  • wow I JUST saw the baby inside the skulls at 0:50 .... well back to work

  • ALIVE!!

  • @blooze72 then dont listen why waste your time

  • @MegaTrolleater Wow.Took awhile to figure out what was going on. That wasn't me who wrote that shit.... Had to be some smart ass at work jacking with my computer.

  • @blooze72 whoa...you are in a totally differnt world than me...

  • Is 2011 and this song still gets me all warm in the beginning. Very powerful! Very beautiful!

  • Tools music is so good its almost an insult to sing along with the song!

  • This my N1 band THank you thank you Tool OF being in my World !!!!

  • this is another brilliant song by TOOL, who i have never heard play something bad. So stop crying and fuck all your religious-angle theories and just enjoy all that tool has made!!!

  • the dislike bar is as long as kardashians marriage

  • Jiddu Krishnamurti's talks and books (they exist online as pdf), Bruce Lipton's talks about the power of consciousness and this song... what else do you need? Throw in Kymatica as well.

Questioning the role of authority, both outwardly and especially inwardly - which is the key.

Understand that the conscious mind can alter the subconscious mind, to strive towards a state where both behave and reason in the same way.

Stop being afraid of death. Death is nothing to fear. Fear is a mindkiller.

  • @ubbecykelkedja Questioning the role of authority is the key to what?

  • I woke up one day and realized that I didn't believe in God anymore. So no God, no afterlife... we just die. Cars, women, fam, house, land, does not matter if you just become bones in the end. Sad. Woke up that night floating 1 ft off the bed paralyzed, Euphoric. I freaked out at first, and then started telling myself it''s all gonna be ok after all. There was a halo around me radiating light rays. Then a powerful voice said, "There is an afterlife.". That's what this song reminds me of.

  • @dallasinnyc wow! you're very lucky!

  • tool+alex grey+DMT= amazing.

  • 3:50 NOT SO HOLY !

  • 4:29

  • Where did you get all this images? :D Pls tell me :D

  • Parabol is my lullaby i put my mp3 on repeat and hook it up to my boombox alll night

  • Incredible's an understatement to this track. Just wow.

  • *Their music screams to something inside. It's like food is to hunger and it fills me with exquisite awareness, engulfing every neuron in my brain with gut wrenching consciousness; grounding me, expanding me, raising my mind above the mundane into the unknown, asking me to see with my mind and connect with the infinite.

  • This song is about embracing life, don't give up, all this pain doesn't matter for we are eternal it won't matter what you suffered in this body for we will pass on to the next holy experience. He uses the word holy for impact not literal interpretation.

  • I love this song it's about spiritual realization and eternity of the soul.

  • VERY FUCKING AWESOME ! THIS SONG IS A TRIP ...

  • A HOLY MOMENT (my version, anyway):

    4,10, 11, 2, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 4

    i love meditating to this....

    i LOVE TOOL .

    i LOVE GOD .

  • my third eye opens when i listen to this shit even when i dont even try :)

  • @coltybearthebear

That's weird. Must be annoying actually. I would be, it's happened before. And means it must not be me. Someone must have opened Pandora's box on us and let the flies out. In wishful thinking anyway. These are different flies though. Not supposed to be here.

  • In the whole universum/Creation there is no such thing which can be named holy.

  • 7 dislikes!? who the fuck would dislike this??

  • @MonkeyWrench1988 Dillholes.

  • This song changed the way I look at life....

  • DAMNIT!!!

the image at 3:06 is an idea i had for a long ass time to sort of explain an element in how i write songs. i was gonna put it on my band's t shirts. that like if you get deep enough into music you kind of lose yourself in it and its like something possess you and and expresses itself using your body as a medium.

    now i can't do that.

fuckin alex jones... oh well atleast i shared a same idea as he did. even though he beat me to it... and it looks way cooler than mine would've

  • Dewd. Tool like got rid of my headcold. Healing powers fosho.

  • @MrISAACFACE i hope it does the same for me

  • I think Maynard James Keenan was part of a mystery school in an early reincarnation, because lyrics reflect ancient secrets of inner journey of the soul. maybe some pythagorean mystery school or one of other secret ones.

  • Love how it's Parabol, Parabola, and Parable is a short allegory that teaches moral. What band does that?!

