  • Yes, it was STS-126. It was last November 14, 2008. I pretty sure it was because I was there. STS-123 was launched later. They don't always launch in number order.

  • 3:01 was that a vapor cloud ?

  • Yes, wasn't it cool?

  • Good news, this isn't the last night launch.

STS-128 going up in a few weeks a night launch at 1:37 AM.

  • You're right. I found that out later. Though the hype at the time before this launch was that it was going to be the last one.

  • that is an incredible view. night launches are the best

  • Thanks, I think so too!

  • Great video,I was 12 miles away on the banana river causeway. How bright and loud was it?I'd love to view from there.Lucky you!

  • It was pretty loud and bright. We were as close as you could get which is 3 miles away. The VIP viewing stand was across the street from me.

  • Great video.

This view is from the press site??

    Greetings from Mexico City!

  • I was on KSC near the VAB which is across the street from the VIP and press site. So that was close enough for me. You can't get any closer than that!

  • Woooww!!!... anyway!!.... is a great video!!!!!

    Thanks for share it!!!

Happy (and belated) New Year from Mexico City!

  • Thanks! The view was very close to the press and VIP site. We were directly across the street from them. The closest you can get to the launch is 3 miles away, and we were on KSC, so we had a pretty good view.

  • wow that girl is so correct it was a very beautiful view you got.

  • Being there in person was the best it ever could've been.

  • What an Incredible video. I was at the Saturn 5 center and shot a video my self. Nothing compared to this. 5 stars I must give you.

  • Thank you. I was fortunate enough to be there on business at KSC and stayed for a tour and was in the best place possible to view and record it. This is my first home video and I know it was shakey, but I think I got the best of the launch captured. I'll always have that to remember it by.

  • Thank you so much. It was actually my first time using a new video camera and I wished I had brought the tripod to keep it still. But I can't complain. It was awesome!

  • It wasn't the last night launch, that's just a rumor. Nice video!

  • Thanks! I found that out later too...

  • Amazing! One of the best launch videos I've seen. Esp. at 2:05

How do you find out about launch times, and can anyone go out there to watch? If I were to go to Florida for vacation, i'd love to time it with a launch because I've always wanted to see one live.

  • holy cow, where were you? That's the closest personal video I've seen

  • Thanks!
