! ^^ The music is a little loud, but I think that gets a lot better after the character creation.

Oh, it seems like adding &fmt=36 gives exactly the same effect as the HQ button does. Huh. I think that is better than the version on Viddler..? Maybe I'm just not viewing the Viddler version the "right" way. Anyways, the youtube HQ one is plenty detailed for me.

Later on I upload really HQ videos and skip out on viddler. At least for me on some of the videos you cannot read the text and that it a no no for the standards I set for the game.

Ok, cool. Just to let you know, I can read all of the text fine like this, though, when I use &fmt=36 or the HQ button. Even the smallest text I've seen past character creation (the text in the feedback field at the bottom of the screen). To be picky, the two ls in "spell" in said feedback field get smudged, but absolutely readable.