  • We are all one, because we are all God. Together we make up God. Us and our surroundings. God is omnipresent, which means he is everywhere; In us and around us. "God's own Holy Spirit is what gives us true life."

  • I fear all this people saying that ''Jesus said something'' and calling a music band ''a religion'' just below a TOOL song. Do your homework, listen to the music and get THE MESSAGE...

  • -[_{*;}{(*;}{_is a state of mind.live show is mass awakening.

  • This is meditation.

  • stfu and listen!

  • @Dylanator7777 Why don't you shut the fuck up and listen yourself? No, instead you decide to post a retarded ass comment, most likely in attempts to get a few thumbs up so you can feel good about yourself.

  • Notice God is in the bg at 4:56

  • I sang this to my grandfather when he was about to die...he was 86

he was so scared of dying... I try to draw an image of him becoming light, as one of Alex Grey's pictures...I told him not to worry because that was it would happen to him,

he said it was beautiful... he died two days later with my drawing in his hands

and we buried him with the drawing in his pocket...

so this song means a lot to me...seven years later...

  • @mlleisla that is amazing. beautiful story, you should be proud of yourself for doing what you did.

  • @mlleisla thats so intense! Amazing that you had the belief and self control to present it to him on his death bed.

I am very sorry for your loss. you seem very strong, so stay that way and keep your mind at an ever indulging pace as it seems to be at the moment. god bless you and lets hope there are more that would like to be alike. Peace

  • @jsneezyalfie23, @foreverisalie713, @esskater770 Thank you for having taken the time to write some lines, that's what internet should be about: sharing and getting closer to people instead of hating :)

    Blessings to you all!

  • @mlleis incredible

  • @mlleisla so why the fuck we should care about this shit?

just listen to damn music we are not interested in ur life story...

    FUCK!!!

  • @wiwq shut the FUCK UP! FUCKING BITCH! i hope your death is pain full!

  • Comment removed

  • @wiwq for your information, internet in general is a means of communication where you can express ideas and share. If you don't agree, I respect it but I don't see the point of insulting hiding behind your screen.

If this was a site where you could only listen to music, we wouldn't be allowed to write, because you're right...who cares if you like or don't like sth!

Maybe insulting helps you liberate your life from stress, just hope you grow up one day and learn to respect others. Peace :)

  • @mlleisla i dont need to hide behind my screen..

idont fear u nor hate u..i just dont respect u..and why should i?

i dont respect weak emotional beings and judging by ur upper comment u are one of them..

older we get more we learn to accept the inevitable-end of our physical existence..

so why the fuck ur grandpa feared of dying in the first place..and this weakness is reflected in u..

its a family thing i guess..

  • @wiwq well, it's basic! if don't respect others you can't demand respect in return, so I won't waste my time writing to someone like you. If you enjoy being so hateful, go on, be happy!! Luckily, most people aren't that bitter.

wish you the best! bye :)

  • @mlleisla well..u just wasted time by replying to me 2 times..

  • @mlleisla that is one of the most beautiful stories i have heard in a long time, i cried, thank you for so much for sharing with us all.this song held me together when i came back from a near death expeirence in 2008. my mind had been a bit messed up from the lack of oxygen, yet parabol and parabola became like mantras for me. recently i spent with an x-girl friend from12 years ago. she said when i hold you or you hold me i feel something new i then told her the fools journey (taro/kabala).

  • @mlleisla Thank you for sharing, that is a beautiful story.

  • @mlleisla That's a beautiful story...what a loving gift you gave him.

  • @mlleisla Amen brother he's with my mom and with Him in the Circle, the Spiral, the Parabola; we'll see them again.

  • @mlleisla What a beautiful thing you gave to him. I'm sorry or your loss.

  • No, not pushing religion, not at all! Jesus never said anything good about religion, but for helping widows and orphans, religion is hypocrisy. This is about faith, Jesus is faith, in eternal life. He said we can have life eternal, He said His body is the gate, His blood, His sacrifice, God's own Holy Spirit is what gives us true life, truly alive, free from the bonds of flesh, death, pointless desires, greed, war, lusts of flesh, He is the One Truth amongst all the lies, the Way, Truth, Life.

