I think the max of those Big Gold Diamonds is 2.

1. Once your in Area 2, where the Ghost Dog is, water the seed that is to the right. Then once it spouts a plant. Come back to it on Area 3, water it again, and it'll grow into a big Flower, after that, come back to it on Area 4, and water it again, and... surprise! You get a Gold Diamond and a load of other goodies.

2. Reward for getting all 50 Boos.

Anyway, for those that don't get the glitch, He snagged the last Boo which dropped the Gold Diamond, but since the Diamond was in range to pick it up, Prof. E. Gadd calls you, and you hold the Diamond in your hand until your done talking to him. THEN you finally do the *Got a Key/Treasure* animation.

Not that hard to figure out... jeez.