  • No human remembers how life began, we only have ides and theory's of what came before this "moment". Does a person remember their first thoughts? Do we have recall of womb to walking, thoughts of emotions or eternal? This Holy reality, experience? God knows us before, chooses us, to be here. Jesus said if you love God, We will make Our home in you. Jesus spoke in parables. Jesus endured pain, physical, emotional, spiritual. Holy gift, God's Holy and Perfect Spirit, a gift of life, true and pure!

  • thats what im fucking talking about what a song!!!!!!!!

  • Where do you get your images?

  • @dunkan1706 The images in the video are painted by Alex Grey, one of my favourite modern artists...

Much like Tool he takes a lot of his inspiration from Ayahuasca, psilocybin, shamanism, buddhism, and yogic practices.

  • @MrAudiovideodisco You know some of his work was done while tripping on LSD? He says it himself on the documentary: Hall of Sacred Mirrors. Just sayin'

  • Capolavoro !

  • use LSD and listen to this song.. holy shit

  • @hert0gjan That's how the Artist drew that.

  • Ideas and philosophies herin- (See Buddhism and Sacred Geometry)

  • As long as Tool has been around this is one of their best albums.

  • This song brings me great peace in heart, mind, soul, and all through the electrical wires of blood flowing through my body.

  • Thanks for uploading, a great, great, video! Thank you, thank you.

  • Thank you for this reminder.

  • Rather than being a religion, I'd say this reaches across faith and difference and touches something both spiritual and visceral inside many of us. It's an insightful, powerful man sharing his art, belief, talent, and even part of his very self. And it's both mass and personal as a result. Maynard's music draws people together in a way rarely seen by modern bands. Just as storytellers of old passed along what they had learned to the next generation, Maynard passes on a glimpse of his evolution.

  • @Jadyn462 It brings me great joy to see insightful people coming together for Tool's music and message. Great thoughts. Love and light to you!

  • @Jadyn462 it's not just Maynard... remember that, even though it's obvious.

  • @Jadyn462 Well ah lock a way ye tok

  • God I am not even going to say it to ANYONE directly there are too many. Now lets get this straight some of these comments (keep in mind I only read the first page I am not fucking wasting 20 minutes when 80% are ignorant as shit) but yeah some of these comments are very insightful. Then some are fucking dumb ass because people don't take the time to study wtf they are talking about. Like the guy who said TOOl is like a religion Maynard said that is exactly what he did not want. god its bad.....

  • umm its music people it has a different meaning to everyone so dont start al this crazy stuff about god and shit

  • Absolutely amazing song and easy to understand the meaning. This video should be given to anybody considering suicide in the hopes of changing their mind. It may give them a reason to find their own meaning to live. They should wear headphones while listening. Just have to warn them to turn the volume down around the 3:00 minute mark!! But also tell them to turn it back up for the last minute!

    Hold On Stay Inside

  • This is indeed one of the most beautifully sincere songs ever written...

If I ever get married, with my bride I will dance to this song at my wedding, signifying a union of two souls, a "holy reality," a "holy experience," and the recognition of that chance to truly be "alive and breathing."

Long live art and open-minded thinkers...

  • im ahppy that my favorite badn alice in chains were good friends with tool =)

  • best intro ever

  • Trade subscriptions?

  • Everytime I listen to TOOL I feel like I have been re-born

  • the guitar playing guy picture is perfectly timed.

  • This song sustains me.

  • Love the slow orgasmic build-up!

  • I consider Tool somewhat a religion, it's not quite Christianity but it sometimes say some things about creators or "Gods" but it's nothing like once explained and how everyone thinks they understand it the Tool "religion" embraces us all as one and if everyone thought the same way we would all be more equal, more peaceful, smarter, and happier and I will say I don't think anybody even has the ability to begin to know the meaning of life and all that but I think "]["[{}][{}]][_ is the closest

  • @hunterwr69 Lateralus was a project in which Alex Grey had influence. You might want to look into hus art if you enjoy the character of the album. Also, Tool draws their inspiration from a lot of philosohpy and art from different cultures. It's the entire package of influences that brings them to what they make. There's definately a spiritual mood flowing through this album, that might be a better way to describe it, religion is a word a bit too strong for my taste.

  • @VreeFisions I thought it was a little strong saying it too but yes I very much enjoy the art work of Alex gray

  • @hunterwr69 Oh yes. Love the way Alex Grey and Tool got to show something of a more spiritual matter to a younger public.

  • @VreeFisions yes although a lot of the younger public now a days doesn't know about Alex gray most of them don't even know Tool

  • @VreeFisions worked for me when I was younger, in a spiritually-impoverished place indeed at the time this came out... thanks Tool. I worship no man like a god, but this is simply good stuff.

  • @VreeFisions @hunterwr69

It certainly doesn't box Tool into a particular tradition but looking at gnosticism, kundalini yoga and tantra is a good start to really understand the meanings. You also for example have a visual kundalini awakening at the end of the video of Parabola. It's not just Alex Gray, it's Maynard as well, for example the lyrics to Jambi among others seem to hint directly at tantric sexuality which I personally believe Maynard practices, possibly taught by his wife.

  • @VreeFisions and i dare say it helped a mass maturation of a generation.

  • @maledictorchid Let's hope so.

  • @maledictorchid lol at first i thought u said it helped a mass masturbation of a generation rofl

  • @kissmyoradora83

    lol me too

  • @VreeFisions The Latin word "religare," from which "religion" is derived, simply means "to bind back." so in my opinion it's not that strong... It just fits good in the context :)))

  • @VreeFisions The Latin word "religare," from which "religion" is derived, simply means "to bind back." so in my opinion it's not that strong... It just fits good in the context :)))

  • @VreeFisions maybe its not anything but sheddin off the old and becomin, knowin and lettin ourselves be who we really are..

  • @hunterwr69 I can agree with you. I have explain to people that TOOL Is my "Christian Rock Band". Of course I have to explain it throughly cause really, TOOL can't be explained, it must be experienced.

  • @hunterwr69 Far from a religon brother, its just music, and a way they express themselves

  • @DropJuicyBeats yeah I think I was kinda trippin when I was thinkin about all that haha

  • @hunterwr69 If everyone thought the same way? Don't be a conformist. get that shit off this page.

  • @hunterwr69 You have a great point. I'd suggest you to take interest into sciences such as Hermeticism (Thoth Hermes Trismegistus), and Alchemy. If Unity is a thought you support, I'd suggest listening to Bashar, as well as reading of certain texts that concern the human as a whole and the human soul.

I've read and studied, and I find remarkable similarities in many philosophic texts. "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz for an example. You can PM me and we can chat over this song! L&L.

  • @hunterwr69 Tool is not a fucking religion. Dont ever worship the messenger(or the message for that matter).

  • @swankinstender Don't ever worship anyone or anything if it ain't pure love.

  • @hunterwr69 if everyone thought the same way, that would be a terrible world to live in.

  • @hunterwr69 Look up Terence McKenna. He pretty much got it figured out in my opinion. His lectures are extremely enlightening

  • @hunterwr69 The spiritual connotations of this music is derived from Enochian magic. Can we agree to disagree, that you are obviously confused with Maynard' perception. Have you heard of the Ordo Templi Orientis?

    Freemasons?

  • Best song that will ever be. ever. I have been a huge fan of tool for about 10-11 years now and the transition still sends chills down my spine!

  • The transition is just too perfect. I just can't bring myself to listen to parabola without hearing parabol first.

  • Love this song and really loved this video. awesome images you put in there with awesome effects too, love it! <3

  • 9 minutes of pure mind fucking

  • If you want to know exactly what it means to 'be here, in this moment, in this body,' put "Do not fight against the body" into Google, in the parenthesis, and click on the top link. Good luck on your journey.

  • @CooperJoe : umm didnt understand that D:

    in what parenthesis?

  • Someone finally got these lyrics right. <3

  • Love the transition of Parabol to Parabola.

  • @SmellyStingFace I'm in love with it, forever.

  • i just LOVE tool...

  • As always, the search for answers to life....the quest.

    Great band.

  • Wonderful song and it makes me think of someone special.

  • six people couldn't hold on... six people couldn't stay inside... morons...

  • Six deaf and blind people have watched this video!

  • *Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this

chance to be* alive and breathing,

a chance to be alive and breathing* embrace life <3

  • Every time I listen ti this song, I feel vibrations inside and out, heat to toe!! The same feeling I get when in deep meditation. I LOVE it. I'm so addicted.

  • @AnotherDay2010 Listen to Tool when you are meditating sometime. I would especially recommend 10,000 days. That album in particular has tracks meant to assist in energy production and realm migration.

  • @Parasiticpride I would say Lateralus.

  • Great transition & artwork. This song reminds me that I just gotta hold on....a little bit longer.

  • @Parasiticpride No, thank you! I have a spiritual experience belting out the lyrics and realizing that my soul is alive and that I can do anything with that power at my disposal.

    Namaste

  • Comment removed

  • These two songs be my favorite. But all their shit is boobs. :D

  • apparently 6 people both A) dont have souls, B) suck at knowing what real music is

  • @HystericPoison nah they missed the button

  • By far my favorite clip on YOUtube. Awsome

  • Tool and Alex Grey...whooooohaaa :))))) great artists

  • Jesus is to Christians as Maynard is to me...

  • Damn,...it's one thing to love TOOL because they're a great band, but it's another experience to read the lyrics of Maynard.

I'm ready for a new TOOL album. Anyone know when their next album comes out?

  • 6 people where cuming to tools amazing-ness and clicked the wrong button but we forgive them :)

  • @lateralus3102 Probably hard for them to hold it in....lol

  • thank you..........thank you so much

  • love this song and the art :)

  • This was an amazing video to watch and listen to. thank you so much for that great tool experience. I can now start my day.

  • The pictures fits so well in with this song

  • why is energy not included in the periodic table? when it is the fuel of cosmic propulsion that never dies, but only changes form....E=mc2. extra dimension's are similar to protons and neutrons "periodic table",opposite consist of electromagnetic "spectrum" invisible EM frequencies that are not tuned to our channeled dimensin. we are ultraterrestrials who shall exist for eternity- that there are higher and lower frequency people with us, right now, as we speak, next to us.

  • @darthoroo Cool story, bro.

  • @darthoroo You are thinking of the law of conservation of energy. This law states that energy is neither created nor destroyed. You are also a tool for wondering why energy is not in the periodic table. That is a retarded question. Go read a book. No one likes a pseudo-intellectual.

  • wow. six people loved this song so mutch they started shaking and hit the dislike button on accident. :)

  • nice video!

  • awesome video :) love the pictures ^^

  • Fabolous Song and group, the best like Tool or A Perfect Circle :)

and i give 5 stars at the video for its beautiful artwork that suists perfectly

    the song, Really Awesome :)

  • Great Music. You can take it as it comes, or stop and think about what is being said. Let the bass and lyrics explore your mind. kinda. Music that hits the soul and still sounds great to the averadge audience. <3 Tool Queensland 1998 still have the Tour T shirt and flag of a spanner and socket atachments in the shape of a penis.

  • This body holdig me....reminds me..of...my..own..mortality..embrace this..momement...remember!!! We are eternal!!! All this pain is an illusion.........

  • absolutely abstract..

  • why is energy not included in the periodic table? when it is the fuel of cosmic propulsion that never dies, but only changes form....E=mc2. there is no existence that ceases to exist without pure energy. extra dimension's are similar to protons and neutrons "periodic table",opposite consist of electromagnetic "spectrum" invisible EM frequencies that are not tuned to our channeled dimension. ??

  • @bongobomb You mean that we are ultraterrestrials who shall exist for eternity- that there are higher and lower frequency people with us, right now, as we speak, next to us, perhaps even oblivious to our existance as we are to them, or perhaps we ARE them, set to a different ulterior frequency, but are so diffused by worthless unevolved thoughts that we cannot sense these ultraterrestrial beings who are closer than our clothes.

But Tool is that first step?

  • @Tourettes Something ..... that is very interesting! its good to know that there are people out there that are on this our level. if only all of us could understand.

  • @bongobomb Because Energy is not matter, but that which drives matter. Energy is never pure either, pure energy is a contradiction. In order for energy to not be considered a type of energy (motion, force, kinetic, potential, etc. etc.) it can't be acting on anything. But if it's not acting on anything then it can't be energy, because energy by definition is an undefined force that acts on matter. Does that clear anything up for you?

  • @LetumComplexo You contradict yourself, by definition and undefined does not go together.

You can't have an undefined force and then call upon an arbitrary definition to end speculation about what energy can and can not be.
